Does the Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse Work? : Exclusive Renegade Health Interview

hacienda del sol liver flush
Annmarie did her first liver flush in beautiful Costa Rica at Hacienda Del Sol…

Last weekend, I had an amazing 60 minute interview with health author Andreas Moritz.

The first half we focused on cleansing for the liver and gallbladder, and the second half we talked cancer.

In Part 1 of my interview, Andreas Moritz will share how to cleanse the liver and gallbladder in a non-intrusive, inexpensive way.

He’s written an entire book on the subject, but here’s a great 30 minute primer on what to do, how to do it and why you want to cleanse these important parts of your body at least 1-2 times a year (maybe more if you never have!)

Here’s Part 1 of the interview:

My notes on this interview with Andreas Moritz:

I don’t have much here in terms of notes. I think this interview is one that is better listened to than summarized.

Personally, the liver and gallbladder cleanse is one that I did not want to do for a while due to the fact that my cholesterol was low.

I didn’t want to overstimulate my body and release too much cholesterol and bile, which in turn would have left me (possibly) further deficient.

Anyway, now that my levels are back up, I was convinced by this interview to do the cleanse myself for the first time. (Annmarie has done it, I have not.)

I’ll be writing about this experience on Wednesday (which I did last Thursday / Friday), which you’ll be able to read and get my insight into the process.

The reason why I decided to do the cleanse is because I have always had this thought in the back of my head that my liver may still be congested due to the excessive use of alcohol and drugs that I experienced in high school and college.

My logical mind says that these issues have already been healed in the 10 years that have passed, but I don’t like to leave these things to chance.

With that said, I decided to do at least one cleanse to determine if there are a lot of “stones” and then go from there.

I’m also wondering if a liver cleanse can change the condition of my skin as well.

While my skin has dramatically improved over the past 3 years, my hope is that a liver cleanse will help to make it ever better.

Again, these are only ideas that I have.

I will be explaining what happened to me and if I’ll do the liver and gallbladder cleanse again!

I want to know your thoughts: Have you done a liver and gallbladder cleanse before? I want to know what happened to you…

Live Awesome!

I’ve done three different ones. The first one was for five days and was yucky. The second one was for three days and was very productive. The last one was for two days and I liked it best, although the three-day one worked best. I’ve been wanting to do another one too. I think this will push me to do it. Thanks Kevin!

  2. 1.Have some good mint tea ready and waiting! (I drink traditional medicinals ‘tummy tea’)

    2. Do a mild olive oil with no ‘pepper-y’ taste.. For me, it got kinda harder to down because of the pepper-y feeling in the back of the throat..

Overall I didn’t have a hard time downing the olive oil and lemon juice.. The lemon juice tasted weird and salty… And after one day of no fats I LOVED the first rounds of olive oil… Which brings me to my 3rd tip..

    3. If at the very very end you can’t finish all of it… Don’t.. It’s better to not make yourself ill in the beginning..

I had no problems at all with any ill feelings in the beginning (other then not being able to finish it all) but at 1am I woke up feeling like I was going to puke… I NEVER PUKE.. I have a strong stomach.. And i started sweating like crazy.. And was mildly delirious.. I didn’t end up puking, but what ended up settling my stomach and letting me sleep again was MINT TEA! Totally saved me from feeling completely horrible, miserable and wanting to puke… I would reccomend having some ready and waiting..

I then woke up again at 6am.. My gut wasn’t happy at all.. If your gut isn’t a perfect happy worker.. I’d say to do an enema or high enema.. Or if u have one, a colema board.. After that I was able to go from totally ill feeling again, to just a little tired and weak.

Went back to sleep.. Can’t remember what time I woke up.. Then the formed oil stools came.. (whoever said u can’t form a stool without fiber, is crazy! What fiber does olive oil have?) With a few gall stones.. Had that a few times. (it’s totally obvious what is the oil and what is the gall stone, the stones float and mine were bright green).. I was then tired most of the day.. Next day I was back to normal

Before my cleanse I was doing the Chinese bitters/curcuma/coptis protocol that the lady at sensible health talks about I got the products from:

After effects was my digestion got better..and my skin was clearer with a better texture. But it took a couple weeks for me to notice.

    hope that helps. 🙂

  3. mamta nanda says:

I have done five liver flushes based on Andreas’ method & feel much better within myself. At the moment I am doing his recommended kidney cleanse.

Andreas’ teachings really resonate with me so I was drawn to his method. The flush has been fine – I would suggest following his instructions really thoroughly though.

