Friday is Q and A day….
So today, I’m going to address if neem oil is really good for your teeth (since many raw fooders want to know what is the best way to care for your teeth), how to find a conscious MD or health practitioner in any state, what’s more important than the food you eat and more.
I also ask for your own success stories with raw foods at the end. Watch the video to see why!
Take a look…
Your question of the day: What had been your own person experience with raw foods and/or chronic illness?

Great show! If Moira is anywhere near Fairfield, IA there are TONS of health practitioners here.
Personally, raw food has helped my health a tremendous amount (but I didn’t have CFS).

I use to have year round allergies, dust mites, pollen, grass etc. At one point I took 2 kinds of meds, but the symptoms never went away. The day I went raw I stopped taking the meds, and my allergies were gone within a week. When I fall of the Raw Food Wagon, my symptoms return. I’ve experienced this a few times, so I know that Raw defenitely works.

hi
I’ve been raw (80-75%)now for almost 4 weeks, and in that short amount of time I have experienced health benefits. Altough, I do not have fatigue syndrome, I did have a drop in my fasting blood sugar, 168 to 122 – not there yet but on it’s way (I am type 2 diabetic). Also my blood pressure has normalized, I was pre-hypertensive. AND, after a one week detox, I have lost 9.6lbs. I love being raw and I will continue my journey!

I used to have IFS & RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) along with digestion & skin problems. About 6 months ago, I started the raw food diet (70-80% raw). Since then, the pain has reduced dramatically. When I added the green juice to my diet, the swelling has also reduced. However, it was when I started to eat a low fat 100% raw vegan diet (the 801010 diet), I gained my energy back. Not only that my IFS is gone, I now have at least 80% of my strength back, my digestion is way better than before and my RA symptoms are largely gone.
I think the raw food diet is great, even if you are not doing 100% raw! It is definitely worth a try.

Hi Kevin,
Would really appreciate a show about using natural foods, herbs, etc for treating ME-CFS. Millions around the world have this sickness and there is no known “cure” so especially helpful if something has helped someone who had ME-CFS and recovered.
Thank you,
OM

I have been ill for over a year with what i thought was a dental issue. I tried neem oil, Dr. Schulz’s tooth prep, many other herbs. i ended up spending thousands to dental specialists, ENT’s, regular medical doc’s and ending up in the ER 5 x’s when my oxycodone didnt’ even relieve the pain and pressure above my tooth and in my head. I actually pulled a perfectly good tooth and when i did it bled a lot and i felt somewhere up in my head was an abscess and once the tooth was out i was well for 1 week, then back to being just as ill. i had small bumps along my cheekbone and swore there were abscesses in there that needed to be drained but noone listened. Nothing got rid of the problem but a few things seemed to keep what i termed “the infection” at bay and that was Echinachea +(richard schulze) and rubbing the area with clove oil. It numbed it temporarily and it would flare worse at certain times.
Then i found this tape, and after thousands of dollars to the medical machine i cured the problem with “salt”…….yes, plain old salt. It turns out it was dental oriented and salt killed the bacteria. Also when i felt better i realized was when i used xylitol as a sweetener. Turns out xylitol will break up the bacteria colonies also. But this audio is by a retired dentist that will tell you why you should be firing your dentist and the medical field does not want you to know this…havent’ we all heard this story before. If anyone is interested the audio is an hour long and does not address much in nutrition, but may surprise you. I did not know i had a periodontal issue (as 75% is invisible and you may not have unhealthy looking gums) as the dentists all ruled that out. But once i brushed with the salt filled toothbrush i started to bleed like crazy! I know this sounds too easy, but it is very true! I hold no affiliation with this Dr. or his website or products. I did switch to the dental tape and i use a WaterPik. He also uses a book/tape called “Money by the Mouthful” This link is to a radio interview he did and in spite of the interviewer not being very good you will find out most of what you need to know to keep your mouth healthy.

My raw food experience:
When not eating lots of raw foods and then adding them, it makes me feel euphoric and greatly improves my health.
If I”m on raw foods for a long time and have actively tried to eliminate cooked foods, or eat only raw foods because that’s what sounded good, my health usually declines, feeling a touch more lethargic of mind, body, and spirit.
For me the good balance is like 50-50 in mass (raw-cooked) and like 20-80 calorically.

Once you find the right practitioner, how do you prioritize what type of alternative blood tests to receive since there are so many on DirectLabs.com? Since you always recommend taking test to know how well your supplements are working and what you may need to take that you aren’t already. What are the most critical test?

