Alright…

Before we go any further, I need to get this out on the table.

There is NO way I could fit all the great resources on health and nutrition in a Top 10 list!
:-)

Just not possible.

So what I did was put the resources that I visit and re-read on this list (and keep in mind these are extremely general). Maybe you’ve heard of them, maybe you haven’t.

Take a watch and tell me what you think… and if you have a guru, mention it below in the comments!

Your question of the day: What great health resources did I leave out?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comment now!

Please sign up for health book summaries if you haven’t already here: Click here now!

Live Awesome!
Kev

PS. Here’s a shout out to the ones that I’ve not included in this list…

Dr. Bernard Jensen
Dr. Norman Walker
Dr. Jeffrey Bland
Dr. Gabriel Cousens
Dr. J.E. Williams
Dr. John Christopher
Dr. Joel Fuhrman
Eric Schlosser
T. Colin Campbell
Dr. Jonny Bowden
Dr. Richard DiCenso

And a whole bunch more… :-)

Glad you included Michael Pollan in the list today. Another journalist who’s done a great job of documenting the problem with the modern diet is Randall Fitzgerald with his eye-opening book, The One Hundred Year Lie.
It’s preaching to the choir for most of us…but it’s a great resource to reach out to ‘convince’ others to stop and take a hard look at the significant role diet plays in the health of humankind. His statistics are mind-blowing! Check it out.

    Fantastic top 10 !!
My top 3 would be your site, Mike Adams’ and Dr Mercola’s one (even if he isn’t vegan !!).
In my library, I have a few books from Dr Catherine Kousmine that have been very helpful to me in the past : Be Well Till 80 and Beyond, Save Your Body. I liked to read her studies on RAW virgin vegetable oils.

Gary Null is an amazing resource. His website is http://www.garynull.com and his podcasts and radio shows, which are incredibly informative, can be accessed from there.

  5. Catherine on July 22, 2008 9:01 pm

I like Dr.Mercola and Weston Price. You mentioned before that you will have Sally Fallon on your show. Just wondering when that will be?

I used to love John Robbins books but since marrying my husband my view on farming has changed. He is a farm boy. I checked John’s website and he still seems to be pro soy and totally disregards how harmful phytates can be.

    From http://www.foodrevolution.org/what_about_soy.htm

“But the phytic acid levels found in a plant-based diet including a serving or two of soy a day are not high enough to cause mineral absorption problems for most people eating varied diets.”

One to two servings of soy a day is a bit excessive and it is what we where eating when my daughter started to have tooth decay.

Thanks for the other resources. I will check them out!

I have not ever heard of those books. My #1 would probably be naturalnews because they review products and I think Mike Adams is really hardcore about eating healthy, but I don’t know that for sure. I have also noticed some of your articles on the sight. And about weston price does brushing your teeth have anything to do with preventing tooth decay.

  7. Bob on July 22, 2008 9:54 pm

A book I would recommend is by Dr. Michael Platt: The Miricle of Bio-Identicle Hormones.
I hope you get a chance to read it. I also would appreciate your feedback.
    Keep up the great work.

    Hi Kevin,
Love all of your recommendations, especially Dr. Mark Hyman. Here are a few websites that I use on a regular basis:

    http://www.totalhealthbreakthroughs.com
    http://www.organicconsumers.org

  10. cheryl on July 22, 2008 10:05 pm

Thanks Kevin, This is a great start for me. I am off to the book store.

  11. Lora on July 22, 2008 10:06 pm

I have been reading Naturalnews (Mike Adams) since he first created his website. That led me to Dr. Mercola’s and then to yours truly. I have been absorbing all this information on a daily basis and am grateful to be “in the know”. I have just recently been introduced to Shane Ellison “The People’s Chemist” and Craig Pepin-Donat. But I have to say for me that Mike of Naturalnews is my mentor and would be ranked #1. I will be adding Healthfetch to my daily routine as well. Thanks! PS> I started my year off with the “Healthiest Year of Your Life” and so far it been an awesome year!

Thanks for your comments guys! I really think we might take the top 10 with us for the long haul… maybe do it 2X a month or so… seems like you guys have some awesome ideas that I want to run with!

    Dear Kevin,

I love lists! Keep them coming.

