Hi ….
I share this list from Gary Nabhan, PhD…

• Each time it rains, follow the flow of water through where you live, and see how it can be encouraged to nurture the most life.
• Find what is edible within a quarter-mile of where you live, track its seasons of edibility, and incorporate it into your diet.
• Make an interspecific peace pact with the wildlife that lives closest to you to “do no harm.”
• Reduce your carbon footprint by sun-drying all your clothes as well as all the fruit that you can’t immediately eat when it is ripe.
• Talk to the oldest person in your neighborhood to learn what the place used to smell, sound, taste and look like.
• Talk to the youngest people in your neighborhood and ask them what they’d like the place to be like in another 10 to 20 years, then help them achieve your common goals.
• Make a list of major environmental or cultural mistakes made in the Southwest over the last century, and promise not to let history repeat itself.
• Make an artistic monument in a nearby public space to all that has been lost in the Southwest – or your neighborhood – and host a day of grieving and a festival of repentance.
• Have people write poems, songs, pictures and laments about what they think is most special about where they live in the Southwest and what endangers that uniqueness. Compile these expressions into a mural or a festival.
• Every day, do something here that you’d never be able to do in New York, Paris, Athens or Rome, or in cyberspace.

We’re vegan, we garden veganically, we eat mostly local, we use very little plastics, recycle glass … about all that’s left is to get a composting toilet!

How about rain barrels? They catch the rain from the roof and you can reuse it to water your garden. Great idea! I love being vegan and raw and really appreciate Kevin. Keep rockin’!

I like to watch a sunset or sunrise on the beach. I can feel the connection with the earth.
BTW, I have a question. I just found 2 canker sores on my tongue. Am I eating too much sugar (fruits in green smoothie)?

Thank you for the Earth Day message, my favorite of the top 10 is
“Look into an animals eyes”
Kevin you may not be able to answer my question but maybe you know someone who can. My baby is about to turn 1 year old. Her diet consists of breast milk, raw fruit and veggies, green smoothies and some steamed veggies. I have experimented a little with giving her a tiny bit of cooked grains but my intuition says that she does not need them. Now that she is depending on a greater amount of solid food for her nutrition, I’m wondering what other kinds of raw foods I should introduce to keep her healthy and developing as she should be. I am considering foods like hemp protein, flax, chia, and also am wondering when it is okay to introduce something like carob, and occasional nuts for special treat.
Thanks,
Paula

I hope you guys enjoy Costa Rica so much! It’s so amazing, especially their care and love for nature there. It is taught in school from the beginning to make the most of your resources and care for your environment, which just amazes me because of how different it is in the U.S. I just studied there for almost 3 months and it was just amazing! HAPPY EARTH DAY!

yes, walked barefoot on the grass, recently installed a dual flush toilet (they are only $178 at Menard’s); planted an herb bowl, strawberries, and have kale growing from seed, parsley, peppers.
My beautiful son (14) took my organic lavender seeds to school today to plant as well.
Spent good time with our doggie family companion that my son chose at the local animal shelter. He is fed 80% raw (BARF) and I will be teaching Keeping Fido and Kitty Healthy, the Ancestral Biologically correct diet for pets, avoiding disease.
I”m teaching eating less meat and teaching why.
love and light,
karen

When you take a shower save the cold water in a large bottle for watering plants.
Use your water from cooking veggies for your plants or for soup.
Buy in large quanities to save on the amount of plastics you consume.
Use recyclable bags for shopping.
Recycle all your plastics, paper, glass and etc.
Buy locally grown foods to save on transports use of oils and etc.
Get a water filter and use a recycle bottle for water. Don’t drink from water from plastic bottles.
If it is close enough to walk. Then walk and don’t use the car.
Use public transportation.
Carpool to save on gas and help our little planet.
Have only 2 children so the population does not increase. That way you are only reproducing yourself.
Raise the blade on you lawn mower so your lawn does not require so much watering.
Plant local grown plants in your yard.
Grow you own herbs for cooking.
If you have a house start a garden.