  4. lana says:

my natura path says no to that, especially if you do not have a cannot handle the oil…

  5. Sue says:

Yes, I have followed Andreas Moritz’s flush. I did 10 flushes last year and passed 100’s of stones each time. I’m sure I passed well over 1,000 stones total. It has made an enormous difference in my health, and I feel more at peace. I used to get angry very quickly, and now little things don’t bother me like they used to. Also, my skin stays clear. I’m actually getting ready to do a follow-up flush this week. I did one a month ago after almost 11 months, and sure enough, I passed 100’s more stones. This works–it was amazing!

  6. I too have done a good course of Andreas inspired flushes. Now, as a functional nutritionist I teach a guided (virtual) liver cleanse with eduction about the liver, the emotions associated with the liver, a week full of delicious recipes, a simple protocol to follow and an online support network throughout the week. Rejuvenate: A Spring Cleanse is part of the TrulyFood seasonal cleansing series. And as you know, spring is the time for the liver!

While many cleanses can seem daunting for people with busy lives, these will rock your world with information, support, delicious food and accessibility. We’re super excited about how the TrulyFood Cleanses have been gaining momentum. Check them out! And thank you Andreas and Kevin!

  7. debbie says:

I too will start the liver cleanign process but have one question. I am a raw vegan and have had my gall bladder taken out many years ago……..although I feel like I am in great health, do you recommend a liver/gb cleanse even if the gb is out?
I would appreciate your comment on this.
I have not seen a doctor in years……… need to.

  8. Tammie says:

My husband and I have both done many cleanses, following Andreas Moritz’ method and have both passed thousands of stones, some as large as quarters, but painless….follow the directions carefully. This is a great cleanse and because anger is the emotion that is housed in the liver AND gallbladder, you feel very uplifted and serene after a cleanse, as you are also releasing the anger that is contained within the stones. Your body does let you know when you need another cleanse, just by the angst that you may start feeling as anger rears it’s ugly head, if I may borrow the phrase. I highly recommend Andres’ book and method to cleanse the liver and gallbladder. We’ve had relatives do the cleanse, too, that were having gallbladder attacks and have avoided surgery by removing the stones from the organ naturally!! YEAH!!

  9. Kuru says:

I have done 4 flushes over the years, all with great success, feeling amazingly lighter after, clearer brain, x-ray vision, high aspirations. I usually get 100+ stones. I’ve never done them in close succession but am inspired to do another after one last month. A friend did them monthly for 14 months before he came clean, similar to Andreas. Thanks for having this talk; Andreas is a strong beacon for health.

  10. Tristan says:

I did the liver/gallbladder cleanse as outlined by David Jubb when I was 24. I let out at least 100 neon green/yellow stones. Most the size of a pebble, and a few the size of a cherry! Yikes. Its been 6 years now since I did that. Definitely time to do it again. Thanks for the reminder! I did notice that my digestion of fats seemed to improve after the flush.

  11. Allison says:

I have done Andreas’ cleanse three times with great success. It really is relatively easy, with a lot of results. Seeing this post has inspired me to do another few rounds. (Its been almost a year since the last time I did it.) I was 30 the first time I did the cleanses and by the third time, had very few stones. It will be interesting to see how much I’ve accumulated in the past year. I felt great after doing them last time, and would expect the same this time around. Thanks for the interview! 🙂

  12. Ulla Devine says:

I did a few Livercleanses 8 years ago (Hulda Clark’s) with mixed results but got tremendous benefits when using Andreas Moritz’s protocol. Over a period of 18 month I did 13 cleanses and released several hundred stones of varying sizes each time. During the 8th cleanse there were stones over 1.5 cm large. After each cleanse I felt my energy and overall health increasing tenfold, with many symtoms (skin, candida, lowered immunity among others)
It is very important to clean your colon first before attempting to clean your organs. I also strongly recommend to follow Andrea’s advise to have a Colon Hydrotherapy treatment before and after doing the oil drink so that the very toxic output can be discharged without getting caught in the colon.
This is information everybody needs to have particulary in this day and age of degenerative diseases among all ages. Thank you, Kevin for looking into this.

  13. Kuru says:

Please tell me why the posts change places? I come back to read where I left off (after mine if I’ve posted) and everything is rearranged. Number 4 has become number 8, sometimes even farther down. More time is wasted trying to read what I haven’t read, and sometimes I just give up. What’s up?

  14. James says:

I’ve got a whole new appreciation for the liver.

  15. Davina Youngberg says:

I did a gallbladder cleanse, 3 times. I got at least a thousand stones out of me.

