There are many ways to heal, Christina chose macrobiotics…

Awesome interview for you today, guys…

This is a real story about cancer survival from health coach and chef Christina Pirello from Christina Cooks.

I love hearing success stories like this, so I’m pretty sure you will to.

They always seem to give me confidence in my own health journey — confidence that if anything does go wrong, there’s hope.

Check out Part 1 of my interview with Christina now (my comments follow in writing)…

My thoughts…

1. Great story.

Like I said at the beginning of this article, I think this is a great story. There’s really not much I can cover here that would be better than just listening, so if you’re reading this without listening, I strongly encourage you to hear the words come straight from Christina.

2. Everyone does it differently.

One thing that I’m 100% sure of is that different treatments work for different people. In this case, Christina used the macrobiotic diet. I’ve heard hundreds of other healing stories where people used water fasting or juicing or raw food or smoothies or the paleo diet.

What’s important to note is that it seems what is more important to your healing is what you leave out of your diet — not what you add in.

So for instance, it seems more important to remove processed sugar than to exchange or add in other new whole foods.

3. A secret to success?

Christina partially cited her youthful “ticked off” attitude as part of what helped her heal.

She was in denial and she was upset that after her mother just died that she would get cancer 6 months later. She blames being mad about the situation as a way to gather some strength — then have a positive, I’m-going-to-fight-this-no-matter-what attitude.

I tend to think that this also could have been a strong factor in her own survival.

More coming up tomorrow, so stay tuned!

If you want to learn more about Christina, you can visit her website here.

Your question of the day: What do you think is the most important key to healing?

Live Awesome!

He started seriously researching personal and preventative natural health therapies in 2002 when he was struck with the reality that cancer ran deep in his family and if he didn’t change the way he was living — he might go down that same path. Since then, he’s written and edited 6 books on the subject of natural health, diet and fitness. During this time, he’s constantly been humbled by what experts claim they know and what actually is true. This has led him to experiment with many diets and protocols — including vegan, raw food, fasting, medical treatments and more — to find out what is myth and what really works in the real world.

An amazing story and an inspiration to us all. My web site is out of date. I have learned SO MUCH more since putting it up. I have lots more to add…

  2. Rhonda says:

Loved this. Very inspiring. I once heard about a man in Pensacola, Fl who survived stage 5 tongue cancer by drinking (intravenously at first) a special blend of vitamins and fruit. He was eventually cured of it. I met his daughter who shared the recipe with me. Amazing.

  3. Sarah says:

It’s not surprising that she got cancer after her mother’s death. German New Medicine, founded by Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, is based on the theory that ALL cancers are a result of a recent emotional trauma, and are really the healing path for the body. He developed a method of treatment that resolved these issues and allowed the body to heal itself naturally. This proved wildly successful – much more than anything tried before, or since. Unfortunately, his success caused him to be persecuted in Germany, but there are others carrying on his work, on a smaller scale, around the world.

Another interesting story. Another anecdote as they would say, but the important part is that she is a live anecdote as she noted that she was now 50, 25 years later. We should hear more of these stories to realize many people are making changes for the better. Here are two more videos.

Meg Wolff had her leg cut off, then half her thyroid and then mastectomies. After 9 years on chemotherapy and radiation she embraced macrobiotics and now teaches others.

If the pictures are of Christina today, she is a great advertisement for her lifestyle. Keep it up Christine and you might outlive Kevin!

The most important key to healing; knowing when you give your body what it needs it will heal.

  9. Chris Wark says:

I love this. The world needs to know how many
natural survivors like us are out there.

    Kevin you’re definitely right.
Elimination of toxic inputs (diet, environment, relationships) is a critical component of cancer survival. Naturally they should be replaced with health promoting foods, habits and people.

The Will to Live and a Do Whatever It Takes attitude
    are also key.

    Thanks for sharing this!

To #3 Sarah: I had the great opportunity to attend a major cancer conference in London, England about 15 or so years ago. Many of the presenters were Americans who were there because they felt they could not say the things they wanted to say in this country. But at lunch time, when many peple had left for lunch outside the conference building, there were a couple of presenters who presented to the rest of us. One of these presenters was Dr. Hamer’s assistant who presented his work in his absence. He was not there because he was in jail in Germany. Those of us in the audience who heard this presentaiton, realized that we were witness to something incredible in terms of getting to the real root cause of cancer. He has thousands of brain scans that show that particular traumas lodge in paticular areas of the brain and from the location of the trauma in the brain, he could 100% accurately predict which type of cancer those people would come down with. Ever since then,, I have wondered f flower remedies and the lie not be the real medicine of the future, because if you can use a flower remedy on the emotional level to dislodge a trauma, could you not then prevent the later cancer from occurring? I have been ruminating on this for the past 15 years…

Kevin thank you for posting this awesome interview with Christina…I enjoy the fact that not everyone wants to be a raw foodist yet people eating a whole foods diet devoid of junk foods of all types can have incredible health and happiness…I enjoyed hearing from Christina that she eats a wide variety foods and not so rigid on one thing…Thanks again for sharing a really positive role model who acted on her own wisdom and took action to heal herself….If more people listened to their own voices we would be well on our way to a better world..

  12. Believing that you will and being grateful for that. Changing everything about my lifestyle…helps too!! Stage III Metastatic Breast Cancer Thriver – 4.5 years and counting – living with cancer for now.