Why does it surprise you that a journalist, specifically Michael Pollan, can be such a great resource? If a journalist is truly doing her job, she gathers information, researches the credibility of the information and objectively reports what she finds. The ability to synthesize, evaluate, and analyze is a quality all good writers and especially journalists share. Michael Pollan, lucky for us, uses his journalism training to research and report about biology and most recently agri business.

  14. Gary on July 22, 2008 11:47 pm

Great idea for your 100th! World’s healthiest foods is an awesome resource for individual foods with their bar graphs and additional info for each food.

  15. Steve on July 22, 2008 11:56 pm

    Kevin -
Thank you for this very much needed information.

I DO have Dr. Hyman’s “5 Forces of Wellness” CD program. Which lead me on a year long path through intravenious chelation for heavy metal poisoning and heart blockage.

Now, I’m dealing with skin cancer and time & time again, I find myself going back to my original copy of Eall Mendell’s Vitamin Bible, I’ve had since the early 1980’s. It gives detailed info on how vitamins & minerals interact with each other and how to get them through foods if/when you don’t want to use supplements. It also explains what can happen if I get too much or too little of a certain supplement.

I fount it really helped me with my sugar cravings, depression, & stress.

Your short video programs offer me tons of encouragement when I feel like giving up. Just knowing that there are other people helping themselves and SEEING how it can be done gives me hope.

Please don’t stop at “hundreds” of videos - keep going into the “thousands” and beyond!

    Thank you,
    - Steve

  16. Guylaine on July 23, 2008 12:29 am

Thanks kevin for the top 10. I’ll be checking a couple of sites that you recommend. As my number one it would be The China Study. A great reference book.

  17. Carrie on July 23, 2008 12:53 am

For all the Germans out there is http://www.symptome.ch a great site if you are fighting the cause rather than the symptoms. My own blog about fighting against amalgam is http://www.wannabehealthy.blog.de
    Also great: http://www.ein-langes-leben.de

I like Norman Walker and David Wolfe though I’m no raw foodie anymore. Thank your for listing up other sources which I will check out soon.

  18. rose on July 23, 2008 6:20 am

the video aint working…can’t watch it.

  19. Meri on July 23, 2008 6:55 am

I really hold David Wolfe in high regard, and a tonne of info can be found on http://www.thebestdayever.com
If I ever get the chance I will lock him in a room and pick his brains for hours!!
Mike Adams is also awesome. He just talks so much sense and I love his newsletter and radio show. Dr Mercola is also a great source of info.

Plus yourself of course, Kevin. I have had so many great information programs from you - like the Raw Summit, Fountain of Youth summit and Water secrets, as well as your regular interviews with people in the health industry and all these great shows. I know you can’t big yourself up too much in a top ten like this, but you deserve the credit for providing all this great content. Thank you!
    :-)

I am posting on this same episode but just this morning I was looking up the book by weston price and found a website that has probably hundreds of free books and weston price’s is on there. I just found this a few minutes ago so I don’t know much about it but the adress is http://journeytoforever.org/farm_library.html

  21. Jean on July 23, 2008 9:30 am

I love all of those books Kevin, thanks for doing this it was great. Some of my fovorites are Kitchen Garden by Steve Meyerowitz/sproutman.com. And I also love the famous Ann Wigmore, I can’t seem to learn enough from her. She was a great caring lady.

  22. Carissa on July 23, 2008 9:42 am

What about Norm Shealy? The tens unit, HOLOS University, love of the word “pharmacomafia”…

I would toss him in as my #7.

  23. Bernadette on July 23, 2008 9:56 am

Congratulations, Kevin and Annmarie, on your 100th show. It seems like just yesterday, you were announcing your 50th. How time flies when we’re having fun!!

You must have read my mind when you did top 10 resources. I was going to ask for that one so I really enjoyed it. Some other ideas that could be interesting are: top 10 ways to relax (or reduce stress in your life), top 10 ways to make someone’s day, and top 10 ways to keep smiling in the face of adversity or trying situations. The Renegade Health Show would be my #1 in all of the above. :) Keep them coming Kevin.

This is an awesome list Kevin!

For health-first fitness and training, I turn to Scott Sonnon’s Circular Strength Training (CST)program at RMAX International. I got started with a joint mobility program years ago, and fell in love with the revolutionary, yet common-sense approach that Sonnon has to training. Now, I have incorporated much of CST into my lifestyle.

I think this is the most sophisticated health-first training system in the USA that is widely available to anyone wishing to pursue it.

