Hey guys! Sorry for the website issues the last day or so…

We had some (warning tech language) DNS issues as we were switching over our domains from GoDaddy to another domain company. We initiated the transfers the last week, but some of the detail was left behind!

We’re good to go now and almost completely off of GoDaddy (will be in a few weeks or so!)

Anyway, today’s article was supposed to mirror this video, but I don’t have time to put up the article now because it’s 12:08 am on Tuesday and I really want to get to bed.

So, I’ll show the video for Monday’s content and you’ll get the article tomorrow.

In this video, I break down what you need for the liver and gallbladder cleanse and tell you how you can do it.

Take a look…

Your question of the day: What would you prefer orange juice or grapefruit juice?

He started seriously researching personal and preventative natural health therapies in 2002 when he was struck with the reality that cancer ran deep in his family and if he didn’t change the way he was living — he might go down that same path. Since then, he’s written and edited 6 books on the subject of natural health, diet and fitness. During this time, he’s constantly been humbled by what experts claim they know and what actually is true. This has led him to experiment with many diets and protocols — including vegan, raw food, fasting, medical treatments and more — to find out what is myth and what really works in the real world.

Kevin has also traveled around the world searching for the best protocols, foods, medicines and clinics around and bringing them to the readers of his blog RenegadeHealth.com — which is one of the most widely read natural health blogs in the world with hundreds of thousands of visitors a month from over 150 countries around the world.

Kevin, I enjoy both the articles and the videos, but since you started posting the articles it is harder to find the videos. Also, the video on the main page is not the right video and you have to click on the video name to get to the page where the right video is. That may be why fewer videos are being watched.

Anyhow, just my two cents. Thanks for all the great info.

  2. Nadia says:

I have done this liver/gallbladder flush many times. I use lemon to mix with the olive oil and just add in a little bit of orange juice for taste. Another trick is to keep the epsom salt mixture in the fridge and to add a squeeze of lemon to it before you drink it.. this makes it SO much easier to get down.

  3. Adrienne says:

    grapefruit, without a doubt

  4. Marianne says:

GRAPEFRUIT every time!!!!!!!!!Loooooooooooove it sooo much:-)
KEV! I’VE MISSED YOU!!!! Took your Sunday comments on board and headed over to your vid (which was surprisingly easy to find….or maybe that’s just me…)
LOL! So glad you shared why you were getting distracted. It was so nice to see you talking and being you…I’m off to watch a whole bunch of RHS’s right now….byeeexxxxx

  5. Veronika says:

Having lived in Berkeley/Oakland for about 9 years now, I can give you some tips about donating to the homeless population. The consensus among Bay Area residents is that it is much better to donate to the local organizations that support the homeless populations (and help them get off the street) instead of handing out change. Yea, handing out food is fine, but trust me – our homeless folks DO use your change to buy cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. I’ve watched them count how much they have, and then go to the corner (or the store) and get their fix.

There are certain guys who have been working the same blocks for decades, because they really do make a good living asking for change. Durant & Telegraph Ave in front of that strip of restaurants is particularly lucrative. You’ll see one man pull out wads of cash and then get into his honda civic after he’s done working for the night. He’s been there ever since I can remember. I’ve always wondered who gives him money – I guess it’s the freshman students, tourists, and new locals. 😉

There are also backpacking tourists who ask for money, but those folks are usually more transient and faces are different every season.

BOSS is a great organization you can donate to, with an office right in downtown Berkeley. http://www.self-sufficiency.org/ I’m sure there are many others you can support as well.

  6. Donaji says:

I’ve never done that cleanse before, but I’d pick a combination of orange and grapefruit, unless it can only be one at a time…then I’d pick grapefruit.

Veronika has a great point about the homeless comment. I’m in SF a few times a week and I see the same guys in the same spots all the time…I’ve seen their stash of cash & still beg for money. They have their strategies. You never really know what’s going on, some people buy drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, etc but some maybe don’t. I rather give them food. The sad part is that some actually demand you give them money and others try to make you feel bad if you don’t.

  7. Charlotte says:

grapefruit! orange juice isn’t tart anough for my liking!

  8. Gayle Siler says:

Grapefruit, shake and drink thru and straw, you can hardly taste it.

  9. damianna says:

    with orange juice taste better.

  10. Dee says:

I was also going to add that rather than giving money directly to the homeless, I donated money to soup kitchens, so that I knew it was going for meals and not alcohol,

  11. Tom says:

    Grapefruit juice every time.