  16. Kelly says:

I had my gall bladder removed very reluctantly 7 months ago. I left it for over a year eating a totally vegan roughly 80% raw 20% cooked food diet. I lost 37lbs and hadn’t had attacks for a while. Then I started having attacks again and had an ultrasound which showed multiple stones and some more than an inch in diameter. This discouraged me from doing a cleanse because I did not want a large stone getting caught in the ducts and needing emergency surgery. So I got some homeopaths, which at the time I did not realize, but they were working but very slowly, which in my opinion is the safest way to do it when you do have stones. I continued to have attacks and they were extremely painful. In the pain and fear of the pain I chose the surgery and had my gallbladder removed. Afterwards they said there were not stones in my gallbladder but it was all scraped up from the stones being expelled. So I was very disappointed with myself. If I had waited and got another ultrasound I would have seen that they had all left and although extremely painful for them to leave naturally, far more so than the pain from the surgery, I would have been rid of them without removing part of my God given body and I would have been proud of myself for accomplishing such a feat. Personally it was a feat. So I went through everything to rid myself of them naturally as well as invasive surgery to rid myself of my gallbladder. So I don’t know if it would be at all beneficial for me to do a gallbladder cleanse now that I don’t have one and am curious to know if it would be?

  17. I have done two of those cleanses, but truly I didn’t enjoy them or felt amazing afterwards, I always ended up inflamed, I just can feel it, my stomach swells and my fingers get marked on my skin for some seconds, so I don’t think I will try that again. Last week I did a cleanse of green smoothies, no salt and no oils, and that was amazing, I totally lost my dependence on salt which is great, and discover too much oils for me are a no, so I’m limiting the amount of avocados and nuts during the day, because I rarely consume oils per se. So, I discover what really makes me feel good.

  18. James says:

Oil floats. Seems like there is a connection. Kevin tried to find out if they are actual stones, or mixture of bile and oil at 00:13:44. I have my doubts about them being stones too. My first thought is they are just formed from the oil consumed that may have gotten into the blood and is being eliminated from the blood by the liver and gallbladder. That worries me as I wouldn’t want to over work the system with too high of blood levels. However, eventually getting calcified stones out, if that only happens after many of these oil flushes, seems of interest. Also people like the speaker going from having painful ‘attacks’ to being clear also sounds good so on that note the flush sounds more beneficial than harmful. Does coconut oil work instead of olive oil?

  19. jade leong says:

I have and was about to do a liver and gall bladder cleanse, but was stop by a friend who
supplied me with many articles written by some
prominent doctors who claim that such cleanse
are a total hoax.what passes out are not stones
but just the oils that one has just drank much
earlier during the cleansing process.I am confused and very doubtful, would you care to comment ?. Thank you and I look forward to hear from you soon.

  20. jack tippetts says:

can I do a gallbladder flush if I have had My gallbladder removed?

  21. QC says:

The interview sounds interesting, I might get the book. However, I doubt that I will ever do the flush. It is a lot of oil. I rather go water fasting, it seems much safer that way.

  22. Jay says:

I’ve done roughly a dozen of the liver flushes over the last few years although it’s been more than a year since I’ve done one. Funny thing is is that I have been feeling the need to pick up again and there this story and interview was to get me motivated again. I have been waiting until I did some type of intestinal cleanse first though to clear the path.

I must say that the liver cleanse is not a pleasant experience so I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t feel that it was beneficial. The first time I tried it I had just been told by my doctor at the time that my cholesterol was 281 and needed to come down. I’d heard about the Amazing Liver Cleanse and decided to give it a go.I did it 3 times and when I went back for a follow-up my cholesterol was 179. I even brought some of the “stones” to show the doctor and she blew it off as one of those things on the internet that prey on gullible people to take their money. Funny thing is the only thing it cost me was a couple pink grapefruit since I already had the epson salt and olive oil hanging about the house. She did have it tested and it was pronounced “fecal matter” complete with cholesterol and bile but not gall stones. Since they didn’t find classic calcified stones she still didn’t believe. Oh yeah, also my “allergies” when away. I’ve since taken my medical business to an N.D.

So even if those bright green stones aren’t gall stones the flush does clear out a lot of stagnant bile and other assorted garbage in the liver. That’s a good thing!

  23. Lori says:

I would like to try the liver gallbladder cleanse, but I’ve heard that it can lower your good cholesterol and my numbers are already lower than where I’d like.

Is alright to do this cleanse if your good cholesterol is a bit low?

  24. Gerrie says:

I have tendinitis in the top of my left foot.It sounds like I need to do a lot of cleansing. Right? Gerrie.

