Annmarie decided to try a raw food recipe for garden sunburgers. Good news is that you can use either a dehydrator or the oven to get these ready to go.

Take a look…

Your question of the day: What do you like on your burgers?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comments now!

Here’s the raw food recipe:

Garden Sunburger

1/2 cup ground sunflower seeds
1/2 cup ground chia seed
1/3 cup chopped carrot
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 shallot, chopped
2-3 scallions, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 tsbp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
1/2 tbsp olive oil
Sea Salt and Pepper to taste
water as needed

Mix together all ingredients in a bowl except for the water. Slowly add water until it is easy to form patties. Once texture is achieved shape into patties and dehydrate at 115 degrees for 3-4 hours on one side then flip and let them dehydrate for an additional 3-4 hrs. If you don’t have a dehydrator or the time, you can cook these at low-temp (approx 200 degrees) for about 40 min or until crispy. Yields 4-5.

Live Awesome!

Good news is that now you have this awesome raw granola recipe as well!

Your question of the day: What do you like in your granola?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and add your comment!

Raw Granola or “G-rawwww-nola” Recipe (“The Best Raw Granola in the Universe Ever Plus One”)

2/3 Cups Sprouted Buckwheat
1/2 Cup Sprouted Sunflower Seeds
1/2 Cup Sprouted Oats
1 Cup Chopped Soak Almonds
(the dry ingredients you can play around with… add more nuts that you like add more oats if you you like less buckwheat… what ever you like )

1/4 Cup Coconut Oil*
1/4 cup Raw Local Honey or Maple Syrup*

*to liquefy place decided amount in small jar then place small jar in warm water or out in sun

1 Tbsp Vanilla
Cinnamon to liking
Sea Salt to liking

If you have a Kevin at home plan on doubling the recipe!

Mix together all together with hands. Spread on Dehydrator Sheet and dehydrate at 115 for 8-12 hours.

Serve with a Nut milk and dried or fresh fruit!! Enjoy!

You can put this in the oven at a low temperature if you don’t have a dehydrator… it may not still be “raw” but it will still taste awesome and is still a pretty healthy alternative to Twinkies and Mountain Dew…

Live Awesome!

This raw flax cracker and guacamole recipe is (in my opinion, ’cause it’s mine!) the best there is out there. I don’t know why, it just tastes great every single time.

It’s a great appetizer for guests or just for yourself!

Go ahead and take a look…

Your question of the day: How are you? We haven’t heard from some of you in a while… let us know what you’re up to and what shows you like best!

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and add your comment…

Raw Flax Crackers

(Adapted from GoneRaw.com)

2 cup Flax Seed
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked in 1 cup lukewarm water until soft
1 1/4 cups pumpkin seeds, soaked and drained
1 Handful Cilantro
1 Handful Parsley
1 Tbsp Nama Shoyu
1 Lemon freshly squeezed
Sea Salt, Black Pepper, and Crushed Red Pepper to taste!

Instructions…

Soak flax seeds in a large bowl with 2 1/2 cups of filtered water and soak seeds for at least 30 minutes. Mix all other ingredients (including sun-dried tomato soak water) in a food processor and process until smooth.

Then mix all ingredients together with the food processor on pulse. Spread evenly on the teflex dehydrator sheets and dehydrate at 115°F for 6 hours. Flip and transfer to a mesh screen for 6 more hours. You can score the crackers when you put them on the sheet so they break evenly when they’re done.

Kevin’s Guacamole (Serves 6)

6 Avocados
2 Tomatoes
1 Onion
1 Handful of Cilantro
Juice of 1 Lemon
Sea Salt to Taste

Dice, slice, mush and serve!

Live Awesome!
Kevin

Sometimes Annmarie and I get really tired of raw smoothies.

So when we do, we… OK, fine… Annmarie makes this special raw buckwheat porridge.

It was originally a recipe for buckwheat crispies that you put in the dehydrator, but Annmarie didn’t like them dried out.

So she put the mix in a bowl with some sliced organic fruit and some almond milk and gave it a shot.

It was awesome! So now we bring another healthy and raw breakfast option to you…

Your question of the day? What raw breakfast do you eat? (That’s not a smoothie!)

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and be sure to leave your favorite raw, non-smoothie breakfast!

Here’s the recipe for today’s raw breakfast…

Raw Buckwheat Porridge

2 Cup Buckwheat Groats
Agave Nectar to Taste (Approx 1/3 Cup)
1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon or 1 heaping tablespoon of raw cacao powder!
Pinch of Sea Salt

Instructions: Original recipe says soak the buckwheat groats for 1 hour… but I like to say overnight. Up to you… you’ll be able to digest better the longer you soak them. Mix everything in a food processor or Vitamix. Garnish with your favorite fruit and nut milk. (Or you can dehydrate them and make crispies!)

Live Awesome!
Kevin

PS. I watched a few documentaries this week… I’ll be talking about them more last week. Here’s one that I consulted on in the early stages and now it’s a full feature:

I recently visited Catch a Healthy Habit Cafe in West Haven, CT (about an hour from my house in Danbury)…

I had a great time with owner, Glen Colello, as he showed me around and we talked how to build a health business. He had some great insight about how he got moving on this new venture and shared an amazing, easy raw recipe for “Best Coconut Chocolate Cookies Ever”.

This show was fun to make and equally as fun to watch…

Here’s the “Catch a Healthy Habit Best Coconut Chocolate Cookie Ever” Recipe:

3 Cups Shaved Coconut

1 1/2 Cup Cacao Powder

3/4 Cup of Agave Nectar

1/4 Cup Coconut Oil

Pinch of Sea Salt

Instructions: Get some love and mix it up with your hands. Put in the fridge for 20 minutes, scoop out the mix with a ice cream scoop and put on a dehydrator tray. Dehydrate for 1-2 hours. (Or if you can’t wait, put ‘em in the fridge, wait 20 minutes, scoop them onto a plate and dig in… )

Your question of the day: (Inspired by Bernadette) What are your favorite raw recipes so we can prepare them on the show?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and share your thoughts so we can have an archive (eventually) of raw food recipes for those rainy, “what should I make” days!

BTW: If you’re in the tri-state area (Connecticut, New York, New Jersey) or Rhode Island or Massachusetts, please be sure to visit Glen’s site (click here) and give him your name and email so you can get updates of upcoming events. He’s got some great people coming to his cafe in the future that you will want to see and network with!

Live Awesome
Kevin
