Kevin Gianni is a health author, activist and blogger. He started seriously researching personal and preventative natural health therapies in 2002 when he was struck with the reality that cancer ran deep in his family and if he didn’t change the way he was living — he might go down that same path. Since then, he’s written and edited 6 books on the subject of natural health, diet and fitness. During this time, he’s constantly been humbled by what experts claim they know and what actually is true. This has led him to experiment with many diets and protocols — including vegan, raw food, fasting, medical treatments and more — to find out what is myth and what really works in the real world.

Kevin has also traveled around the world searching for the best protocols, foods, medicines and clinics around and bringing them to the readers of his blog RenegadeHealth.com — which is one of the most widely read natural health blogs in the world with hundreds of thousands of visitors a month from over 150 countries around the world.

I looked on functionalmedicine.org. I found a doctor in Toronto that I would love to see, but when I called the office, they explained that they do extensive testing which costs like 4-6 grand!

I would love to go there one day, they test for everything! I hope I win the lottery soon ; )

I’m still on the search for a good doctor.

id love one! it concerns me that there is so much semi information but when you really need to consult someone there is no one to turn to and the information only takes you a little way..there is nothing to back it up and no one to support – certainly not in the middle of the uk anyway though ive heard people in the south of uk say the same thing..

  4. I am trying to find one actually but where I live (in a small town in Sweden) it’s not so common… actually I donät know any!! I know that there is some in the capital but I live like 4 hours from there so that’s really not on option : ( but if I do get some serious sickness or something I will definitely go there!! Right know I feel really good.. but I still want to check my blood through a blood analyze!!!!

    Hey guys,

I have a somewhat unrelated question- I’ve been on allergy shots for a few months, and I’ve recently adopted a raw food protocol that I’m hoping is detoxing my system. Since cleaning up my diet, I’ve noticed the allergy shots provoke tiredness and a slight headache… is there or could there be anything toxic in the allergy shot formulation and would you recommend continuing these or just trying to improve my immune system in other ways?

Thanks so much for your input!

    Neil

  6. Sue Rushford says:

Hi Neil, I think your question really is related cause it sounds like you might want to see a holistic doctor about your allegies. I have allergies, too, tho only to cats, rabbits, & horses, so I never looked into shots, and I am not any sort of health practitioner, but I will say this, when you go on [well-balanced] raw, you can actually get rid of your allergies which are auto-immune, and you will begin realizing that with all these shots that are filled with chemicals, even if they do work for their intended purposes, they will most likely have some sort of negative side-effect, and you’ll end up having to detox from the shots! Possibly better to go 100% raw at least just until you get rid of your allergies. I went 100% during the month of March, 2009, and I did get rid of my allergies – it was amazing! However, I’m back to 75% raw now, and the allergies are back. But that’s just me – you may be totally different. It sounds like you might really benefit from a holistic or integrative doctor or practitioner.

I’m in Chicago and have not been to the doctor ever since he tried to push whooping cough vaccine on me in 2008, nor have I been sick. But I do have the names of a few holistic/integrative doctors I’ve heard great things about – first is Dr. Emily Lindner on the north side – then Dr. Carlos Reynes in River Forest – Dr. Frer for accupuncture – I did get blood work from Dr. John Stracks, Integrative Medicine @ Northwestern – he seems knowledgeable (& raw/vegan friendly), but I guess I still didn’t get what I wanted to know from the blood tests. I have in my pile of things to read Kevin’s How to Read Your Blood Test Results print-outs – got some DirectLabs results last month – showed I was super deficient in D (I’m back supplementing), but what else – I need to read up but personally would probably check out Dr. Reynes or Lindner myself – I know they are also both very raw/vegan friendly. I referred a few friends to Dr. Lindner, & she helped them with candidiasis. Dr. Reynes has helped another acquaintance with hormonal issues.

If anyone knows of a good doctor in or near Kyoto City, Japan, I would absolutely love to hear about them. Even a ‘regular’ doctor would be fine. I’ve certainly had no luck in my searches but would love to be surprised.

  8. barbara says:

I got allergy shots for years. I finally realized they were making me sick after I got them. I discontinued them and had less problems. Good naturopath and chiropractor Dr. Ellen Pothoff in Martinez, CA.

  9. Maria says:

Okay so if anyone in London, England would like an extremely down-to-earth, non “woo woo” (hey, yes that’s a scientific term!!!) and extremely experienced acupuncturist then go see mine: Helen Robertson at Belsize Health http://www.belsizehealth.co.uk/

She is British yet extremely knowledgeable about Chinese medicine (she is also a Chinese herbalist practitioner). She is continually evolving and studying further to improve her practice and broaden her mind (etc). She has been with me on my journey for 7 (wow it really is SEVEN) years now. Sometimes I see her weekly, sometimes I have big gaps which she sees as me moving on/exploring or whatever – never negative!! Some peeps only require a session or two.
She has a huge heart and doesn’t rip anyone off.
    That is my opinion.
    She rocks!!!
[uh…hey Kev you said give ’em a shout – when I think something is heart worthy I cannot help but shout loud, lol] xxx

  10. Maria says:

Ps my disclaimer: nothing is a magic bullet and no practitioner works for everybody….!X

  11. fedup says:

I checked the listings in my town. I don’t know all the practitioners but the ones I know I would not recommend.

  12. Gina says:

    Hello
I am responding to your invitation to write
about a Premier Naturopath that has gotten
me well. (From near death) and many others
I know as well. I had heavy metal poisoning
along with growing up in the DDT era. My
system could no longer handle the burden.
I have been seeing this Naturopath for 11
years and have been able to work again after
a few years of treatment. Rebuilding my health
from where I was, was no small feat. But
here I am. Better than I have ever been. His
name is Robert Steiner – Naturopath in Canyon
    Lake,Ca Phone 951-244-2489. With over 20 years
experience. His story is also amazing. He was
dying from LEAD poisoning over 200 times the
legal limit. Call if you are serious about
getting on the road to health !!!
