Here’s the raw food recipe:

Annmarie’s Apple Crumbly Crumble

4 Apples – sliced really thin
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 tbsp coconut sugar

Dry Ingredients for the Topping:

1/8 cup almonds
1/8 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp sunflower seeds
2 tsp cinnamon

For the Wet Yummy Crumble:

1/2 cup raw almonds – soaked 20 mins
1/2 rolled oats -soaked 2 hours
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup raisins (more if you like it really sweet)
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tbsp vanilla powder
1/2 tbsp nutmeg

Slice the apples really thin and place in big bowl. Squeeze your half lemon over top and sprinkle on coconut sugar. Mix together, then set a side.

In food processor combine the dry topping ingredients and process until crumbly. Set a side.

Then again in the food processor combine the wet yummy crumble ingredients. Process until crumbly and set a side.

Now layer the apples and wet crumble in a 8X8 square pan. Top off with the dry crumble and enjoy!!

Live Awesome!

OMG, that looks soooo good! I was just telling my husband how much I missed apple crisp and then you came up with this!! Thanks!

  2. Mmmm! Apple crumble :). I actually found a recipe for Carrot Pie. Enjoy:

    Carrot Pie, Veganized

    The Cheesy Part

    Ingredients
~1 lb. extra firm tofu, drained and crumbled
    ~3/4 cup raw, unsalted cashews
~2 tbsp. oil (I used canola)
~1 tsp. each: salt, paprika, dill
    ~Pinch of nutmeg
~A few grinds of fresh black pepper

    Directions
~Combine all the above ingredients and puree thoroughly in a a food processor (wasn’t that easy?)
    ~Set aside while you make…

    The Carroty Part

    Ingredients
~1 tbsp. Earth Balance (Mollie wanted 3 tbsp. butter: oy!)
    ~1 cup finely chopped onions
~1 lb. carrots, thinly sliced (about 3 cups)
    ~1 tsp. each: salt, paprika
    ~2 tsp. dill
    ~Fresh black pepper, to taste
    ~3 tbsp. flour

    Also
~2 single pie crusts; I used store bought, but if you prefer home-made, go for it (in fact, Mollie recommends an “eagerly awaiting nut crust,” make of that what you will)!
    ~1/2 cup panko crumbs
    ~1 tbsp. melted Earth Balance
~1/2 tsp. each: dill and paprika, for garnish

    Directions
~Preheat the oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
~In a large skillet or wok, melt the Earth Balance and saute the onions until soft, about 10 minutes.
~Add the sliced carrots, salt, paprika, dill and black pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes more, until the carrots are soft but not mushy.
~Stir in the flour to coat the vegetables, and remove from heat.
~Add the tofu mixture to the vegetables and combine thoroughly. Spoon the filling into your (eagerly awaiting) pie crusts.
~In a small bowl, combine the panko, melted EB, dill and paprika, then sprinkle half the mixture over each pie. Cover with foil, and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
~After 15 minutes, raise the heat to 400 degrees, remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, keeping an eye on things to make sure the topping doesn’t burn.
~Remove from oven and allow to set up for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing. We ate our carrot pie with a simple green salad topped with toasted walnuts, fresh basil and Annie’s Organic Goddess Dressing (because we’re still kinda hippies, you know?).

LUV IT. For her birthday, buy her a musical instrument and then prove your love by listening sweetly and patiently to her learn to play 🙂

  4. Sheree says:

Happy Birthday Early!! Kevin you should make her the happiest woman in the world by making all the meals for the day, take a long walk or hike in the fresh air, and find wild flowers along the way to smell and enjoy! I think this apple crumble looks fantastic!!

  5. Genevieve says:

That Apple Crumble looks yummy. It would be good cooked a bit too. ?

Kevin, I thin you should send AnnMarie to a good spa for the day to let her be pampered a bit. I can tell that she is very much a giver and this would be a way to give back to her. A treat. Happy Birthday AnnMarie.

  6. Happy Early Bday! My birthday was yesterday so thats cool =)

I’m gonna go make this right now, I have a bunch of apples I bought (awesome sale) but have no clue what to do with them. I think I just found my answer!

When Kevin asked you what you wanted for your birthday, I almost cried because the answer was just amazing.

