You guys are too cute! I did an ab workout yesterday, but prior to that, it had been a few weeks. I gotta try the inch worm move, that looks like fun!

Can’t recall the last time I hung upside down!

Thanks for bringing back fitness Fridays!

Let’s see, I work out my abs pretty much every time I work out since I mostly do moves that involve the core in some way. But, it’s not a bad idea to focus on some specific abs moves from time to time. I’m so glad you’re bringing back fitness friday!! You’ll have to show us what that yoga swing is all about sometime.

I enjoy your show. Thank you for all the tips and information that you share.

I have been trying to incorporate quick exercises into my daily life and I tighten my abs and core every time I think about it, while driving, while sitting, while standing. I hold the tightness for about the count of 10.

I try to start the day by hanging over the side of my bed, upside down. Sometimes I will read a quick paragraph or two while I am upside down. I thought that the extra blood to the brain would be beneficial as well as the feeling of a face lift.

Good show. I rarely do abs workouts, and it shows. I must start today because my daughter-in-law gave me a slinky red dress for Christmas that I want to wear to a March dinner dance. I’ll be the sexiest granny there.

Very cool! I can watch you work out all day, Annmarie. I like the one about doing the leg raises while sitting at your computer. Simple but somehow I hadn’t seen it before.

Planks might be good to demonstate for people who are less mobile. There are so many variations and those babies can really burn without risk of injury.

I do ab workouts about every other day. I’ve been following Scott Colby’s workouts after you guys had him on the show. I like them because they’re varied and I can do them in my own home. I’m jealous you guys are in shorts and t-shirts! Looking forward to seeing my husband who’s in West Palm Beach, FL right now fixing a boat we recently bought.

l use my inversion table daily (sometimes a few times a day) and do crunches on it. lt’s great for that, similar to your yoga swing, which l would love but have no room for inside. Although now l’m wondering if l could put a hook in a ceiling beam… ;-)

My last abs workout was Thursday.
Lots of plank, crunches, and an in-place “inchworm.” I walked my hands out into plank and then walked them back in, rather than moving forward.
Thanks for the reminder of small movements I can make at my work desk that will have a big impact if I just keep doing them over time.

Yesterday! JAZZERCISE! It shows! Seriously yes. People still Jazzercise. Even some raw vegan people (though I have noticed that the raw vegan thing is seriously not the norm). ;)

I have probably not hung upside down since I was a kid, and rarely then. I didn’t really have a true appreciation for the monkey bars, as I had a highly overdeveloped sense of my own mortality. (As in, if I fell, that would hurt!)

    Thanks from Austin, Texas!

this reminds me of how lazy I’ve been lately…and I usually like to workout ALL the time! haha…but fortunately school’s starting with a ton of workout classes I signed up for :) …I’ll be working my belly every week with belly dancing and then there’s yoga, kick boxing and zumba so I’ll be set :)
i’ve been upside down hanging from my pull up bar a couple days ago lol. Other than that I’m upside down every day with headstands..I love ‘em.
wow that yoga swing is an interesting contraption…I’d love see how that works.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the great shows. I was drinking my smoothie this morning along side a cup of tea and I was stuck… could the hot tea water kill active enzymes/probiotics that my smoothie contains? Would the tea water cook my smoothie in my belly oven!?

    Thanks!!

Thank you so much Annmarie! I’m always looking for ways to stretch or exercise while studying, and the feet lift feels GREAT.

I also often wonder if drinking hot tea should not be done within a certain time frame of, say, taking supplements. And I tend to delay drinking tea after eating, I think from that thought at the back of mind, which I’m now curious about the actuality of.

This show was awesome, thx guys. I love these workouts. I tried them today after watching the vid. I have to admit I haven’t worked my abs in a couple months….I don’t like the traditional floor exercises and often I have to force myself to do them, but these were like standing and sitting workouts. I am always looking for standing ab exercises. Thank you so much!

