Annmarie and I love soup and this one is a great one for all those fall and winter vegetables.
We also get a little closer to revealing our plans for 2009… take a look…

Here’s the recipe for Curried Butternut Squash Soup
2 Cups Butternut Squash
2 Cups Sprouts (broccoli, pea shoots, clover, sunflower, or any combination)
1-2 Cups Water
1/4 cup almonds, soaked overnight and blanched
1/2 Cup chopped yellow onion
3/4 tsp ground Ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 TBSP cumin
1/2 tsp coriander
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1 clove garlic
Blend adding water in slowly to get to your desired thickness. Garnish and serve
If you like it more on the sweeter side you can always add 1 cup of fresh orange juice in place of the water.
*this recipe is from Living in the Raw by Rose Lee Calabro

I’m guessing you guys are moving somewhere warmer. Arizona maybe?
I think youre moving to California. Or maybe Sedona…
I don’t know where you guys are planning on moving to but my vote is Austin (or a little closer to Copperas Cove, TX) Texas, I would soooooooooo love to be a client of yours and get to hang out with you two. Much love and best wishes.
Karen
Please address Molasses
LOL bouncing tangerines!!
Did have such a great time out west you’re going to pack up and move to California?
Also living in New England I have dreams of Georgia and Florida this time of year, perhaps you’re feeling the same way?
Even if you’re only moving down the block moving can be both stressful and wonderful! And it’s a great opportunity to let go of things you’ve been clinging to for too long (looks like you’re already getting the ball rolling there!)
Hmmm…most people I know get a lot of gas when they try to eat raw butternut squash. Anyone else out there with that kinda feedback?
Hiya again ya’ll, I’m listening to Sacred Steve tonight and he was talking about a Shaman say to him that maple is good for the blood, just thought I’d throw that in for you :). You guys rawk, thank you and keep it up.
Karen
My guess on where Kevin and Annmarie might be moving… westcoast?
Are you California dreaming? I hope so
Thank you for keeping us balanced…I completely agree with you that it’s okay (and probably even healthy) to have a little maple syrup or agave every now and then. The stress of trying to attain dietary perfection (if there is such a thing) probably causes the very disease we are attempting to prevent.
You guys should definitely come out west!!
California??? If so, I’d be one of the first to welcome you to this warm and lovely state!!
Although you & AnneMarie have been hanging out in warm places. You are always talking about your clients.. I don’t think you would leave them..Although a warmer climate this time of year might seem like a treat.. So my thoughts are in a round about way.. your either moving closer to nature around where you live now, somewhere out to the country…… or moving to Arizona or California..some place warm.. Don’t keep us hanging too long … Have you considered Tennessee.. mild winters very close to nature, lots of outdoor things to do…no smog!!
Am I getting close?
It might be hard to move away from family, so my guess is you’ll stay in the Conn. area. But any move is an adventure, so if you are moving it’ll be fun watching your plans progress!
Also, I was hoping you could expand on the ‘blanched almonds’ in your soup recipe. When I blanch almonds, I do it for 10 seconds, do you think that kills all the enzymes? I pour boiled water into the container holding the almonds and in 10 seconds I drain and immediately rinse in cold water. Is that how you do it? The skins seem to come off pretty easily after that.
Thanks for the recipe, I’ll try it soon and I am glad you are encouraging us to use less sweetening in our food! I believe that our tastebuds adjust as we begin to really enjoy the incredible true flavors of what we eat. When I was younger, I couldn’t even enjoy tea without honey!
California is wonderful — move here!!
Are you guys moving to… Argentina?
Have been loving your show. Congrats!
Cheers from Brazil,
Andrea
A good place to be is right here in the Sunshine State. Miami, Fl
Speaking of relaxing about the dogma of “raw”. I love butternut squash soup. May I suggest to go ahead and enjoy hot butternut squash soup on a cold winter day once in awhile? Just roast or steam the squash. Then peeling it is much easier and you don’t waste as much squash. Last, blend it with spices and H20-YUM! No oranges necessary. The natural sugars in the butternut squash are enough sweet for even the those with the most acute sweet tooth. This is comfort food at its healthiest and still subscribes to the principal of eating as close to nature as you can.

