I love working out my abs/core. having a strong core has dramatically improved my running. I also feel a strong core has improved my overall health.

I’m so glad you’re doing these shows; I’ve missed Fitness Fridays! I love to exercise, but have gotten into a bit of a slug space. My abs cry out for attention, and love it when I work them. There is nothing like a strong core. These look great!

I love working my abs, especially in my yoga classes, and yes, the ones you demonstrated work the entire core and are great, especially when you hold and repeat.
Thanks so much for sharing, it pays off big dividents, balance, strength and great posture.

I have to admit that I do not like ab exercises–of course they are the ones I need the most, along with balance exercises. I haven’t had any abs since I gave birth to my last kid. OK–my last kid is 23 years old–sigh. The good thing is that my health has improved so much since I have gone raw (about 80 to 90 %) I will keep working at it. :)

Annmarie you sure do look great! Yes I do like to work my abs @ times.
If I didn’t do anything during the day I then do some crunches on my bed before going to sleep and my abs are tighter than my 22 yr old daughter, she even had me show her friends up at college one time, & I’m 58 yrs young! Haven’t been so good lately with my workouts, full time work & all but still walk 3 miles 3x weekly. Interested in your book
but not available in soft/hard cover? Keep up the good work, love you guys!! MARI

when doing plank it is also really great to roll forward and backwards on your toes. i also love doing the side plank with both arms fully extended. walking plank is one of my favorites. one of my go to’s when i’m out of town.

    LOVE ab workouts!

    Hi,
This is not about abs, but I see it as the best way to contact you.
I recently bought the Rawkathon in teh digitatl version. These interviewsare so full of usefull information. Being from Denmark I know that not everybody will not get the full benefit of the Rawkathon without subtitles.
So I wonder if you would contact me to discuss some arrangement so that I can distribute the Rawkathon with subtitles.
    Thanks.

I absolutely detest ab workouts :) for real. They are my least favorite, and I know core strength is pretty much the most important. Go figure!

About the only time I really like exercise is when I get ‘double duty’ from the effort, like mowing the lawn, or sweeping the sidewalk, or admiring the beauty of nature while kayaking.

I wonder if you have the whole week mapped out already. I’m a breast cancer survivor, had surgery that curtailed my range of motion, plus I’m at risk of lymphedema on the surgery side. I never used to have flabby arms, but those bingo wings practically appeared overnight. I’d love to firm those flappy things up!

I love ab exercises! They seem to be one of the easiest ones for me, which HAS to mean I have nice abs inside there somewhere.

I always say I have perfect washboard abs…

I’m just doing a load of towels right now :)

OK. I can make use of such a tutorial. Thanks!! I did the stretching this morning – saw where I had gotten tight over the years – and replayed it this morning and the core – which I’ll try tomorrow morning…….
I love being shown what to do!

    I like your shoes!
I don’t like to exercise and that is a problem.
I do better with eating right than exercising, but I’m going to start working on exercising more.

I don’t have anything against ab exercises but I don’t do them often enough I guess since I have a naturally flat waist. I focus more on legs where I have most of my excess weight.

When I DO do ab workouts, my favorite one is the P90X Ab Ripper X (video)! Only 15 minutes, not boring at all, and effective as h*ll! Love it!

Hi Kevin and Ann Marie, thanks for the great demo Ann Marie – you make it look easy. I agree working on abs is very satisfying – you can feel the benefits quickly.

These actually look like something I would do. I hate situps or crunches as they bothered my neck.

  20. Darlene
    11:46 am on August 25th, 2010

I used to hate doing the plank but now it’s one of my favourite exercises! I guess once your core gets stronger it gets easier to do!

It also helps that the Crossfit workouts we do in our classes have a gzillion situps sometimes – like when we did the 23 minute AMRAP and I managed to fit in 147 situps! Whew! I still feel my muscles after that!

Thanx, love the new one, the break dance one. I love ab work and it’s nice to find new ways to work them. Oh I was wondering were you got your shoes? I’ve seen them before but can’t remember where. Thank you! ; )

HI, a little off the subject, but I really gel w/ Ann Marie’s face care line, and wonder what she does for hair care. I’m experiementing with a changeover from detergents and petroleum/plastic based conditioners, but I have waist long blonde hair and am finding it a little tough – plus I swim laps every day (salt water pool). After many years of fructus based commercial shampoeing, I am really knowing the stages of “hair detox” that I read about on blogs. I look awful. I need help! Any ideas for natural hair care that moisturizes and is gentle enough for every day? (beyond the coconut oil in the hair thing, which I do every day.) Thanks! hey! Start a hair care line, would ya? :)

    LOVE ab workouts :-)
I’m really appreciating these exercise tips and routines. I like the look of that breakdancing one so I’ll try to incorporate some of these into my ab workout tomorrow. Have tried the plank exercises lately and found them really hard! Had tender muscles in my rib area after that. I guess it worked muscles I don’t use much.

No, I don’t like them at all butI know they are necessary. I love the exercise shows. I still do the shoulder twist one you showed us some time back and love it as it feels so good.

    Thanks.

Hmm…I like the ab exercises that don’t feel like ab exercises (example the breakdancer or the merry-go-round look cool!) I’m definitely going to try out this workout!

I do an ab workout 4 times a week but would not say I enjoy it. Very impressive plank workout Annmarie. It is my goal to have good abs for a cruise I am going on in February 2011 so I am going to give those plank exercises a try and hopefully I will learn to at least like them.

Do not like ab exercises. Sit ups hurt my neck and upper back – due to car accident. I will give these a try and see how they work.
