A cut mango kind of reminds me of a porcupine in a really weird, not-so-much kind of way.

Yesterday, I covered a bunch of fun juice recipes that we love…

Today, I’m on to smoothies!

The reason I’m sharing what we like is to celebrate the release of Kris Carr’s new book “Crazy Sexy Juices & Succulent Smoothies” which you can check out here.

Be sure to watch the video she has on that page. Hysterical.

Anyway, here are three smoothie recipes that we love — you might want to try one or two to switch it up for your morning (or whenever) routine!

Green Monster

1/2 cup celery and kale juice
1 banana
1 tablespoon hemp seed
1/2 cup water

Because I’m a New York Yankees fan, I might think about changing the name of this drink. I came up with this recipe one morning while doing the dishes after making a green juice. I wondered what would happen if I used the green juice as a base with a little sweet and a little protein. It was good enough to make the book, so this one is definitely a winner. While this smoothie does take a little time to make, it’s very easy to put together! All you do is make a celery and kale juice (using either a juicer or a blender and nut milk bag), then put about a 1/2 cup of it into the blender with the hemp seed and the banana. Add the water to dilute the green juice if you don’t like it too strong.

You can also use Sunwarrior or other protein powders.

I prefer the juice to just adding the veggies into the smoothie for the texture, but you — of course — can just add them in without juicing!

Merry Mushroom–Mango Monsoon

1 handful spinach
2 mangos, peeled and seeded
1 dropper marine phytoplankton
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or chia
1 teaspoon cordyceps powder

Blend all ingredients, adding water until desired consistency is achieved. Enjoy!

I love this smoothie since it’s a great way to get minerals, iron and boost your immune system all at the same time. I also love mangoes when they’re fresh and ripe!

Coconut Mint

1 cup coconut water
Handful green leaf lettuce
1/2 cucumber
5–6 sprigs mint
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 cup coconut meat (or flesh of 1 avocado)
1 teaspoon vanilla powder
1-4 dates (optional)

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend well.

To make this even better, you can freeze the coconut meat beforehand so that your smoothie is chilled!

If you’d like a bunch more smoothie (and juice ideas) — and a chance to win a Vitamix or a juicer — be sure to get Kris’ new book which is on special until July 29th, 2012.

Here’s where to go to get this now…

Your question of the day: What is your favorite smoothie?