  12. Velda says:

Good information, Kevin. Tell me, how much apple juice do you drink per day when you are doing the 6-day-apple-juice-pre-cleanse? I’m not sure if I would prefer orange juice or grapefruit juice with the olive oil. I might mix them 🙂 I have not tried the cleanse, but I definitely plan on doing just that. I have a few lipomas which is a direct result of your liver not being able to remove all the toxins from your body. Therefore, I was very intrested in this. Thanks for bringing such helpful and healthful information to us.

  13. Karen says:

    Grapefruit juice

  14. rf k says:

fyi, food grade epsom salts are available, I asked the pharmasist for them. Don’t ask me what the difference is but the difference in cost was not significant given where they were going.

For entertainment value tell your doctor about the stones and ask him or her what they are. Be prepared for blank looks or a two step shuffle.

  15. Faye says:

I love your haircut Kevin! Looks cool and great!

  16. Ray K says:

I have done this cleanse twice. I am not convinced it is safe! I can’t guarantee that it harmed my health, but I had health changes for the worse after it, that I don’t know what else to link to. I would tread carefully here.

  17. Laurie says:

I have never done this cleanse but I think I would prefer grapefruit juice. The question I have is do you eat a regular diet while you are drinking the apple juice the 5 or 6 days before. And how much apple juice?

  18. Kuru says:

Grapefruit is delicious with oo. I could drink it every morning.

  19. Anne says:

    HI Kevin,

Thanks for this info. I’ve had digestive problems and felt terrible a few months ago. With the help of a practitioner I’m doing much better now but I know my liver is not reacting normally to fats and any kind of fats (I only attempt good fats like avocados, coconut oil, brazil nuts, hemp seeds, flax seeds and oil and some fish oil) just goes right through me and gives me the runs. I would be very tempted to try this flush but in an attempt to kill off candida I’m also very conscious about fruit in my diet and although I see no problem with having 4-5 ounces of grapefruit (I would do grapefruit over orange) with the oil I am a bit reticent of trying the apple juice over 5-6 days. For one they are extremely high in fructose which was a problem for me not so long ago.
Is the apple juice absolutely necessary and how much.
    Thanks again

  20. Anne says:

Oh and would any type of apple do (ie granny smith to pacific rose?) or are there some that are more recommended

  21. jackie says:

I’d use grapefruit, and am considering doing this….I’ll wait to hear your story, though! I have the same questions as #15 Laurie.

  22. Christy Bull says:

    Hi Kev and AnnMarie,
Kevin I really do like your haircut and it seems your blue eyes are like blue ice, especially with your blue sweatshirt that seems to match perfectly.

I have done this cleanse seveeal times in the past and I am soooooo overdue to do it again. I KNOW that my liver is screaming “Give me a break”. I recently had blood work done and the results certainly agree that I need to do this sooner rather than later. I hope to be able to take advantage of the blood analysis that you are offering.

Finally back to the rest of the answer to the question. When I have done this cleanse, I used Lemon juice. I KNOW that I would like OJ (who doesn’t) and if I could sweeten the grapefruit a little, this would be my last option.

Thanks for all you two do!

  23. oregano says:

When I did my liver cleanses i wasn’t given a choice, so I always used grapefruit juice. I was also told to only eat raw fruit and salads on the day of the cleanse, up until lunchtime.

But I have to say that this is the worst thing I have ever had to drink or eat. I used to nearly throw up after drinking it. I also felt extremely nauseous for hours afterwards.

I was also told to slepp on my back, which you didn’t mention. I was told that this was very important for getting the stones flushed out.

  24. basia says:

i am just recuperating after doing the cleanse last night, did a colon cleanse first week then a colonic then the flush staying fully vegetarian for 3 weeks, i am burping like crazy, my stomach is bloated after eating nothing but the cleanse since 24 hrs and apple juice the oil seems to keep coming up, i think the bile stones are stuck so have to go have another colonic done, man oh man is this cleansing a costly business not counting the neusea its causing!!! feel ever so tired,

  25. Jackie Cresswell says:

What do you do if you’re allergic to apples?

  26. never found the second part of the video

  27. Jacquie says:

Hey Kevin, have you posted the 2nd part of the interview yet? Thanks so much for this FABULOUS information! 😉

  28. Vera says:

Done it once, took grapefruit juice. Was surprised that it tastes not bad… would do it again , very good cleansing way 🙂