  25. Marion on July 23, 2008 11:45 am

Thanks for this great list. I have been to all these sites except for whfoods.com. Thanks for keeping us updated on the best resources for our health.

  26. peseta on July 23, 2008 12:02 pm

Others have said this before, but print is SO much faster than slooow video, and surely a Top 10 list is best in print– unless your name is Letterman.
The same is true of interviews; text rules! Note how many negatives about Viktoras Kulvinskas had to do with his style, and a few couldn’t understand him. Text removes stylistic trivia, and you can read it much faster than he can speak it.
    Video is so yesterday.

  27. tfitz on July 23, 2008 12:11 pm

Hi Kevin — Good summary could you list the websites for the resources you mentioned.
    thanks.

  28. Karen Jackson on July 23, 2008 1:10 pm

My guru is definitely Mike Adams. What I have learned through NaturalNews has changed my life. I have never felt better in my whole life! Thanks Kevin for your great shows.

    Hi Kevin,

I’ve been enjoying your shows for some time now. I’m a health coach myself and the one person that has had a tremendous impact on my life is Paul Chek. I know most of the recources that are mentioned up until now. I can’t believe though nobody has mentioned him. He is extremely knowledgable on basically everything that has to do with health and vitality. From excercise to nutrition to spirituality. I guess the best way to introduce yourself with his teachings is through :

You can also check out his blog:

or you can go to ppssuccess.com

That’s just my 5 cents. Thanks for your work! Keep it up!

    Dear Kevin and AnnMarie
Love your show and can’t wait to see you on TV. I have a question that just baffles me: I have in front of me a package of ORGANIC Pacific Nori rolls (complete with “Pledge of Organic Purity”. What gets me is the “Fresh Pack” inside it warns, “This package contains a packet of moisture-absorbing powder to protect the nori from dampness. DO NO EAT CONTENTS OF THIS PACKET.” What’s in the packet - touching my food, that I can’t eat?
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Can’t get enough.

I also highly recommend Colleen’s site - Compassionate Cooks. She not only shares her knowledge of vegan nutrition but promotes kindness to all animals - even her garden slugs.

    Hi Kevin,
I got started with Traci & Kal Sellers on http://www.KalsSchool.com and reading Traci’s transformational Health Principles which is a free downloadable e-book. My journey progressed with David Wolfe at http://www.thebestdayever.com. Also, and you’ll have to appreciate this, you tube!!!!! I found Mike Adams and then you & Ann Marie and my journey continues with great gratitude to all of you!
Thank-you for bringing health issues to my computer 5 days a week. I enjoy all of them and even if I don’t post……..I watch.

  37. Nisha on July 24, 2008 1:21 am

You forgot your very own Renegade Roundtable! The Renegade Roundable was what truly started in my raw foods last year. I loved the interviews.

I also love a book called ‘Nourishing Traditions’ by Sally Fallon (her works is based on Weston Price principles).

Art De Vaney is another pioneer in fitness - he is 71 years old and is unbelievably fit - his work outs are very short and intense and only a couple of workouts a week. Great for a busy schedule!

  38. Jessica on July 24, 2008 2:01 am

Can you compile the list of the websites, please, that would be fantastic!!!

  39. Kay on July 24, 2008 10:39 am

    Hi Kevin,

I find Dr. Ellen Tart-Jensen book very informative. Health is Your Birthright. She also conducts seminars around the world. She is the daughter-in-law of Dr. Bernard Jensen.

    Kay

  40. Gayle on July 25, 2008 8:30 pm

I would add Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s - “Eat to Live”. His book introduced me to living a healthy lifestyle. I joined his website: drfuhrman.com because he gives great advice. I also advocate the Hallelujah Acres web site. It is religion based - but their message is great and rational. I lost 65 lbs because of these two web sites. I consider them both to be #1 on my Top 10 List!

  41. Megan on July 26, 2008 3:09 am

    Hi Kevin/AnnMarie
    Great show :)
One resource that I particularly like is the soil and health library http://www.soilandhealth.org/
which has many free books available in the collection. Although generally older resources I find them very useful and it’s well worth a look.

My current favorite book is Natalia Rose’s Raw Detox Diet - her approach makes a lot of sense to me and I feel more relaxed about the raw food lifestyle.

And of course your show is a wonderful daily inspiration - thank you!
