Your Action Has Never Been More Important…

On November 6th, 2012, our right to know what exactly is in our food could completely disappear.

This isn’t hyperbole.

Here in California there’s a battle being waged by big food and pesticide companies and the little guys — you and I, who just want real, good and natural food. (This is relevant to you even if you live in Bora Bora, so please read on…)

The fight is over Proposition 37. A measure that, if it passes, will require food companies to label foods that contain GMO ingredients.

What this means to you — whether you’re in California or not?

  • It’s a huge blow to bio-technology that is backed by shaky science. Particularly since over 60 countries worldwide have instituted GMO labeling requirements.
  • It would likely ripple through all 49 other states, since if the food companies have to label for California, they’ll probably just label all their products.
  • It protects our environment from the potential of even more GMO crops.
  • It keeps technology out of messing with the DNA of anything. It lets natural be natural.
  • It may even protect your family members, who probably aren’t as healthy as you are — since they’ll wonder what GMO is when they see the label on a box of Frosted Corny Butt Puffs.
  • But here’s the thing…

Yes on 37 is not winning according to the LA Times

A new poll by the California Business Roundtable and the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy showed 39.1% of likely voters support the measure, while 50.5% oppose the labeling requirement.

    This is embarrassing.

In less than 7 days, we could be faced with the fact that GMO foods may never have to be labeled in the United States. (If it doesn’t pass in California — good luck to the other 49.)

    Imagine what precedent this sets.

If food companies don’t have to say if their food is unnaturally modified, what else can (and do) they get away with?

I’m not going to answer that question, there’s no time to fuss.

If you want to know what food you’re eating and essentially want to stop the production of genetically modified foods in the U.S. you must take action now.

The California Right to Know campaign must raise enough money to run the ad below to counter the false and misleading ads that the food companies have raised over $40 million dollars to run — and protect their bio-tech investments.

    Here’s the ad:

I think it’s a good one. (Only thing missing is a white coated doctor — this screams credibility, LOL!)

It’s scary that just a few deceptive ads from the opposition can mislead enough Californians to bring the polling from an initial result of 2 to 1 in favor of 37 to what it is now.

    But there’s still time.

    This campaign needs your help.

We need you to help by donating if you care about what you’re eating. If you care about the environment. If you care about the health of future generations. If you don’t like being lied to.

Every penny will go toward running the ad above and to counter the deceptive No on 37 ads that the big industry leaders are using to deceive and scare consumers.

I know this is an emotional plea, but this is important to me and my brand new family. I don’t want my son to possibly have his health affected by cross contaminated GMO crops that are able to grow freely and unregulated because a measure like this failed.

Annmarie and I have already donated money to local efforts here, but we’re also donating and additional $2000 tomorrow to help. You don’t have to donate that much. You can donate $1.

It all counts. But, we do need you to donate.

Now’s the time for the little guy to rise up.

Are you up to the task?

To donate now, please visit the CA Right to Know website here:

Here are some of the deceiving ads that Californians are being bombarded with…

    Pay the Doctors…

Scare the Consumer with Fake Food Cost Increases…

Pull on the Blue Collar Heartstrings…

    Get a Fake Expert…

Thanks in advance for your swift action! We love you!

    Live Awesome!

      Hi Kevin,

This impacts everyone worldwide in my opinion – not just California. It is setting a precedent and I would rather that be that we KNOW what we are eating. The best thing to do though, of course, is grow your own like we do and shop locally for fresh, organic foods.

I hate going to a supermarket where everything looks so ‘shiny and perfect’. Tomatoes all lined up on little vines in little packs with little nutrition. If they look too perfect then I won’t go near them. My kids don’t even mind seeing a hole in the apple from where a bug has had a taste.

I say NO TO GMO. We have a right to know so labeling is the GO!

      Stay well, Eileen.

i think a rebuttal campaign is important, however, i see the commercial on behalf of our side/pro 37, as pretty weak…and with just as much ‘sounds creepy’ with the tone of the woman’s voice… we need to be bold and just speak the truth.. ‘hey, you’re being manipulated with these ads and here’s the real truth etc. etc…’
      no fear

    3. Please get informed here and spread the message! As with GMO, this concerns all of us no matter where we live. Dear Kevin, thank you for your initiative again … A healthy planet and a healthy body are our birth right and that of our children… and all creatures. Knowing what is in our food means knowing what building blocks we offer our body.

