I’ve been straying away from answering questions on the videos, because I know I can answer them more thoroughly in an article, but…

Today, I have two questions that I can handle pretty well without having to write anything out. First up, is this one… I would love to fast for all those days, but a day is all I can handle. Any suggestions? Second is, “It’s all very well doing a 3 day fast because you want to cleanse your body, but how will you know whether it is cleansed or not?”

Here are my answers now…

Your question of the day: Is there a place for fasting near you? What is the name of it?

Serenity Smoothie – A Delicious Recipe from Susan Smith Jones, Ph.D.

If you’re feeling irritable or anxious, this colorful drink will lift your spirits and lower your stress levels. It features lemon balm (also known as Melissa or Balm), a member of the mint family that helps combat mild forms of anxiety and irritability. Lemon balm calms the nerves, supports emotional well-being, and promotes restful sleep. You may want to double or even quadruple this recipe so you’ll have it available for snacks during the day or evening before bedtime.

To change the flavor and to add variety and a different color, experiment. Instead of Lemon Balm tea, use Hibiscus Tea as the liquid base (helps lower cholesterol), Chamomile Tea (is calming and relaxing), or Peppermint Tea (calms an upset stomach). Vary the fruit each season. Bananas and kiwi combined in the smoothie with a liquid base of Jasmine Green Tea helps boost metabolism and is delicious, too. You could also add some leaves of romaine lettuce or baby leaf spinach to the recipe.

If the tea is already made, this smoothie takes fewer than five minutes to create.

Makes two servings

Serenity Smoothie Recipe

1 ruby red grapefruit, outer skin peeling (leave pithy part on)

1 pear

8 strawberries with green tops (fresh or frozen)

1 cup freshly brewed lemon balm tea*

1/4 inch piece fresh ginger root (optional)

Dash of cinnamon

Blend and enjoy!

*I purchase the lemon balm from PennHerb.com in 16 oz. bags and keep a brewed pitcher of the tea on hand in my refrigerator at all times.

We met Christine for the first time in Southern California…

She’s one of our long-time viewers and Inner Circle members.

When we met her, she had made some amazing carrot bread and shared a bunch with us.

The raw food recipe was so good that Annmarie made the mistake of leaving it with me before she tried any more than a bite.

But don’t worry, I’ll vouch for it. It’s really, really good.

Take a look here…

Your question of the day: Which do you prefer (or did!)… carrot cake or chocolate cake?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comments now!

Here’s the raw food recipe:

Christine’s Carrot Raisin Bread

- 3 cups shredded carrots (I prefer using the food processor, but you can juice in juicer to make carrot pulp if you prefer)
- 1 cup soaked raisins
- 1 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp spice of choice: nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon
- 1/2 – 2/3 cup raisins
- 1/3 cup coconut (shredded)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or nut of your choice)
- 1 cup golden flax seeds – ground for recipe
- 1/3 or so cup golden flax seeds-ground for rolling the bread in
- Optional: Pinch of Celtic salt

Shred carrots in food processor with the “shredding blade” & take out of food processor when finished. Put the soaked raisins in food processor with the “s” blade and puree (if using carrot pulp from juicer – add a little raisin soak water)

Add to the pureed raisins: Carrots, spice, salt (optional), Vanilla

Process mix in the food processor. Put the mix in a bowl. Stir in raisins, coconut and pecans.

Then add most of the cup of flax and stir… if it is too wet still, add the rest of the cup to it. Dust a cutting board with some of the 1/3 cup ground flax, holding some out for the second loaf.

Form the mix into two bread loaves. Roll first loaf into ground flax meal for a crust. Slice first loaf into bread slices… you can lightly dust each slice with the ground flax to help hold it together.

Put the slices on a dehydrator tray. Do the same with the second loaf. Dehydrate five to seven hours… Time will vary based on how thick you sliced the bread, how juicy the bread was, and how moist you like it… just experiment

SPREAD:

We either eat it plain, with raw honey spread on it, or we whip up a cashew crème topping in our Magic Bullet.

Cashew Crème Topping:

Blend the following to taste: Soaked Cashews, Water, Vanilla, Lemon Juice, and Honey.

Enjoy!

(BTW: Christine has a website that we want to share with you… it will be here by tomorrow!)

Live Awesome!
Not a bad place to spend the sunrise, eh?

Before the weekend officially starts, I wanted to share a list of 6 things that you can do to improve your health this weekend…

The reason why I’m sharing this list, is because it’s the list that Annmarie and I came up with for our own weekend options this 4th of July weekend.

If the activities are good enough for us, they’re good enough for you.

Do me a favor and work at least one of these into your plans this weekend. You’ll be thankful you did.

Here they are…