    ——-

QOTD: one hour full body massage with nice hot oils. IOU coupons are also a good thing too. I would say give her like 3-5 IOU coupons for whatever she wants. That way she wins and you don’t have to do that much. =)

  7. craigs says:

    Hi Kev
My wife was walking bye . so I asked her !!!
Some type of Emerald ring or some type of Classy earings. Thanks. now i got an idea next year!!! lol

  8. elle-b says:

You guys just saved me in the nick of time, I have been craving this SO badly that I was contemplating making the terrible “other” version of crumble!
What to get Ann for her birthday?…A baby!… kidding!…I think you should write her a love ode on a guitar and serenade her on the next episode! Yes, that is it! 🙂

  9. Phyllis says:

I agree with the previous reader. Send Annmarie to a Day Spa to be pampered…..but, you both can go and enjoy! Happy Birthday, Annmarie! Enjoy yourself.

  10. katherine says:

For her birthday: Make it a week long celebration! So every day has a wonderful surprise 🙂 During the entire week you make her all the meals. Take her on surprise dates! Get her a different type of flower each day. Take her to a park. Take her to a movie. Make a thoughtful card for her. Give her a really nice massage every night before she goes to sleep. During the entire week, do 4 chores that she usually takes care of. It helps you to appreciate what she does for both of you. Go horseback riding together. Take her to a lake, rent a row boat and have a picnic together. Book a night at a hot spring and take a nice bath together and give her nice essential oil back and foot massage afterwards. Read an inspirational book together. Get her some time saving kitchen gadget or a new knife.

  11. Gina from W.Palm Bch says:

That looks amazing!!I think it’s time for a little baby AnnMarie–what a great birthday present.

  12. nick says:

I was thinking the same thing as Gina; I think AnnMarie would like A baby and a house. I’d start with the house first although the baby is more fun they are both a lot of work but my gut feeling is thats what AnnMarie wants.

  13. Okay so I’m making this right now but I did make a few changes. I used 3 Gala apples, 2 granny smith to start with, 1T of stevia and juice of half a HUGE lemon for starters. Then for the Topping I doubled it, altough I ended up only using half (oops guess I’ll have to make this again 😉 ). For the wet part I doubled it, I used fresh ground nutmeg (super strong compared to preground) so I only used a half tsp for the whole batch. And I don’t have vanilla powder, instead I use fresh vanilla. So I scrapped out 5 long b. Vanilla pods. I also added an extra tablespoon of raisins, added 2 tablespoons of stevia, and instead of rolled oats I used oat groats.

So I soaked my oat groats and almonds for about 30-40 mins. I ground up my topping in my vitamix with the dry container so it was like a powder. Then I mixed the wet topping, but since my food processer isn’t very good (just bought it and plan on returning it now!) I had to mix this up in my vitamix. Thats a problem, so my solution was to add a small handful of the apple slices, and 1/4 my mix, blend it up with water until it was like applesauce, did this again with another 1/4 the mixture (remember I doubled it!). Then added that with the rest which I managed to pulse up in the processor. Mixed VERY well, added an extra 2 tablespoons of stevia to it.

Instead of assembling it like annmarie did I decided to split mine into two containers, the first one I just took half my wet mix and half my apples and just mixed it all together well in a bowl with my hands, put into a small flat pan, topped with topping and I was done. The second one, I lined the bottom of the pan with the wet mixture, topped with apple slices, and put on the topping and was done.

I think they are great as is but I decided to put them in my excalibur @ 105F , I think I’ll have them in there for 2 hours, just enough time to go out and have dinner then come home and have dessert!

Will post again once we find out how they taste, but I can say it smells like christmas at my house now with the dehydrator warming up the apples, cinnamon and nutmeg!

    Mmm Mmm nom nom!

  14. Muriel says:

Kevin, for her birthday don’t let her lift a finger all day, prepare all the raw meals for the day and serve her with candle and great wine. Have flowers for her and just make her feel like the princess she is.
And who knows about the baby, it may just happen. lol

  15. Oxie says:

    Mmmm…nice recipe!
Happy Early Birthday AnnMarie…Kev, make her massage 😀 with candles and nice music on the background.

  16. Bella says:

Bob’s Red Mill is a company that provides gluten free oats!

  17. Gretchyn says:

too funny…no babies!…then there might not be time for daily renegade health show :)…for her birthday…whatever her heart desires! Happy Birthday!

  18. Connie says:

Remember it! Don’t forget like my husband did on Monday, despite numerous hints throughout the week. Then take care of the day’s meals yourself or take her out–just don’t make her do the same old routines.