    4. Maia Alpern says:

You are so right about just how important this issue is Kevin. The rest of the nation will follow California’s lead on this issue.

I attended a recent march to deliver over 200,000 signatures asking President Obama to honor his pledge to help with GMO labeling during his campaign and was so dismayed at how few people came out to support this action. Thank you for your efforts to spread the awareness to help fight the big money in opposition to Prop 37.

Hi kevin, I live in Australia, and at the monent we have laws on labeling GMO foods and not to much is growen here yet. As per we are a little behind US with a lot of things and in some cases it is a blessing. I sincerely hope you all vote to have the labling happen because we all deserve to know what we a feeding our bodies and for maintence. If you guys let this go it is likely our government will go the same way.
Love and all the best for the future.
      Dee

    6. Thanks, Kevin for sending this out. It’s such an important issue.

Personally I am blown away that people don’t seem to be suspicious that companies like Monsanto and friends would spend such large sums of money out of the goodness of their hearts simply to tell them that this regulation would increase the cost of their food. It’s inconceivable to me that anyone could possibly believe that.

Please, please, please, follow the money, donate to this worthy cause, Vote YES on Prop 37 if you live in California and spread the word! Let’s all stand together and get this done! We can do it!

    7. we have a right to choose what we eat and know if it is GMO or not. Period.

    8. Though I live on a relatively fixed and small income I will donate what I can (at least $25) which is a lot for me as I usually contribute in ways other than financial. This is important! I encourage everyone who reads this to donate what they can and spread this around to others as much as possible! This a narrow and mega important window of opportunity the likes of which will almost certainly not be available again. If we do not act as quickly as possible the genetic diversity and opportunity to eat healthy and chemically untampered-with foods in the United States could go away forever. Please choose to act on this issue in time to support this ad in support of the passage of measure 37!

    9. Please say no to GMO…I have a child with autism with such complicated health issues I need to know exactly what goes into his body. Not only that..I want to know what goes into my body too! Information should be shared not kept secret..we have a right to know!

    10. Velda says:

It is incredible how the opposition to 37 can say whatever they want – lies, lies lies – and not only are they not held accountable for that, people believe them as well. I am going to do some phone banking on Sunday.

I am so disheartened by this. I know a guy that does GMO farming and he is completely 100% in favor of it. He says there has never been any proof that it is harmful. I have tried to explain to him that there is proof – and not only that Monsanto should have to prove it is safe before we become thier guinie pigs. Also have explained to him many times that this proposition is not arguing whether or not it is safe, just that we have a right to know. However, with all the negative campaigning, that basic understanding escapes him – and most others. Even some local Tea Parties are recommending no on 37, because they are afraid it will bring too much governmental control. The fact is, food manufacturers already have to label what is in their food, and when they change the ingredients, they change the label. This should be no different. I am not sure why GMO does not come under that regulation, but this is very frightening and discusting that the “big boys” can lie as much as they want and not be held accountable.

Thank you, Kevin, for staying with the fight.

    11. Jan says:

I completely agree and tried to donate but couldn’t because I’m not a US resident. I’m really concerned about the same thing happening in Canada so am watching this closely. I hope the ad gets a HUGE response.

    12. Anna says:

With all the millions the No on 37 evil companies raised, they should have saved it and saved a fight and used it to fund the EXPENSIVE labeling of the GMO”S. LOL . Doesn’t make any common sense!

    13. If anyone in this day and age has bought in to one of the biggest misconceptions of the planet, which is the saying “What you don’t know won’t hurt you” is simply fooling themselves. The reason why a legislation was passed in the 1970’s,The Freedom of Information Act, was because of the Evil and Manipulative nature of government. Government gets influenced by Big Business through lobbying efforts especially here in Washington, DC so that laws are put into place giving these businesses essentially incredible immunity from the
release of toxins in our air, water and food supply. These so-called doctors are not in the business of curing anything, I know because I have physicians in my family as well as my own involvement in my father’s practice. There position is to try and manage disease/illness in their patients and not cure anything by having there patients constantly come back for followup visits to their offices. Big money is involved in keeping these patients on this cycle and let’s not forget about the Huge influence the Big pharmaceutical companies have on the doctors “Expert Opinions”. It’s all a sham and anyone who would dispute me on this just needs to reference the Tuskegee Experiments done on poor African-American people from 1932-1972, where these folks were injected with syphilis in this clinical study, while the people were actually thinking that they were getting free health care that they normally could not afford. Keep in mind that penicillin was available by 1947 as a standard treatment for syphilis. What did the Public Health Service Department do about this new found treatment as it applied to this study? interestingly, the Public Health officials in Tuskegee, Alabama prevented their participants from accessing syphilis treatment programs as well as information on the true nature of these experiments. The only reason why this clinical study was terminated was due to a leak in the Pres! You see, this is just on of many cases where “What you don’t know can get you Killed!”. You have to read and research yourself on everything related to you and others, because some of those others are quite malevolent in their activities. The days of secrecy as it applies to government in conjunction with large corporations must come to an end or all of us not privy to being part of the elite class might face extermination in this time or in future generations. This was one of the main points JFK was making about in a speech as President of the United States back in 1963, right before he was assassinated!!! Please google Eugenic programs in the early to mid parts of the last century in this country and you will start to connect the dots that exist even as it applies to the Monsato Corp. Free your mind and your ass will follow is the proper creed to live by!!!!!!!