  13. Toni says:

    Kevin,
Thanks for these great stories that give people hope.
I have been hearing quite a bit about a product called Apex Nano silver. It is put out by a non-profit organization and at the beginning they were actually giving it away till they ran out of money. It’s a great story and there are several testimonials of
how people were healed with this product.
    Here’s the web-site. http://apexuap.com/PROTOCOL.html
Would love to hear from readers what they think of this product. Our local holistic doctor recommends it to his patients, some have seen their tumors shrink in stubborn cases like brain cancer and lung cancer. I wonder if they can do clinical trials with this type of product.

  14. That’s amazing. Sometimes, hearing about survival stories like this makes me really stop and wonder if my mom could have made it if she tried it herself. Those years were really all but a blur for all of us.

  15. Great story… Surprising that we have another great story with the same name… ‘Christina’. She overcame ALL her health challenges very quickly with our program.

Below is the beginning and I would like to post her full story on a blog which I am working on.

We also have a ‘Revitalize’ conference coming up in Sept. Request our newsletter for all the exciting details with numerous guest speakers including ‘David Wolfe’ whom many know of.

If interested, I will send a link. Just reply to… LeadingEdgeHealth@shaw.ca

Here is the start of Christine’s story…

“My journey started when I was in the prime of my life -finishing many years of university, getting married and beginning my career. Suddenly my vision was blurry, I was seeing double, one eye went wall-eyed, I couldn’t see, if I opened my eyes I would fall over from the dizziness.

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Six months later, 4 1/2 months pregnant, and still reeling from my last diagnosis, I had another blow – thyroid cancer. Five months into my pregnancy with my son, I underwent major surgery to completely remove my thyroid. After a radiation treatment I found out the cancer spread to my lungs.
Six months later I had another radiation treatment which made me quite ill, and the results didn’t change, the tumors were still the same size.
To add salt to my wounds, a new obstacle appeared. I began taking an immune suppressant drug that alleged to help decrease the effects of MS. This had to be self injected into my legs, once a week at a cost of $20,000/year. It was only partially covered by Medicare. After one month of struggling with injecting myself and suffering with its side effects, I discovered the drug company would not allow me to take the drug if I had cancer. What a waste of time and money, and an unnecessary source of added stress.
At this point, I had enough poking and prodding. At 26, it was apparent something was clearly wrong with the chemistry of my body. I decided to take my health into my own hands! …” And she did and overcame all challenges.

  16. Donna says:

Thanks for posting this…it brought me back to the first time I had ever heard of Macrobiotics, or alternative healing. I read the book, “Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy” written by T. Dirk Benedict – the “pretty boy” of the original TV Series, The “A” Team. In 1975, Benedict was diagnosed with prostate cancer and adopted the macrobiotic diet for total healing. His book is his story of his life before getting cancer, the contributing factors and his journey of healing and self discovery.

  17. It was great to hear Christina’s story. I think you are right, Kevin, that everyone has their own unique path to healing. I used raw foods, and several other modalities.

Sarah & Sarah B, I think the emotional component (and stress) are incredibly important to look at with cancer (and other illness). I used EMDR as part of my own healing journey. I found an EFT practitioner in New Zealand who works with cancer patients via skype. Fascinating info, Sarah B. Thank you.

  18. Francine Maclure says:

I enjoyed Christina’s story – very impressive how she has outlived the predictions handed down by the oncologist for over 25 years! When I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2010, I received similar treatment by the establishment doctors and knew my future didn’t include chemo & radiation. One+ years later, no signs of cancer, after taking 40 alternative treatments (high dose VitC;hydrogen peroxide;Laetrile;Homeopathic remedies) and getting tested for my diet, which excludes dairy, brocolli, bananas, cranberries, and pineapple. I look forward to 25 years of good health – I’m 66 years old!

  19. John Hall says:

Great story of what to eat, to avoid, in her cancer recovery. I did similar and recovered completely from Melanoma over 3+ years. I was so excited I did a lot of research and discovered that CORRECT FOODS AND SUPPLEMENTS ARE THE ONLY ANSWERS TO CANCER, OR TO GOOD HEALTH OF ANY KIND.
My ignorant Oncologist was so arrogant he says he never studied Nutrition before or after med school. I felt like telling him he is not a scientist and certainly not a Holistic doc. Instead I asked him: “Why not, the chinese had been promoting healthy herbs for five thousand years.” He walked out of the room. He thought I’d be dead in 3 months because I had 26 tumors on PET scan.
So I wrote a book BEATING CANCER CAN BE FUN Cancer Fighting Strategies for first time diagnosed cancer patients) on e book, amszon, and Barnes and Noble,NOOK. My story and the corruption of Pharma, doctors, and the narrow minded Allopathic profession who love to see folks suffer with cancer and then die.
Kevin can interview me anytime he wants.
    Congrats to you!!

  20. Dee says:

Great interview, very inspiring. I tried the macrobiotic diet years ago, not a good fit for me.

  21. Velda says:

Great interview, Kevin. One thing that a couple of people talked about was that Christine probably got cancer because of the death of her mother. I heard her say that the doctors told her she had lukemia for a very long time. I don’t think it was caused from her mother’s death. I do believe that emotional trauma can be part of people getting cancer. However, almost everyone has trauma in their lives at one time or another, but not all people that experience trauma get cancer. Interesting comments and material from your readers, Kevin. Thank you very much!!

  22. am interested in getting in touch with Stephanie Amada re: the lady in New Zealand

  23. Liz H. says:

I love the real-life stories, too! I remember when that is most of what Prevention magazine was. Now it’s just ads for & articles promoting big pharma. So sad!

  24. amy h. says:

what ever happened to part 2 of this interview?