    You guys are too cute!

Loved that show! I love the end Anne Marie :) And great advice and moves, too. I am so glad that you started with just ‘holding them in”. Its sooo true. I dont usually do a focused ab “workout”, but in general, hold my abs tight and VISUALIZE them how you want them. I think that works wonders…

I hang upside down every chance I can get. I use our gym like a “jungle-gym” LOL. I am always hanging from anything I can. It just feels Sooooooo good. DO IT!

    Love and Aloha~

PS- You guys are gettin tan! yeeehaw!

AnnMarie, I tried your big circle stretch and it is great. It really gets you going in the morning, especially for senior muscles that are slow to start.
I’m also sucking in my belly and standing taller while I walk. If it doesn’t help, at least I feel like a noble queen.
I really like these new Fitness Fridays. They are relevant to me. The one on proper foot gear last year didn’t appeal. But the last few from YOU are excellent.

If holding my core for ice dancing 6 days a week counts, I did one today. … hung upside down would be an ice dance lift for me, that was last week

I liked the video. I really liked the progressions. I also liked that you gave me something to do at my desk while at work (desk job).

you guys are absolutely adorable! sadly, the last time I worked my abs was 6 yrs ago. the last 6 yrs have been spent having 2 kids with pre-eclampsia throughout both, and my stomach is hiding underneath a ‘pregnant looking’ lump of flab :(
    but…
I am on day 15 of my juice fast, have lost 14 pounds and going for 92 days. I think these exercises are going to help to tone my tummy and help my back too.
    thanks for the vid

Thank you for bringing back Fitness Friday. Hurray!

I last “worked out” my abs in Saturday’s Power Yoga class.
However, I’ve been making a conscious effort to keep my abs in (belly to spine). Especially when I’m sitting at my desk.

  53. Leslie
    12:17 pm on February 2nd, 2010

Abs workouts are pretty much my focus. For my body, everything else is almost aesthetic, while core work is necessary. A couple of things I’ve found to help, in addition to exercise: I recline my driver’s seat all the way back and pretend my commute’s on horseback. I’m in transition from watching TV lying back to watching, perched atop a balance ball, so less of my time is just sitting.
Thanks for everything you do. Kevin, Annmarie, and the community rock!

I will start doing some of these simple exercises again.
I am riding a stationary bike for a future project where I will ride for 3 hours straight.

  57. Katie

I don’t know how or when I fell upon you (over a year ago for sure), but your raw foods ideas intrigued me. So, periodically, I’d watch! I’ll spare you the details, but wanted you to know that literally, about an hour ago, I left a nutritionist’s office for a consultation to learn about plant based proteins and raw foods!!! (I thought you’d like that!) Being in the fitness industry, ANIMAL proteins are pushed on clients. Even tons of dairy. Well, through my own personal journal I have learned that these are so often the culprit of so many ailments and poor digestion……and here I am, beginning this new chapter of my life, and I wanted to share with you that you are the first person I heard speak about this!! =D I’ll keep you posted with my journey!

On a fitness note, with regard to your abs exercises…love ‘em! Good choices! Also…if I could add, if your viewers don’t eat CLEAN and lose the ‘extra’ covering the abs, they won’t be able to admire all that hard work!! =) So, eat clean AND do these core exercises! And if I could add one more thing (I swear!), don’t forget balancing the lower back exercises with the front core exercises to strengthen the entire core. I think we so often forget the lower back, and so many of us have weak lower backs.

K, yo guys are great! Keep spreading the word!

Have a healthy and FIT day! =)

    ~Katie

Two other great ways to work your abs:
a Rebounder! was sore for 3 days when I first started, but it is so much fun to use. while watching tv etc.

An ab-roller, Former Pres Reagan rumored to use one regularly. Power Wheel II is a great one, can also strap to your feet and crunch up!

    Anna-Marie, teeth looking white! :)
