Favorite green – kale! (Lots of kale salad; also kale “chips”)
Favorite powder – currently boku, but recently also started using vitamineral green – both great products. Plan to start using both revitaphi and ormus also, as both appear to be excellent too. Since each may have different strengths, I like to use multiple kinds.

Wife and I do love the kale, she make omlettes with it all the time. Good stuff. SO, does the ORMUS greens actually contain any ORMUS? Or is that just the name for marketing purposes?

Don’t really care for any powder that I’ve tried. My favorite green for juicing is purslane, a weed that I don’t pull out of my garden until I’m ready to eat it!

It would be great to do a taste test with VitaMineral Green powder since that’s the one I use, but I’m open to trying something new. It has grasses, so perhaps it should be compared to the Ormus greens, which had a grassy taste.

I’m surprised neither team member thought the powders smelled like algae – do those powders contain any algae ingredients? VitaMineral Green does, so I’d be curious to see what they think about it.

I just checked your store, and it looks like each of the green powders are very different – maybe you could do a segment on all the different green powders, algae products, etc. to show what each are best used for, and describe the difference in taste. Would be good marketing for your store too!

I prefer the real deal, so I like to juice kale since it is said to be the healthiest raw green but I do like spinach very much, romaine, bok choy and chinese cabbage.
I also do the green weeds from my garden like purslane, dandelion, perilla some mint and several others, fresh picked.
I often mix the weeds with the organic store bought to bring up the amount and vary the flavor.

Juice Plus–although you normally take it in capsule form, you can open the capsules and mix the powder in water or juice. I have tasted the Orchard Blend one (fruits) and it is a delicious cherry flavour. The Garden Blend one (vegetables) kind of reminds me of dulse, which I like. The Vineyard Blend one (grapes and berries) is rather bitter, probably because of blackberries and so on which I am not fond of. I am so glad they are in capsules! The other thing I really like about Juice Plus is that the foods are not fragmented to make the product; they are just juiced and dehydrated and ground into a powder so all the constituent parts that make them work synergestically just like the whole foods do are there. I use Jameth Sheridan’s Vitamineral Green, which I believe is one of the best values in high quality green powder that is available. Also, I don’t care for sweetened greens unless they are also acidified, so for me Stevia ruins a lot of otherwise acceptable green products. Green powder plus fruit and water is a good basis for a green smoothie if there are no fresh greens to be had, but i like green powder plus fresh greens and fruit, the core of my lunch for many years.

    Kevin,

I have a question. Do you think that liquid greens products like Vital Greens are as good as their powder counterparts? I’m curious because I have used both and see benefits from using them but I want to do what is most effective in delivering nutrition to my body and maximizing my health.

    Thanks so much!

People from the office aren’t under any pressure not to gag are they??? Kev, don’t most sunlamps have timers? In florida, Publics food stores sell two types of green drinks that have fruit juice consentrates but only 140 calories. That’s a good base for my green drinks and aloe.I know it’s a better diet option than beer, but if Bolthouse Farms “Green goodness” comes from some sort of Meatrix factory let me know. Well so much for my coping mechanism to add nutrient dense foods to my diet. Green Vibrance,Royal Greens,Greens+,Fiber Greens,Green Defense and Fiber Greens all are an aquired taste. Laugh on

Johnny 5 is living with Annmarie’s Parents over the holiday’s.

Thanks for the update on Johnny5.!!

Annmarie, you did a wonderful job on Kevin’s goatee. It looks well groomed. You must have also rubbed some of your Coconut Body and Face oil on your palms and massaged it into Kevin’s curly hair,…it certainly looks better and curlier today! You probably knew that curly hair is generally more coarse and dry. Your light touch with the Coconut Oil did a wonderful job in relaxing the curls!

If you and Kevin can’t make my offer of a FREE haircut at my dog grooming shop,I have over 25 years experience with curly hairs, the following is a LINK-TIP for Kevin’s next curly-haired cut.

Now that you’re both armed with the proper curly info, your next Mission Impossible is only to fatefully find Edward Scissorhands lurking in your neighborhood.

Hey, Annmarie, try doing it yourself on a show. I know you can do it!

Good Health to the Both of You!!
Look forward to the continued education!

