Making this raw vegan ice cream will blow your mind.

First of all, it’s so easy, you can make it in just a few minutes.

You only need a minimum of two ingredients, but you could add more for fun, and it’s a thousand times healthier than regular ice cream!

The Ingredients

You will need:

  • frozen bananas
  • almond milk
  • vanilla (optional)
  • maple syrup (optional)

The best way to freeze bananas is to peel them first, and place them in a Ziploc bag overnight in the freezer.

(I have known too many people who have thrown entire bananas in the freezer and then realized that it was impossible to peel them once they’re frozen!)

Wait until they are spotted to freeze them and also use them within two weeks.

The Method

The best way to make ice cream with frozen bananas is with the Vita Mix blender.

I used to make it with the Champion juicer with an attachment, but I prefer the Vita-Mix method now.

If your Vita Mix has multiple speeds, it will work best.

  • Chop the bananas in small pieces
  • Add a tiny bit of almond milk.
  • Blend a low speed. This is important. If you start blending it at a higher speed it will ruin the texture.

Add as much almond milk as you need for texture. You’ll need at least three or four bananas to have enough material to make your ice cream. You can add a little bit of vanilla extract or an entire piece of vanilla for flavor, and if you like it sweeter you can add maple syrup on top before serving. Enjoy!

Nice recipe Fred… but… what about an ice cream recipe without so much sugar ? One that would be suitable for type 2 Diabetics… using Stevia ? Thanks…

    • Luis Medrano says:

Bananas are a great food for type 2 diabetics, given that your overall fat intake is low. In this case, just remove the maple syrup. The ice cream with just bananas, almond milk, and vanilla is really delicious! No added sugars just the natural occurring sugars in the bananas. YUM!

Tried it, we loved it, worked perfectly, very fast to make! I had made banana ice cream before with a juicer. It was really good also, but this is faster, much easier, and permits the easy addition of other ingredients. Very nice, a true crowd pleaser!