  19. Megan says:

Thanks! I am LOVING the fall recipe and want more thanksgiving ideas!! 🙂
Okay, so I have tried for the second time to make a raw soup, I worked so hard, and it took a long time, to create this beet and carrot soup, and it didn’t turn out good! The first soup I made this summer was spinach and I think had avacado in it…These raw soups are turning out horrible for me! Do you know of any really good recipes for soups or do you not typically make raw soups?
    Thanks! Love the show!

  20. Janet says:

    Kev,

Get Ann Marie 3 weeks of face-to-face lessons with Cheri Soria for her birthday. If you think Ann Marie “cooks” good now, wait till you experience her cooking after Cheri! Then she can teach us some things too. It’s a win win all over the place. I wish I could do this myself so I have to wish Ann Marie, as my renegade sister, to get this gift from you 🙂

  21. Marcia says:

    Happy Birthday AM!!

I love to watch the two of you together — you are precious. Anne Marie with her lovely brown eyes sure seems to be an experienced un-cook and I appreciate the recipes. Kevin’s unrelated comments are sometimes distracting to the un-cooking process but, sometimes they add interesting tidbits. So I would not change a thing!

I have no idea what to give Ann Marie for her birthday but some of the above posts seem like great suggestions. The apple crumble looks really yummy, too — but being a diabetic and just beginning to go raw, I am not eating much fruit yet. Maybe later.

  22. nancy says:

    Kevin!
    you should bring Anne-marie
    to Montreal,Quebec
to eat at the Crudessence raw food restaurant
and if you do, let us know
    and we could join you
    and celebrate with you…

    happy birthday Anne-marie!

  23. Fontrella says:

Happy early Birthday Annmarie!! Kevin I think you should get her a day at the Spa gift certificate.

This recipe looks yummy! I will try this and I think I will put it in the dehydrator as well.

    Thanks

  24. Keith says:

    i like your comments kevin

  25. Kevin and Annmarie –

I’ve had something similar to this, but it was dehydrated and it REALLY made the flavours pop. Excellent breakfast idea, too!

Re: that pumpkin pie idea… I have a recipe on my site for a raw punkin pie that’s really good, if anyone’s interested: http://www.ritefoodandcompany.com/LMsKitchen_Archive.html#November2009

Re: ideas for Annmarie’s birthday… Always go for experiences: massages, day hikes, canoe trips, etc. There’s a lot to be said for time spent just focusing on that one person and maybe having them talk about their dreams and wishes.

    Have a good one, Annmarie!

  26. Joe says:

    Organize the best celebration ever!

    🙂

  27. john says:

Excellent show in the kitchen, the Ann Marie Apple crumble and both of you and the interactive joyful chemistry between both of you is Par excellant ! Kevin Grab a hold of your wife tell her you want to again reaffirm your marriage vows again to her, that no matter WHAT you will never leave her and forever stay committed to her and LOVE her and never divorce her ,till death do us part .And then KISS her on the smacker. The next level of binding each other would be to intermingling your God gifted DNA strands together and being blessed with lots of children ( YOUR social security ) for both of you when you get older, especially in this day and age and economy, etc. God bless both of you .

  28. Cynthia says:

Tickets to a Broadway show would be a nice treat for Annmarie’s birthday

  29. andrew says:

    Thanks

maybe a reflexology from Kevin as a present? (or both give reflexology to each other at the same time)

Google Deb Cummings pulse technique on youtube – may (or may not) help with alot of things

  30. Patty Foley says:

This year don’t give take away. Telephone, computor, car or anything that adds stress to the day. Its amazing the nice things you attract in that empty space.

    Happy Birthday Annmarie.

  31. John says:

I think the suggestions for giving her a massage are right on. That is my suggestion too. A little coconut oil works great for the massage oil and smells awesome too. 🙂

  32. Sharon says:

I also agree that a few days at the spa would make an great gift. You could also take a cruise or go to Italy. But whatever you do, don’t forget to give her flowers.
Anne Marie, you really touched my heart when you said you wish that people who were struggling to lose weight wouldn’t have to struggle anymore. I really need to lose a lot of weight and especially want to be healthy, but am having a hard time transitioning to a healthy raw\vegan diet. However, I am gonna keep trying.
Thank you Kevin and Anne Marie for all you do and for all your encouragement.

    That apple crumble looks delicious.

  33. Caleb says:

My fiance always loves back rubs, go with that!! 🙂

ALso, the apple crumble sounds amazing. Raw deserts are my favorite!

  34. Andria says:

Yum!!! Happy Birthday Annmarie!!!! Flowers are my favorite touch!!! Sprinkled flower petals are super romantic!!!! Have Fun & Enjoy!!! Thank You for the great recipe!!!!