  25. Sheri says:

Thanks so much for having this information for us all. The Doctor said my cholesterol is high, so this sounds like a perfect time to do this. Thanks for all your help, I will be glad to share the results of the cholesterol test after the liver cleanse. I just need to get the book first. Thanks, Sheri 🙂

  26. Rebecca Cody says:

Gallstones ARE stones! Years ago I lived in the country in Arkansas. A rather countrified neighbor lady had her gallbladder removed and she later showed me the stones. Some of them were close to 2″ in diameter! They were black and a dull mustard color and shiny. They were quite hard and she thought she’d have a necklace made from them! Yikes!

I do think it can be very problematic if you do a flush and stones that are too large to pass lodge in the bile duct. Emergency surgery time!

  27. Barbara says:

I have done ten cleanses and about to do the 11th this month.
I have no problem with any of it. Passed about 50 -100 stones
each time……maybe more on occasion Regardless of “what”
they are……I don’t want them in my body and I do feel a
    lot better after each cleanse.

  28. oregano says:

I’ve done about 20-30 liver cleanses over the year. I passed 100s of very small stones. I haven’t done a liver cleanse for a few years though. Maybe I’ll think of doing one to see what’s different to last time.

  29. Purple Ann says:

I have done 7 Liver Gall bladder cleanses using Andreas Moritz system and am totally sold on the process.

I have been 95% raw vegan and when I did the first one and got no stones I thought that my diet meant that I was clear of them. However because of the need to have 2 flushes that are clear before you know that you are clean I did another one and wow I produced so many stones of various sizes. I have been fascinated with what has come out of my body and as I live on a bus and only have a portapotti, i place some netting across the toilet and catch the little blighters and photograph them by a tape measure so I can see the sizes .
I must have flushed out 2000 stones so far and feel fabulous. The last one I did got out very few so I am about to do my eighth and wonder if I am coming to then end of the process.
I have also done a month long Ejuva colon cleanse which removed some impressive long strings of mucus (also photographed!) and I am now 3 weeks into a 3 month long colon health programme by Robert Gray.
I had a live and dried blood analysis 2 months ago and discovered that the mercury from the removal of my 12 amalgam fillings was still contaminating my blood. So I have followed a very specific programme which omitted most of the foods that I had been living on for the past 5 years such as spinach, kale, cauliflower, cashew nuts and coconut and I am due to go back for my follow up test next week so I will report back to let you know if it has had the profound effect on the health of my blood I hope for.
This is the most incredible journey and I feel 20 years younger than I did 20 years ago!

  30. Jane Gudge says:

i dd the liver flush more out of curiosity as my life and raw diet i suspect is above average healthy,
years of drinking green leaves means i can probably swallow anything that tastes a bit ugh without too much distress
however although disappointed is merely the result of expectation i was still a bit miffed as although the movement was substantial there were only maybe 5 little green coloured floating orbs, i suppose i had an idea of seeing a mass of glowing emerald jewels.. hahah
perhaps i will do another and see if there is any difference this time

  31. Heather says:

Hey Kevin! When will you be posting part 2 of your interview with Andreas Moritz? I loved the first half!

  32. myra kaiser says:

I have also done a liver gallblader flush, after doing a 5 day cleanse of drinking fresh juices. I to felt like I was going to puke in the moring, and that I was going to pass out. I had to lay on the bathroom floor, to be cool. I never did puke, and it took about an hour or so before I felt better. Then I did an enema, as was suggested. After that I felt great.
My sister did the same cleanse and then the liver, gallblader flush, and she said she was drained, just wanted to go to bed and sleep.

I got into this self healing about 25 years agoe , I was told I had RA, suffered for 9 months with pain . My doctor wanted to put me on chemo drugs, he said I would not be crippled if I did the drugs.
I chose to find another way.
I did a 2 week fast and have been a healthy being ever since.

  33. Qu says:

Hi Kevin ..I wanted to ask.. I have had a dentist replace a front upper crown with really putrid smelling gloves on and refusal to disenfect the prepped down tooth. i was afraid of infection . Severe pain started from it within one day. No pathology showed on the xray until now 8 months later! But even now dentists are refusing to help me with it. There is internal and external bone resorption ,impinging on an adjacent tooth. I have to go overseas to get treatment..but need to wait some months.
I will do a liver/gall flush to assist with the infection in the bone, but also is there something else i can do to assist with it all.? I don’t want to take antibiotics.I did use some colostrum to bring my immunune system up,plus I do have a pretty good lifestyle and diet..not really dairy or gluten and lots of smoothies ,seaweeds etc

  34. Amber says:

I have done 4 liver/gallbladder cleanses to date using Andreas’ method and have passed hundreds of stones. I have heard of the many doubts as to whether they are really liver and/or gallbladder stones and all I know is my health has improved substantially since doing the cleanses. Both emotionally and physically. I experience a lot less anger. Also, I used to get neck and shoulder pain on the right side of my body which I no longer do and the most amazing thing I have noticed since doing the cleanses is that my monthly cycle is normalizing and I no longer experience heavy cycles. I’ll be doing my 5th cleanse this week and will continue until no more stones come out!