I just got the Ormus Supergreens delivered today. It tastes pretty good. I put it in coconut water though. Sort of reminds me of Greener Grasses w/ mint and stevia. But the one thing I did get was a nice burst of clean energy, so it’s definitely a keeper.Just wish it didn’t have the stevia in it.I’ve always been a big fan of Gary Nulls Green Stuff and Greens and Grains- both excellent green powders, but my favorite green drink has to be Pure Synergy. That green powder will knock your socks off with its steady clean energy. I was even able to kick the coffee habit w/ Pure Synergy. The new Ormus Supergreens is a close second!

My own dried kale varieties. I grow my own in the summer and buy it in the winter. I dry them in a very low oven temp and watch them constantly until they are dried. Then I pulverize the dried greens and store them in a dark container. I started doing my own due to the high costs of the store bought products. I used to really like Berry Greens but I wasn’t able to continue to afford it.
I can now even give my dogs greens in their food.

I use two green powders according to whatever is needed on a particular day.

    1) Nikken’s Jade Greenzymes which is a barley grass that’s grown in energized water above cloud level in Japan (no chemtrail garbage in it). It’s very alkalizing and tastes like spinach water. Quite pleasant and works quickly.

    2) Inliven probiotic superfood which is raw and fermented and contains 13 strains of bacteria http://www.goodskinforlife.com under health for ingredient list. Certified organic. Great for digestion and candida and contains all amino acids.

I’d be interested to try Revitaphi since so many people really like it. I would not like a green drink to contain stevia or mint. I really dislike sweetened stuff unless it’s fruit or chocolate or something that’s sweet in nature. I’d also like to try Boku. I’m not overly keen on green smoothies. Fruit smoothies or chia smoothies YES! Greens, YES!

I bought a bunch of Klamuth Lake powder quite a long time ago and it tasted horrid but had a really nice effect on the brain. Would be nice if there was a way to make it taste good.

    Hi Renegade Health Gang,

I have had the privledge of testing many green formulas over the years. Some have great ingredients, some have great taste and some even have both. I’ve also tried some nasties with not so great ingredients and fillers but for the most part, there are a lot of high quality greens on the market.

I am currently testing two products at the moment. The first one is greens+ extra energy – natural cappuccino flavor by Genuine health. Greens+ by genuine health is formulated by the greens guru Sam Graci and was one of the first greens product on the market and has won a number of awards. Of all the green+ formulas I’ve tried, this one is probably my favorite for taste (next to original). It is especially good with Vega’s whole food powder or a cacao shake. Besides tasting pretty decent, the list of high quality ingredients is impressive with organic barley, alfalfa and wheat grasses, Spirulina and phosphatide as their main ingredients. They also include a number of powerful herbal extracts like ginsing, licorice root, milk thistle, ginko biloba and astragalus root. It also contains non dairy probiotics. The big negative for most flavors of greens+ is that it tastes horrible and and I find them WAY too sweet. All in all the green+ extra energy is a pretty solid choice.

The second product I’m testing in one by Prairie Naturals called Greens force blueberry. It has many of the same ingredients as the greens+ with some additions like berry extracts of blueberry, , bilberry, elderberry, and acerola. Another uniquie ingredient found in this product is Larch Arabinogalactan which has been shown to have a powerfully positive effect on the gut flora. Other things you can find in this product are Norwegian Kelp, green papaya juice, grape seed extract, and green tea extract. The biggest thing going for this product is the taste. It’s probably one of the best tasting formulas I’ve every had and is sweetened with stevia as well. For this fact, I highly recommend it because it’s a product that even people that don’t like greens or most types of dried powders can enjoy.

Three other green products that I’ve had need to be mentioned. One is Berry Greens by New Chapters. Their ingredients are solid and so is the company but tends to be on the pricey side. Taste is very good. Another is great choice is a product by a Canadian company named Enerx. They make GreensRX and their claim to fame is that its nutrient density is greater than any other green product available. The grasses that are juiced and used in this formula are grown in an ancient volcanic lake bed over 5000 feet high in the mountains of south-eastern Utah. It is an amazing product in my opinion and is worth a look. The last but definitely not least greens product that I would recommend is SuperFood Plus by Dr. Schulze. I believe this product to have the highest quality ingredients with no fillers, or any other ingredient added just to make an appearance on the label. This stuff is potent and smells and tastes green puke. It’s for this reason I only recommend it for the people with iron clad stomaches.

