So naturally, when were in Peru, we wanted to find at least one (we went to two!) so we could get our bathing fix.

In Peru, the main mountain range is the Andes which are some of the most rugged in the world, so clearly there are some fissures that release hot water.

This trip was a full on adventure, which you’ll see in just a moment – from the beginning of the trip all the way to the end.

In this episode, we’re going to show and tell you about our yoga swing and how it can be beneficial for someone who has back pain or tightness…

We’re off to Las Vegas today, so before we packed our yoga swing up we had time to do a little demo for everyone.

You don’t need to have a Yoga Swing to do all of this, but it’s a great tool to have for flexibility, relief and strength building.

Check it out…

Your question of the day: What do you have to “show and tell”?

Here is where you can contact the School and ask for administrative reform: Click Here for Tufts Nutrition and Policy contact info. The Dean’s name is Dr. Eileen Kennedy, so I’d make sure you contact her as well as her colleagues.

Here’s a brief letter I wrote to the school… You can write your own, or just resend mine.

Subject:

FW: Letter to Tufts Nutrition and Policy Dean

Body:

Dear Dr. Eileen Kennedy,

I’m deeply concerned that you, as the Dean of Tufts School of Nutrition Science and Policy, have teamed with the food industry to mislead the public into believing nutrition choices such as Cocoa Puffs and Froot Loops could be a “Smart Choice” for any consumer. (For those unaware of this reference, please see: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/05/business/05smart.html)

Consumers do make choices based on what the labels say. The Food Marketing Institute reported in 1999 that 59 percent of consumers have changed purchases because of information on the product label, and nutrition is the second most important factor in consumer food purchase decisions after taste (FMI, 1999) (From: http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/aer793/aer793e.pdf).

I’m not interested in attempting to sway your opinion on the issue of “Smart Choices”.

I am writing to just simply remind you that the only continuing education millions of Americans get about nutrition is from food labels.

It is the responsibility of upstanding, non-biased institutions like Tufts to police industry, not work with them to come to policy that “approves” of sugary, processed foods as good choices for our children.

I am also writing this to your colleagues at Tufts to remind them that your decisions and policies reflect on them and your institution. I can’t imagine all of the faculty agree with the standards set by the “Smart Choices” program.

It is not under my power to ask for your resignation due to gross negligence to the American people by allowing this policy to be publicized and carried out, since I have no authority to do so. But I do urge your colleagues to consider your replacement.

I’m sure there is someone who will gladly step up and be a role model and leader who stands for real nutrition science and the health of a population – not fuzzy, industry sponsored policy.

Please let me know if you have further comments, I would love to have you on our podcast program to explain your position on the program.
