A New Renegade Health

I can’t tell you how excited I am to post this…

We finally have a fantastic new Renegade Health site.

We’ve been working on this site since June 2011. There were a lot of things out of our control that delayed the launch of this new design — but all things considered — I think it was worth the wait.

We were going to launch a completely different design in June 2012, but I totally halted the process. The new site didn’t address the issues that were wrong with the old site.

So we went back with only one thing in mind…

“How can we make this site easy for your to visit, navigate, search and enjoy?”

I think we came up with something pretty substantial, so let me give you a quick tour of what is new and improved…

Clean, Easy-to-Look-at Design

As you can see from the first image above — and just being here on the site — that it looks much cleaner and more organized.

I loved the cartoon image of Annmarie and I just as much as you did, but in this new site, we wanted the content to be king. So now you’ll find the articles easy to read, access, like and discuss.

A Google Powered Search

Now when you search “How to Sprout” you’ll actually get real, accurate search results.

This will allow you to search the site with ease, particularly if you’re coming here with an existing need.

Better Organization, Better Navigation

We’ve added a better, easier to use navigation bar at the top of the site. The most exciting feature here is the “Topics” tab, where you’ll find dozens of health topics where you can click and read every post we’ve done on the subject.

Re-categorizing almost 2000 posts has been quite a process and we’re about 75% done, so please note that the number of posts in these categories will grow in the next few days.

Easy to Like, Comment and Browse by Category

We’ve made it seriously easy to comment, search and browse by category.

You can like a post on Facebook by just clicking the “Like” button. You can click on the Comments button and be taken directly to the comment area. You can click on the category and be taken to a full collection of articles in the same theme. Finally, to be fully functional by next week, you’ll be able to click on the author’s name and access all their articles. (Right now, this functionality is limited.)

Comment in Threads

Now you can reply to another person’s comment and it will appear right below it.

This functionality allows you to directly assist, ask for clarification, or refute someone’s post.

New, More Exciting About Us Page

Yes, I asked for your questions. And, yes, we answered a bunch of them!

You can find this new, updated page here and learn much more about us than you ever knew before.

I dig this page, because it gives us the opportunity for you to get to know us on a more intimate level.

New Coaching Club Coming Soon

We just have a few more details to program before we totally revamp our Inner Circle program — which will become the Renegade Health Coaching Club.

When this is launched, you’ll be able to ask us questions and hang out on our weekly Coaching Call.

Because the Healing Cancer World Summit is launching in October 2012, I expect this to be ready in late November.

Known Issues?

To date, we’ve identified some known issues that you may encounter.

These are:

  • All posts are attributed to me! We’ll get that fixed by next week.
  • All posts are not fully categorized. We’ll have this finished by next week as well.
  • There are some double posts. As we identify them, we’re removing them!
  • The site may be a little slower for you. In the next few days we’ll be running some tests to optimize the load speed.
  • A fully functional mobile site will be shortly after this.

When Are You Remodeling the Renegade Health Store?

If you head on over to the Renegade Health Store, you’ll see the older design (there’s an image above in case you needed a reference to where we were and where we are now.)

Our plan is to remodel the store in early 2013. This includes an upgrade in our shopping cart systems, negotiating better shipping rates and improving the navigation and general appearance.

I Think That’s It…

So now, I encourage you to knock around the site and let us know what you think. Also if you find any issues, please post them here in the comments. Be sure to note the browser you’re using and the version. (Example: When I click on the Articles page, my computer starts smoking. I’m using a Prodigy browser on an Apple IIe.)

Your question of the day: What do you think? Anything you see that is broken? Not working?

Live Awesome!

Kevin Gianni

Kevin Gianni is a health author, activist and blogger. He started seriously researching personal and preventative natural health therapies in 2002 when he was struck with the reality that cancer ran deep in his family and if he didn’t change the way he was living — he might go down that same path. Since then, he’s written and edited 6 books on the subject of natural health, diet and fitness. During this time, he’s constantly been humbled by what experts claim they know and what actually is true. This has led him to experiment with many diets and protocols — including vegan, raw food, fasting, medical treatments and more — to find out what is myth and what really works in the real world.

Kevin has also traveled around the world searching for the best protocols, foods, medicines and clinics around and bringing them to the readers of his blog RenegadeHealth.com — which is one of the most widely read natural health blogs in the world with hundreds of thousands of visitors a month from over 150 countries around the world.

To give my full disclosure, I have only fully “digested” this page and your About page, but based on your information contained here and there, you have every reason to be very proud. Oh, and the same sentiment applies to your website, too!

Gee, maybe I need to explain that paragraph to the readers who are not aware of Hudson! There, are you all with me now?

  12. Chris says:

Kevin and Annmarie, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all your hard work on this website. I have a very dear friend who is suffering terribly from Lyme disease. I knew I had seen some of the information you put out years ago before I had this urgent need, but I could never find it before. Today, within about 10 seconds, at least five very useful articles and videos popped up. I am able to give my friend your recommendations for helpful books to buy, and I even found a picture of your tick bite! This is great. Keep up the good work.

    • Kevin Gianni Kevin Gianni says:

This is EXACTLY what we want to hear. (And one of the reasons why we revised the site!) 🙂

    • Jacky says:

I need this lymes disease info right away 85 yr old friend, very ill, has tried all kinds of natural healing without success, he is a knowledgable herbalist with a business. Maybe you have something that can help him.

  13. suzanne says:

Cool, Kevin. Excited to spend time perusing on a daily basis. Looks terrific! Appreciate your work and diligence in accomplishing this task. How about a family picture, please…baby hard to take my eyes off of.

  14. Jason in SH says:

    Congrats, Kevin–what a huge endeavor!