Are you moving to Sedona Arizona?
Let me guess. One of the following:
Arizona, California, Florida, Costa Rica
So you didn’t like my 1000 books idea. Well I won’t guess you’re moving to the land of 1000 lakes then (Minnesota). Probably West (tough guess there huh?) Either the Portland, Oregon area or SW to Arizona. If not, then Eastern Australia! It’s good to move early in your marriage, before you start a family and grow “roots.” Congrats!
HAWAII
Studies can prove anything! LOL. Each to their own I think. People cannot stress too much about food or the stress will undo any good that eating healthy food is trying to achieve! xoxox
You might be moving to Hollywood, California where you will become more famous than you already are! You will be known as the “Vegan Gurus”.
Nebraska can be fun at times! Lots of cows though, ugh!
Thanks Anne Marie… u scare me w/ that knife. Please curl ur fingers back a bit when u chop, as don’t want u to hurt urself. Peace…Enzymeluv
California
if not at least a warmer climate:)
I’m guessing that are moving someplace:
- warmer
- where the cost of living is more reasonable
- where the environment is less polluted
- where you can afford to buy a home and plant a garden
- where people from the Northeast don’t feel alienated
So - you’re probably moving to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico, rural southern California, Florida, or New Mexico. You could also consider moving to Washington or Oregon, but if that’s where you’re going, brace yourselves. It’s not New England.
I’ve lived in or been to many of these places. They are great - but - lots of folks would be surprised at how nice it is to live in the middle of the country! We have big water here, too, and some of the best sunsets in the world.
I think you are advising in the wrong direction without enough experience. I went through the ’sugar confusion’ stage myself - then I really dug into the Dr. William Howard Hay material - the man who healed some 60,000 patients through OJ fasting. Prior to that, I did ‘phase 1′ for 2 years and it became so counter-productive that I simply couldn’t tolerate ANY amount of sugar. During that time, I was getting worse and worse and it wasn’t until I brought back the various forms of sugar before the intestinal symbiosys began to come back around. The key is that one MUST keep the sugars seperate from everything else if they have any dysbiosys challenges - we thrive on these sugars just as well as the little bad guys do, it’s just a matter of taking just enough so as not exceed our digestive capabilities.
wow - - just gotta say - - the question and answer session after the Jason Deitch interview tonight was the best, Kevin!! I loved the discussion on self-discipline vs self desire….you really nailed it!! Thanks for EVERYTHING - hugs, Dede
u’re shows soooooooo entertaining and inspiring.I think it’s ok that recommend maple syrup-at least it’s VEGAN.
HONEY is NOT VEGAN.I now u always talking about veganism and honey is really bad for ur liver,by the way,
it’s just to sweet so let’s stick to fruits as u mentioned already.
keep up ur awesome work and respect bees
vegan power is everlasting!
So much for in the kitchen (What was that Annmarie was making)? lol….
I can’t help but wonder how many other natural health items will fall into the, not as healthy as we thought category, like tofu.
I have mostly fruit for sweets but have been using a small amount of Agave syrup. I’ll probably switch to raw local honey, and very little of that…
Are you moving somewhere you’ll have two growing seasons? Where all your food can be harvested from your garden?
I’m thinking you’re staying close to family, so possibly nearby. Or you’re moving to a Latin speaking country. I’m a Libra, can’t make up my mind.
I have a question - the recipe says for the almonds to soak overnight and blanched. Can you tell us what it meant by that (I thought blanching was a quick dip in boiling water)?
Great show! I’ve got some b’nut squash to make this, looks good! *Ü*
Great show…look forward to making that recipe this weekend with my fiance. I’m going to guess southern CA, Florida or another country like Ecuador or Costa Rica
All great choices. I’m also going add it’s likely more rural and sustainable [living-wise] than your current location.
Kevin, can you talk about Light Speed Reading, Photoreading and such likes? Thank you!
If I were you moving I would move to Vilcabamba Ecuador looks like heaven to me!
Oh, you have to be going somewhere that is more accepting of our lifestyle and where you’ll have access to many others in the field…Mike Adams’ advertised paradise? Arizona or California?
btw: Nice recipe. Nice job Annemarie, even if you had to compete with Kevin’s charming chatter. ;^)
Would you be moving to Vilcabamba, Ecuador by chance?…
Kevin and Annemarie,
Don’t bees also infuse their honey with a self produced enzyme which also effects their honey in a similar fashion as agave?..
Annemarie, thanks for this recipe…I’ll give it a go!
maybe your moving to california because your out here alL THE TIME.
I’m going to guess Ecuador. Then you and Mike can make some nice outdoor videos!
Another nice video! I love your sense of humor. I’m also going with CA or AZ.
Someone said Sedona!! That’s what I think! Is it Sedona? That would be awesome. We’re in NM. You’d be a neighbor!
Thanks for the recipe. I’m for sure going to make that. Yum!
Thanks for all the great shows! I didn’t finish listening to the Doctor talk about the healthcare system. Too depressing!! I’m up to it in my eyeballs and it’s a sick system where we hand a person a prescription instead of counsel them on diet! Or exercise! Or getting more sunlight! Or a hundred other things. I’m sad for our patients who are getting sicker and sicker younger and younger.
Moving?
Well, if you’re smart you’ll follow my lead and move to Laguna Beach, California.
Sunsets so lovely they make your heart coo! Water so blue you think you’re in a technicolor movie. And dolphins too! Plus not too far from Au Lac and 118 degrees restaurants, what more could anyone want?
Where ever you live,
home is where you make it.
You guys are hilarious and cute!
This recipe looks so good
I’m gonna guess…California, New Mexico, or Oregon…wait maybe Washington.
Perhaps someplace regional???
One more thing,”Phase 1 diet”?
Is that Gabriel Cousins’ phase one?
Just curious.
I think you are either moving to South America where Mike Adams has a home, or you are moving to California because you always seem to be going there anyway. Either way, I think you are also moving to a bigger kitchen so you can do your kitchen segments more easily (and get away from that microwave).
Hi Kevin and Annmarie,
I know… you love the snow and you’re moving to Canada so you can go skiing more often.
Hi Kevin and Annmarie, its nice to see your show , i am on rawfood thince 5 years and i love Agave , Honey Yacoon, Stevia, dates,,, i love Pollen,, i Thank to the Bees for doing me this graet Job we have lots of boring Vegans over here in germany live is to have Love and Light and Joy issent that what it is all about? so Kevin dont get to serius stay silly and playfool ……com to Berlin and lets rawcanrawll thiss world
B,U,B,I,
How about moving to the Central Coast of California near Pismo Beach. We need more raw foodists here!
On the move, I’m sure wherever it is will be place(s) that inspire you but not too hard to get back home to CT when you want. Lol, Ok so just hope you aren’t leaving CT all together!
As to the recipe, thanks for posting because this one I’d like to try. Just had butternut raw for first time recently and I think it would be great for a savory soup!
I’m all for maple syrup, but mine is local and from the farm not store. As Kevin said I eat it only a few times a year so it’s not that big a deal. I could do much worse!!
You can move here to Naples, FL and do a talk to our raw foods monthly Meetup! Would love to have you and Anne Marie
Happy Birthday Kevin,
I’m also a Sagittarius, great minds think alike. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and a great year ahead.
Thanks for all the wonderful information you put out!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best regards, Vanessa
New to the show and love it! I hope you’re moving to Southern California and you both open a raw food restaurant! Maybe in Temecula, CA.!!!
I think it will be the same town David Rainoseck lives in. Can’t remember the name right now - P something in Arizona. Lovely place!
hola kevin!
super congrats on another turn around the sun. wishing you love, delight and contentment in this coming year and always. see you in january.
om,wendy

KEVINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 U!
Take Care,
Sincerely,
Stephen Alfred
Happy Birthday. I hope this birthday is by far the best! Thank you for your great work. I’ve learned soooo much. Your work is an invaluable resource!
All the best, Phyllis
I think Southern CA or around Tucson, AZ
Annmarie mentioned Cayenne, but it’s not in recipe–I’m guessing just a pinch?
Coriander shows in recipe, did I miss seeing her put it in?
Do you use cinnamon from Ceylon?
I have eaten raw, organic for 2 years and my recent blood work showed low thyroid. I haven’t been using anything except a little kelp or dulse that has iodine. Do you or any of your listeners know if there is a sea salt with iodine since I need more in my diet, but I don’t know if there’s anything else that I could be deficient in that would affect the thyroid?? Any raw nutritionists in the house?
Carole
Dear Kevin & AnnMarie, thank you for the health shaws. I also like the music you play after the shaw is finished, particularly the music by the wind instrument. It is joyfull and advertising for a joyfull shaw. Is it possible for you to send me by email the musical notes for the wind instrument part?. Thank you.
Hi Carole,
I did see a celtic sea salt with iodine at Whole Foods once. I don’t really know much about whether it is a good product or not though.
Bernadette
Austin Texas is the place to be Mr & Mrs. Gianni!! If you’re not moving here then come for a visit and experience some good ole southern hospitality!
I think that you guys might choose California.
there are so many Raw foodist living there.
So tell us already!
Thanks for the lovely recipe! please, keep them coming!

I am guessing like many others pointed out, you’re moving to a warmer place, could well be West Coast or Florida?
but then I heard you mentioning Argentina several times…in previous shows…mmmm.
If that’s the case you can practise Spanish with me, as I am Spanish! yay! well, this is…in the event you are not profficient in Spanish already, of course.
Annmarie you’re so sweet…my highlight of the video apart from the delicious recipe, and presentation, is Annmarie saying Kevin’s her butternut squash! so sweet! I love you Annmarie! xxxx
Perhaps Taos, for a climate of interest!!
I use a vegetable peeler to peel butternut squash - much less wastage! You just have to cut the squash into shapes/sizes that allow you to get the right angle so that it works with the peeler.
definitely out west.I live here because my family is all here.I lived out west for eight grand months.go for it.sun in abundance, fresh produce year round.follow your bliss.
I just got high speed on internet and just saw Annmarie in the film and thought she was a perfect match for you. Dont mean it to be a critism by the way. She was wonderful and I enjoyed the movie bit about the soup and will try it. Hope you move to a place you both love.
I believe you are moving to Cyprus(ha ha ha), next door to me - where you can come and harvest all the fruits and nuts (and wild nettles)from our garden!
It is 5.30am here and i am catching up on all of your ‘one show at a times’ and you are both just making me smile so much. What a marvellous way to start the day!