I have some chia seeds that spilled on my counter (don’t want to eat them), so I’m soaking them in preparation for planting.
I’ve been reusing the plastic bags that hold fruit/veggies and bringing them to the grocery store along with my green bags. Every once in a while I flip them inside out and give them a good rinse.
Great show!!

It would be awesome if you did a show on how to compost in an apartment. Maybe you could talk about the different methods? Thanks!

Hi from Croatia!
So, one thing I found that is amazing experience is to connect with people from famers market and to offer them your labor. I go to my friend who grows food and I weed her crops and she gives me edible weed for free. Not to talk about on how much levels you connect that way to the earth even you do not have ability to grow you own garden.
Happy Earth day!

What a beautiful setting for an Earth Day show. Great ideas for celebration.
I fed my worms and looked into their eyes as I wished them Happy Earth Day.
I gave their tea to the asparagus as I looked into its eyes too. I beautified my garden with smooth round rocks to keep the ground cover at bay.
I signed up for an art class where I want to paint trees. I’d like to paint a Tree of Life, a Tree of Knowledge, and a Wish-Fulfilling Tree for starters. I love Trees.

I do believe in recycling but I also believe that some things you get in a second hand shop has got bad vibes (bad energy). I’ve experienced this myself so now I don’t buy second hand stuff anymore. But I do recycle, plant and started to compost for my garden next year. And I walk barefoot if I can in the garden.

Here is a teeny weeny little thing I’ve been connecting with. I often resist the impulse to turn the lights on in the day hours, even if it is cloudy, and look around and ask myself, “what can’t i already see? it would be brighter and clearer, but is that necessary at this moment?”

Get your friends to watch the documentary Food.Inc
http://www.pbs.org/pov/foodinc/photo_gallery_watch.php
It will be online until April 29. It lasts about 90 minutes. Great information on what kinds of food to definitely avoid at the grocery.
I also shows how Monsanto’s GMO crops are taking over the entire country. “Their” pollen is blown by the wind for miles. Once it pollinates your crop (despite whether or not you want it to), it becomes the property of Monsanto. The film shows this happening with the soy farms, and Monsanto’s detectives harassing and suing farmers. It is a bit scary because they are now gaining patents on many different crops. And our corrupt government is allowing this to happen.

You two are funny! Love seeing your dynamic together. Anyway, I am just so happy that our apartment complex now has recycling dumpsters and that they get full! Yeah! Teaching your kids to connect with nature is always fun. When I came home from work, my four year old told ME it was Earth Day!

In your email today you talked about how you restored your mineral levels. Was that the main thing you did to restore your adrenal glands or are there other things you did for that too?

DON’T PROCREATE!
Don’t reproduce, because making more humans is THE WORST thing for the planet.

Hi guys,
Love the show and information…
I would be interested in knowing:-
If you were diagnosed with cancer What systems / protocols would you put in place to give your self the best chance of curing yourself? (please be very specific)
Also
If you were diagnosed with heart disease what systems / protocols would you put in place to give your self the best chance of curing yourself? (please be very specific)
The reason I ask this is that almost everyone we know will die from one of these things (not with standing accidents) and it is very hard to get a definitive answer. I realise that the information you give is not medical advice; However, I am sure many people would appreciate a solid starting point.
Many thanks
Keep up the good work
Mark

Find and encourage people to use a natural spring in their area for the best free water you can use. (findaspring.com)
Walk or ride a bike as often as possible.
Use a train or boat or any public transporatation
where it is available
use the water from your shower or tub that you use waiting for warm or hot water to take a shower or bath and use it to flush your tolet or wash your floor.
use rechargeable batteries
use solar power for outside lights and to charge
your phone or ipod.

Kevin you tend to cover so much information in a excellent fired up manner I think Ann Marie felt a little short on what she wanted to say (I sense) her shy reserved countenance reflected that to me ,may be it was the sun or wind, in the romantic atmosphere you both are in the Park . Great job both of you, wish you both the very best !Watch your programs is a celebration !

I have been reading about using worms to compost. You can actually keep them in your apartment in plastic bins. Then the droppings they leave are great for your plants. I am really excited about trying it. Sounded gross at first, but when you read about it it actually seem pretty easy and clean.