      • Mary says:

Excellent post Robert…..everything you wrote is true and something people should pay attention to. Sadly many people have tunnel vision and don’t see the big picture.

    14. Mary says:

I am amazed at how many people just don’t get it. I have been talking to friends about this as well as the poisons in medicines and vaccines, because I believe there is a sinister force that is trying to change human dna, making people sick and dying prematurely, thus they will use many angles to do it. People need to ask themselves WHY is Monsanto creating genetically altered seeds? They certainly aren’t increasing crop yields or improving the quality…..in fact, just the opposite. So there has to be a secret agenda as to why they are doing it. Most people say the reason is to have a monopoly on the food supply by owning all the seed patents across the world, but if the seeds they produce are not any good, or are ultimately self destructive, then nobody wins…..them included. I am convinced Monsanto thugs and their families and accomplices aren’t eating genetically modified food, they probably have their own stash of organic seeds and organic food.
Remember, these chemical giants and pharmaceutical companies are not what they present themselves as. Bayer Co. was the company during WWII under the name of I.G.Farben who manufactured the poisonous gas that killed all those millions of Jews in the concentration camps. By the time they came to the United States from Germany, the name had been changed to Bayer. Who would have ever thought that the company making good old Bayer Aspirin was such an evil giant. So don’t let them fool you, they are evil to the core in my opinion.

    15. feralkevin says:

Horrible indeed, and if anyone knows anything about this issue at all, they know that GMO”s should be banned all together. We say it’s embarrassing to not even get them labeled — yes, but I would say even more embarrassing is that we think our votes actually count!

    16. MARK says:

What I find most disturbing is the complete lack of media coverage on the GMO labeling issue. Nothing on local TV news or in local papers. I have to assume that these media outlets have been coerced by their advertisers to not cover this issue. If proposition 37 is defeated, I think there should be a nationwide boycott of all products manufactured and distributed by the corporations that spent 40 million on deceptive ads.

It will be a very sad day for me if proposition 37 fails as this the most important issue that I have ever been concerned with. I will remain optimistic and will rally for a YES vote.

    17. I am greatly disappointed that the “Yes on 37” ad is so terrible that it may cost us the election. Why don’t the “Yes on 37” ads have any farmers, doctors, professionals, etc. on it to present some facts and to combat the “No on 37” lies? The ad is so weak that it turns me off. I was told today at a “Yes on 37” event that the focus group did not like the aggressive ads. To hell with the focus group. You need to fight fire with fire in my opinion. I feel that the decision to use such a weak ad with no facts may turn out to be a major strategic blunder, but I hope not. Is there any chance of using a hard-hitting ad in the last few days?

    18. I was going to donate to the campaign but then saw that it is exclusively for permanent residents in the US. That really sucks!! Even though I am a resident of a another continent Proposition 37 and what goes on in the US as regards GMOs is absolutely of my business.

      Good luck 🙂

    19. Really glad that you are spreading prop 37 and helping consumers become more aware! thank you for doing this. They say that the other states follow California so I believe this is pivotal.

      Keep up the great work!

      David

My heart sinks to hear that so many Americans are just not getting it and that such deceptive advertising is put out. What kind of ‘democracies’ do we have when they ask us to vote but do not promote a full and open discussion. It is a sad fact that we do not teach our young people true thinking and debating skills – without this propaganda will always be powerful.

I am praying for the right outcome on Monday from the other side of the water in the UK.