Kevin, I’m sad to admit that I haven’t tried your greens formula as of yet but I’m sure I’ll will eventually. I also have not tried the Ormus greens and I’m quite interested in trying both.

I hope this review has added to the quality of the information on the site and has helped a few more people venture into the world of greens.

My question for Kevin is what do you know about phosphatides (lecithin) and how do you feel about it being the main ingredient in many green formulas?

    Much Love and support,

    Jordan Lidster

Changing the world through education, not medication
I hope this lengthy post will have helped some people choose other quality formulas

The only kind of green powder I have tried is Emerald Balance, so I can’t compare it to anything else. My body craves it and it tastes great in just water.
Kevin, I am shocked! Diet soda? Mixing up some green powder with posion does’nt make much sense to me.
I think a show on you both testing your PH balance and talking more about that would be great. I am pretty confused about all of that right now, especially since my tests show I am 6.5, yikes!

I prefer Green Vibrance, which is loaded with all kinds of superfoods, as well as enzymes, pro-biotics, herbs, etc.

Also, it uses juice powders of wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, etc. Juicing these greens first removes some of the excess fiber, resulting in a more concentrated product.

Some other products use wheat grass powder, not wheat grass juice powder, so you get a lot of extra fiber. Seems to me that if you’re paying a lot of money for a green powder, you don’t want to have a lot of fiber in there.

Because Green Vibrance is concentrated, it does not taste very good. It is very green and has a lot of algae and seaweeds in it, so the taste is too strong for most people. I mix mine with orange juice or add it to a smoothie so it tastes better.

The other good thing about Green Vibrance is that it is cheaper than most other products. A 24 ounce bottle retails for about $70 at the Vitamin Shoppe, and it is often on sale.

So you get a strong dose of greens and other superfoods at a good price. You just have to figure out a way to drink it, besides just adding water.

I also add freshly ground chia seeds to my Green Vibrance and orange juice combination. A great way to start the day.

Just started drinking Vitamineral Green, which I like. I had no idea that there were so many quality choices on the market-I don’t live in the US so what I hear through the grapevine, I try to acquire.

I would love another show on green powders where maybe you can compare the items that people are mentioning on this post and explain the prose, cons, and what’s best.

The choices are more or less repeating themselves so it would be worthwhile to find out clearly what is what.

Isagenix Greens! and Juice Plus Garden Blend. I often mix them together and drink them either in filtered water or in a smoothie or shake. The Isagenix Greens! are a bit on the sweet side from a bit of stevia and xylitol, but the Juice Plus Garden Blend cuts the sweetness and makes it just about right for my taste. A lot of times I even add Barley Max from Hallelujah Acres for added oomph. The Isagenix Greens! are a quick and easy way to get my greens when I am rushed and don’t want to just swallow a capsule of Juice Plus Garden Blend.

I live in an area where it is not easy to get fresh greens on a regular basis so quality, live enzyme powders are essential. I do sprout a variety of organic seeds year round, but I usually end up eating those as a salad or mix them in a green “soup” when I can get fresh organic veggies to chop/mix up together.

Thanks to you and Annmarie for presenting such entertaining and educational programs that are a joy to watch.

We have found that we like spinach for green smoothies and kale for juicing with carrots. Recently we got some dandelion greens and added to our juice and Greg especially found that to be helpful. We usually eat a big salad of mixed greens every day and when we use green powder it is Jordan Rubin’s Perfect Meal, loaded up not only greens, but seeds, sprouts, probiotics and more! We mix it with Alive! protein powder from Nature’s Way to make it more palatable and Chlorella for detoxing of metals, etc.

I’ve only ever tried Vitamineral Green and a wheatgrass powder, neither of which I could drink mixed just with water like you showed with the Revitaphi or Ormus greens. I liked them in smoothies, though. I would like to have one I could just mix quickly in water as a morning breakfast, as using my blender/nut milk bag in the morning is too noisy.

I recently started on Dynamic Greens with Mangosteen from Metagenics. The mint-flavored one is delicious! Metagenics products can only be obtained through a physician. However, I noticed yesterday at the health food store I work at, that there is a very similar product available called Green Energy from Organic Yield. It’s such a great combination of vegetables, superfoods, probiotics, etc. The nutrition label seriously looks almost the same as the Metagenics product, and you can get it online or through a health food store.

