Yesterday, I spoke about the great options you have for eating in Lima, Peru…

Remember, these are only some of the many. I hope that if you travel to Peru, you come back and add your suggestions to these two pages.

Today, I’m going to talk about the options here in Cusco.

Keep in mind, there are many advertised healthy places here in Cusco. We’ve tried many of them.

The ones that are the best are listed here. You may find something cheaper that is healthy, but it may not taste so good. Believe me… it’s best to go with what you (or we know!)

So here we go, in no particular order…

She’s probably right.

But anyway, today, I want to share my scribbled notes with you, since if you ever come down to Lima (Part 1) and Cusco (Part 2), you’ll have some great options mapped out for you already.

First off for today, let’s start with Lima… (I’ll cover Cusco tomorrow)

No matter where I go, or who I talk to, the most common questions about healthy foods that I get are specifically of these nature…

Why should I eat organic food vs conventional? Are organic foods really better than conventional foods? How do I know that I’m not being scammed?

You’d think that with the scientific evidence that pesticides are harmful and organics have more nutrients than conventional foods that people would start switching over.

But it’s not the case. I read in a magazine recently that 98% of the population still doesn’t eat organics (who knows if that number is right or not, but even if it’s 70%, it’s still a big deal!)

Many of you who read this blog, are in that other 2%, but we still want our friends, family members and fellow humans to be healthy and not suffer from unnecessary toxic load.

So I’ve created a demonstration, that hopefully we can share that may change our perspective on the importance of organic foods…

Your question of the day: What have you done or said to effectively demonstrate the importance of organic food and produce?

Remember the talk in school about how marijuana was a gateway drug…

The premise is that if you try smoking pot, it becomes an entry point into trying others drugs and then suddenly, as the story goes, you’re an addict trying everything else under the sun.

Well, I think raw food desserts are like a gateway drug–not in the morbid picture I painted above–but in a very good way.

It’s probably the best way to get Mom or Dad or Uncle Phil, to actually “give” raw food or vegan food or even just organic food a shot.

Watch how to make this “gateway” pie and then deliver the goods to your friends and family… who knows you might end up their “supplier”

Your question of the day (continued from yesterday): Just didn’t get enough discussion on yesterday’s post, so I’ll try one more time… what do you think about raw chocolate (or cacao)? Just a treat or everyday food?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and post your comment!

Live Awesome!
Kevin

PS. Here’s that awesome recipe…

Raw Blueberry Chocolate Pie – Filling from Shazzie and David Wolfe’s Naked Chocolate Book, Crust from Nomi Shannon’s The Raw Gourmet

Pie Crust:

1 1/4 Cup Organic Raw Almonds (Soaked)
6 Organic Dates
1 Tbsp Water
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
Dash of Cinnamon

Pie Filling:

2 Cups Organic Raw Cashews
2 Cups Fresh Organic Blueberries
2 Tablespoons Raw Agave Nectar
2 Tablespoons of Raw Cacao Powder

Instructions: Put all pie crust ingredients into a food processor or Vitamix and blend. Press into a pie dish and dehydrate for 4-6 hours. Put all pie filling ingredients into your Vitamix and blend. (Pretty simple right?) Put pie filling into pie crust once it’s dehydrated and put in the freezer for 1 hour. You can keep it in the freezer for a while, just make sure that if you don’t serve it within the hour, that you take it out and let it warm up for 30-45 minutes before serving!

Enjoy!