  35. Cam says:

I just wanted to make a few comments after reading the other comments here (I didn’t listen to the audio as I have seen/read/heard lots from him before). I have only done one experimental liver flush and I found the epsom salts gave me a headache, plus I didn’t get any stones at all (that I noticed!). I did however notice some sandy looking stuff come out during the post flush colonic/hydrotherapy session. Actually both the pre and post colonics gave me toxic headaches, so they must have stirred something up. I’m due to do my next flush tomorrow. I use Andreas Moritz method and this time I have added Chianca Piedra herbs (as a tea) as well as gold coin grass (Chinese) also as a tea for the past 6 days. These are supposed to help soften and dissolve stones. I can feel them doing something and my eczema is slightly worse since starting the pre flush regime. I drank a lot of freshly juiced apples the first time, but I’m taking malic acid this time. 1tsp/litre (35oz US?) each day. You can get this from home brew shops or wineries. No doubt online too – it’s cheap. Oh, and I also did a 4 day juice fast prior to my first flush, but I’m not this time. My major symptoms are chronic fatigue, brain fog, poor memory, RSI, and a bunch of other chronic stuff, there is a lot to be gained when I find the key to detoxing.

To comment on some other things I saw above
    – Firstly, if you’re considering doing the flush, then I highly highly recommend you read the Oct 2012 edition of Andreas Moritz’s book as it answers a lot of the questions asked above.
    – I agree with some of the comments above. Who cares what the stones are as long as you feel better after the flush or at least feel like some toxins were shifted. If the stones were formed from bile/citrus then they would surely be produced after every flush, but they seem to stop.
    – You can still do the flush if you don’t have a gallbladder. I would guess that most stones come from the liver just based on my research.
    – If you’re having a gall stone attack, some people swear by gold coin grass, so perhaps have some of that handy
    – Regarding cholesterol – I highly recommend doing your research on that issue as apparently we have been told lies about high cholesterol being bad for us (Not sure if Kevin has looked at that yet). I would be more concerned about low cholesterol than high cholesterol since it is essential to maybe bodily functions. It’s role in heart disease is apparently one of trying to heal the sides of your arteries and so it gets blamed as the cause, when it isn’t necessarily the originating cause. Do your research and choose what feels best for you. Google/YouTube ‘cholesterol lies’ or something similar.

I do wonder how a large gall stone that might get stuck would even enter the bile ducts. Finger’s crossed mine pass effortlessly and painlessly (assuming I have some).

Also a word about believing one source of information saying not to do the flush or anything else for that matter. Just because someone has a Dr prefix in front of their name does not mean we should give our power away to them. Or just because some website/document says the liver flush is dangerous/useless/etc does not mean it is true. We live in a world of duality, and you will find 2 sides to every coin if you look hard enough. Some people just use fear to manipulate you and keep you from finding easy/cheap solutions. There is also the big pharma conspiracy/propaganda as they make money out of keeping us all sick and sadly the corporations are of course driven more by profit than ethics. So we need to be awake and on our toes about what is best for us. There are also well-meaning people passing on info as truth because they read it somewhere but didn’t do any research themselves. It’s a tricky one.

Anyway, don’t take my word for this. I think what is important for any health treatment is that you take responsibility and do your research. Nobody knows you as well as you do! Someones there will be fear, so use your research to help minimise that listen to your own intuition as it knows what is best for you.

Happy flushing! (if you chose to do it)

  36. Nikos says:

    Hi all
I just finished this morning my 2nd cleansing. I was amazed by the size of the stones. Some where 3cm long in diameter. I felt tremendous relief when flushing them.
After my first cleansing I dropped 30 stones of smaller size, but this time I must have dropped allready 40 with much bigger sizes and darker colour.

I already feel rejuvenated, but I know I must wait for the full cleansing to really experience the fruitfull effects.

One comment though: My girlfriend which we did the first time the method, she actually fainted at the night after the drinking of the oliveoil-juice mkixture (5 hours after the drinking). She is hypotensive and I think that the combination of Magnesium and dehydration must have lowered the pressure a lot.
I would like some more views on that since I am not a physician of any kind.

Thank you, and thanks to Moritz and all this people who helped propagate the method and helped lots of people out there in improving their lives.