  35. Take her on a weekend getaway to a romantic, secluded, tropical location.

    Happy Birthday, Ann Marie! 🙂

  36. Annmarie and Kevin, I just love this show. Awesome recipe. Can’t wait to try it! Happy birthday Annmarie, May the rest of your lives, that includes you too Kevin, be prosperous and fulfilled. My son in Idaho turned 30 today. Heh,

  37. Martha says:

Annmarie, I want u to know I heard your wish and it means so much to me, you see, I have 75 more pounds to lose and I needed to hear that someone understands and cares! Thank u! It was a sign that I am right in not giving up. I did the 7 day challenge and have lost 25 lbs since then and it has been one thing or another to slow me down, but I am resolved to not give up no matter how long it takes! I had a green smoothie for lunch before listening to this episode and I guess I could say my biggest change, as Kevin mentioned, is for me to turn away (even if 80% of the time) from the habits and traditions (like the one this Sunday!) that are so ingrained in the American lifestyle!

The gift I would like for Annmarie to get on her birthday is knowing how much she is appreciated!

My humble gratitude to you both!
    Martha;)

  38. Gordy says:

Great episode today! I eat at least 3 apples a day… usually with peanut butter mmmmm! My birthday is next week too and I usually throw myself a party every year. (A Halloween splashed margarita/fajitas party!!) An now, I know now what I am going to serve for dessert!!! Raw apple crumble!!
Thanks, Annmaire my fellow scorpion celebrity!

Spas, massages, flowers, movies, a doting Prince, all sound like great birthday ideas. But, how I like to spend my birthdays is by doing something out of routine and allowing the day to be explored as it arises on that day. Naturally,
only Annmarie should take the lead on what her needs and desires will be that day.

Then, at the end of the day… Kevin would surprise Annmarie with that fancy juice extractor or next big kitchen appliance that would be great for all the continuing cooking shows that Annmarie will be hosting.

No offense Kev, she’s just cuter!!

    Happy early Birthday, Love!

  39. Cindy says:

My first instinct was to say a day at the Spa, but i’m not sure how Ann Marie would feel about the products they use.
So my suggestion is to cook her something Yummy that she loves and give her a full body massage (with no strings attached). make the day all about her. Little surprises of things she loves is also a nice touch.
Happy Birthday Ann Marie. I wish you a wonderful, joyful day and an even better coming year.
    Thanks for the recipe.
Quick question – did you guys eat it. i thought you had a problem with fruit & fats. Or do you only eat things like this on occasion?

  40. Jo says:

Kevin and Annemarie, since you like to sing, I think you, (Kevin) should write a love duet so we can hear you sing together!! Happy Birthday, Annemarie!

  41. cindy says:

    happy birthday annemarie

  42. Oh my! raw pumpkin pie? yes please! really hope ull get ur hands on that recipe :]
and booyeah apple crumble! thats magic right there..
Dont really have any good ideas for Annmaries birthday… if it was me i would be all crafty and make something, maybe knit or crochet something. i also like giving meaningful gifts like “adopt a shark for a year” or invest in the rainforest or something.

Its saturday here now so Happy birthday Annemarie!

  43. Tom and Camille says:

    flowers a must (sunflowers)

    clean RV

    cook breakfast and lunch

    candle light dinner

    make it all about her

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNMARIE

  44. Jana says:

Happy birthday Annmarie. Kev, I think the best present would be for you to listen, listen some more, and keep listening until Annmarie fesses up what she wants for herself.

  45. jackie says:

Another great show, even with Kevin’s comments! In fact, his comments are often amusing and entertaining. Happy Birthday Ann Marie…I hope your day is truly special and you feel loved.
Don’t know what to suggest as a gift, Kevin…there are already many great ideas listed above.

  46. IvanZavala says:

You put cinnamon in everything it’s too bad I’m allergic to it,
I got a question have you ever read “Diet of the Masters”
Please let me know what you think.
    There’s the link http://www.timelesshealth.net/dietofmasters/
I believe the masters such as the tibetan monks, buddha, krishna knew something of unseen wisdom.

You two should make a baby.

  47. Theresa says:

Annmarie – your birthday wish is as precious and appreciated as you are! You and Kevin are already doing so much to help those of us who are struggling (I am seriously ill and overweight).Your heart work means so much to me and is helping me transform my life. Thank you.

Happy Birthday Annmarie. May this be a dream come true year for you!

  48. Melissa says:

Happy Birthday, Annmarie! Thank you so much for your yummy recipes! 😀