At the moment we do not use any green powder. I did in the past and especially when I was pregnant. We love our green juices Hippocrates style with E3live. My taste buds have really changed over the last couple of months when it comes to pure green juices. I haven’t tried yet Vitamineral green and plan to do so. A couple of years ago I used Aim Barley life and I would mix it with vanilla rice milk. Taste was very good. Is this new green product Ormus from the same company than the Sunwarrior Protein powder?

I prefer to use fresh greens in my green smoothie – baby spinach leaves are my favorite – when out of greens, I use Barley Max as I see several others above do. So far, I do this because it is suppose to be good for me, have not yet “craved” it!!!

I love love love Barley Max also. I put it in a shakey cup and shake it up and it comes out all foamy and frothy and tastes really good. Just cant’ gag down any with algae in it.

To answer the question about being too gassy when your drinking the fresh green juices well Dave the raw food Trucker he opens up a few capsules of digestive enzymes and puts them in his green juices and he says it has stopped him from being so gassy. He also adds Barley max to his fresh green juices and he calls it Rocket Fuel.

i’d rather spend my money on real food, it’s a powder and i find it’s difficult to trust it, just like pills.

I’ve only had Vitamineral Green so far, I’m new to the green powder world. I believe my choice was based on your recommendation given this past summer. I usually put it in a smoothie so the taste isn’t so pronounced. I might try these others when my bottle is empty.

Good show. I think the all or nothing mentality can scare and stress people. I know, as I have done it to myself. We need to go easy on ourselves. some improvement is better than no improvement.

I have used Vitamineral Greens by Jameth Sheridan in the past. Also tried a number of others I found on Vitacost.com. I am currently using Dr Schulze’s superfood plus.

    Happy week-end.

My favorite green is spinach, you guys got me started drinking it in smoothies but before that it was my fav veg anyway! raw in salads, sauteed w/garlic… when I ate more raw I liked to marinate collards and kale, sadly that seems like too much work right now.

Green drink wise I currently favor Nanogreens which I do add to my green smoothie… but I have a big place in my heart for Amazing Grass’ chocolate greens because it makes an awesome “ice cream” blended with bananas, cacao nibs, and a little raw almond milk!

A study recently published in JAMA said people who take antioxidant pills have higher mortality rates…I think this proves that we need whole food forms of “supplements” in order for our bodies to truly thrive. Green powders are the vitamins of the future!

So yeah, spread the word…they taste better then they look to the “uninitiated”! Once you’re hooked on a green smoothie, though, any green drink has a Pavlov’s dogs effect….

This show is exactly why I love you guys! Great job! As of now I’m 100% raw vegan and use spirulina powder; otherwise, my favorite greens are kale, collards and spinach. Blessings!

I used to drink Greens Plus. But now I mix Spirulina and Chlorella in my smoothies. I get a lot more for mucho cheaper this way. The already-mixed green powders seem overpriced and don’t give you very much of the goods per tablespoon. These days you can get everything by the pound at many web sites and mix them yourself.

Greens are the answer – to nearly every problem facing humanity. Plant them, eat them, commune with them, they can heal ourselves, our community and our planet. When we finally shift our consciousness and associate the color green with real food we’ll start to salivate whenever you see a healthy plant or weed. And doesn’t that seem like what “normal” should be? Fresh, ripe, raw, organic, whole is the very best.

Greens are the healing revitalizing regenerating food that has been the missing link to great health. I truly know this, having recovered from incurable disease on an 80% leafy green food diet. My favorite green powder is VitaMineral Green, second Greener Grasses, both from HealthForceNutritionals.com. I drink both of these in water and they taste nice. I put Greener Grasses in my fruit juice. I put VitaMineral Green in with my blended salad if I have not had it in water in the day. I would try the Ormus Greens if I could get a trial size.

I have to say the fresh greens to me taste much better than any dried greens I’ve tried. Particularly I remember- vitamineral green when I first transitioned raw which I drank but it did not taste good alone at all and was hard to mix. I like chewing on chlorella tablets and using spirulina in smoothies. I do like stevia so maybe I will give ornomus greens a shot to add but not as a substitute.