I clicked on the comments button to the right of the title, and it didn’t do anything; is it supposed to take me straight down to the comments section?

I’m on a standard red Texas Instruments Speak’n Spell.
It does the same on my iPad 3, Safari browser ios5

    Keep rockin’ it!

    • Kevin Gianni Kevin Gianni says:

Speak’n Spell… nice one! LOL! I have a feeling you’re probably having trouble with the .jpg, .gif, and .html formats as well.

Good catch on the comments. We’ll adjust it by Monday!

  15. Elizabeth says:

LOVE your new website………..very user friendly……..looking forward to your “store” update. When possible, would love to see more info on Adrenal Health. Also, Annamarie once did a video of her showing how to make face cream……..couldn’t find that video……..do you still have it?
    Thanks for all you do.

  16. MARY says:

Fantastic! Congratulations and thank you! Love and blessings to you all and Little Bebe Star…xx

  17. Pamela says:

After all the great upgrades you made, I hate to be asking for more BUT wonder if you can post the NEWEST comments FIRST (like most websites do)? That would be fabulous!

    • Kevin Gianni Kevin Gianni says:

      Hey Pamela!

      Thanks for the suggestion!

Since we keep comments open for a while, what happens is that some of the most recent posts can be fairly irrelevant to the discussion. I prefer the threads this way so you can see the conversation unfolding instead of backtracking — or worse disintegrating! 🙂

  18. Just breath, just live and dont eat dead food….ha ha

  19. Maria says:

As a student of website design, and the designer of a couple of sites, I can really appreciate all the work either you or your webmaster have gone through to get your new site up and running. As a user, I appreciate all the information you’ve made available at our fingertips! I love the awesome “topics” drop down menu!! I am looking forward to extensively exploring your site and fully expect to find things I was not able to locate before!

    • Kevin Gianni Kevin Gianni says:

Thanks Maria! You should have seen the difference between the version before this one and the one you see now.

Ultimately, we focused on you — the reader.

Everything that we did was based on what we thought the reader would want to know or find. And then we only included functions that the reader might be willing to use. 🙂

It was a serious lesson in simplicity.

  20. I love the look of your new site! I couldn’t access any
Of the links (cauliflower recipe) via my iPhone as I usually can but I will try
To do so on my Mac desktop.

    I enjoy and appreciate read

  21. Kym says:

Excellent job! I’m currently trying to load stuff onto my own site so I can understand what a massive amount of pondering, coding, testing and general sweat and toil this all required. It seems like just yesterday you first got RH up and now look at it. 🙂

  22. Medoh says:

These are really great improvements! I can’t imagine what had to go into doing (and continue to do) all this. Congratulations!
I have only one little critique at this point. The band of “Trusted Renegade Health Products” in full color for me is like advertisements and is distracting as you come to each page. It looks to commercial especially for its location and I know you are a lot more than commerciality. I suggest if you want them prominent in that location to have the boxes more uniform with the key words most prominent in each to catch the eye, or a series of buttons, or another drop-down menu of them in the green navigation bar.
Blessings to you three and all your new beginnings!

    • Kevin Gianni Kevin Gianni says:

Medoh, we got your attention right? LOL 🙂

We’ll be experimenting with different ad placements and formats as time goes on, so stay tuned.

Please keep in mind, we’re 110% self funded and all ads we post (as of now) are of products we’ve produced. 🙂

      Thanks for the feedback!

    • This may be quite ironic, coming from me (you know, an attention-seeking, arguably “histrionic” personality), but I think that I largely agree with Medoh on the characteristics and placement of your links/advertisements. Likely, I have less of an aversion to advertising and commerciality “per se” than Medoh, but sometimes a new approach may be more consistent with one’s image, and “work better” in the long-term, if not immediately.

Specifically, while I have no objections to the use of ad images in today’s world, the status quo “requirement” in online marketing to always use “calls to action” messages, just seems so 200X to me. This may just be one of my own idiosyncratic pet-peeves, but isn’t it obvious to the vast majority of website visitors that they need to click on a link in order to find out more about something? Perhaps this is not an issue at all with a small number of links, but when there are many of them…

Kevin, this kind of evaluation is what you asked for, isn’t it?

In any case, ROCK ON, SUPERSTARS!!!

      Warren Freedlund

  23. Jared says:

I like it a lot. Very easy to find what you are looking for when searching for specific type’s of articles. It looks really good too.

  24. Jacky says:

I am an old lady, used to the way IT WAS, so it will take a while for me to be comfortable with this, even though it is supposed to be better, in the meantime, I will keep my comments to myself, and see if myself can adjust to something new again. Best to you and the family, keep on keeping on. You are doing a good work. Jacky

  25. jenni says:

Awesome! I have tried looking up topics before and couldn’t find what I was searching for. So I’m excited about this! Just looked something up and found it! Yay

  26. THATS IT NOW this site IS easy to visit, navigate, search and enjoy.

  27. Susan says:

Please eliminate articles that no longer exist. It is a time waster. The Kale Whale was not helpful. I put in Three Delicious Smoothie Recipes for Something New in the Morning… : Exclusive Renegade Health Article in your search box and it came back as no longer existing. I did click on one link – the recipes were there but it was unreadable. Please just ditch them. Thank you.

  28. Donna says:

I just love your new look and it is so much easier to find things now. I also noticed that the pages download much faster than before. Keep up the great work in posting articles, recipes and videos which are so informative. Also enjoy the courses and interviews you had about cancer. Thank you for making our lives less complicated.

Congratulations on the newest member of your family who is so adorable.

  29. Raymonde says:

Wow this new look is very unique I love it
and what a nice bunddle of joy is that baby.