Hey Kev– thanks for your info– I’m a daily watcher and I LOVE your show!
I’m looking for a good source of Vit D for me and my family during these short, cold winter months. I’ve looked a those lamps but I’m not sure what I should do. Is that a good option or do you have another suggestion?
Also, I’ve noticed that my 2 yr old gets dark circles under here eyes and I’m concerned. I keep her on the best nutrition I can (I can’t make her eat anything if you know what I mean), but I’m wondering if there might be some kind of suppliment or special food that I can sneak in that I can give her to help with that.
Thanks!

Fortunately, I had no diagnosed health condition when I began eating 100% raw last July. What I’ve been battling most of my life, since age 5, is carrying excess weight. Despite lots of exercise, I was unable to get to goal weight. About 2 months ago I started drinking restructured, ionized, alkaline, anti-oxidant water. Finally in combination with a living foods diet, I am losing weight easily. People are noticing. What a great feeling!

Within 3 weeks I started a 100% RAW food lifestyle, lost 85 pounds, gained my health and strength back, my sanity returned. My skin conditions have even improved. I owe my second chance at life to the RAW FOOD Lifestyle!

Hi Devorah
)) some of the raw food oldies talk about this phase. But I feel great, I always was dieting to keep my weight down and now I indulge in good fats and loose weight !!!! heaven
))))
I suffer since 17 years from CFS but was diagnosed only 5 years ago when I crashed totally. I started with hormone treatment than high dosed green powder from Keith Herb shop what helped a lot – after 6 month of taking it I could walk again. (I was bedridden for 2 years) than I started to detox with several alternative treatments (very difficult to go through I had to take it slow but it helped).
About one year ago I started with Green Smoothies and felt an improvement – I started the raw food journey, 70 to 80 % raw most of the time but did not have much improvements any more. Just recently I did the Matrix Transformation Assesment Profile and was told that my main issue besides compromised Mitochondria function and acidity (very typical for CFS) was my digestive system. So I could not assimilate all the good stuff I was eating!!!
so now I use Oxypowder from the Global Health Center regulary, take their Lateroflora Probioticum, take HCL while eating and Pancreaticum ( a homeophatic remedy) after eating) – I was told lack of enzymes are not my problem so I do not take them right now. I am making great improvements since and my strength is growing.
although my fatigue did not respond to the raw food before treating my colon I still had improvements concerning my strong food cravings and constant hunger – finally I could eat as much as I wanted without gaining weight immediately and this was such a relief in itself. I guess I was constantly undernourished because of my compromised digestion and the Smoothies and Spirulina and other Supplements helped to get at least “some” nourishment through.
Well you have to be like a detective in discovering your body and path to health
raw food was not an instant fix but I feel it is definitely the right path for me and I am constantly experimenting – I am just now in my high fat and lots of nuts phase
but in the first half year of eating raw I could not digest fat, got nausea from it and gained a little bit of weight from eating nuts, so I tried to stay away from them. I feel like on a journey where my body is the guide and I lean back and allow myself to be surprised of where it guides me next
wow that was a long one…hope that helps
please feel free to contact me if you or your friend have more questions, I did lots of things and treatments that I felt are supportive on your way from CFS to health, it is definitely possible – sanjula@web.de

Hi Kevin, great advice about job and relationships – boy oh boy did I get in a big trap by avoiding what I do with my life. I recently spent about 18months in the ‘once I am 100% raw I will do x, y and z’ and also the ‘once I am raw my life will be fantastic’ traps. AAAAAAHHHH. They are very dangerous. I was using all the hope and miracle stories of the raw lifestyle as a MASSIVE distraction from getting on with my life. Not good. Now, although I am still on my journey of improving my diet bit by bit, I am committed to facing up to the issues I need to address…issues that no amount of raw food books, lectures and recipes will solve!!! Until I am more on track your show is the only raw foodie thing I am allowed to watch, lol!!!! Thanks for another great show x

A 50% Raw diet has been a great way to cleans out toxins from my body by freeing me from stress and igniting my digestive fire;although, I know that only the best effects will be felt from fresh organically produced fruits and vegetables. This is one thing that my diet could get a lot more of, but I only have access very limited selection of organic produce in the winter where I am currently living in Michigan.
My goal would be like 80%, but I probably wont achieve that until I move out to the west cost where local organic farmers markets are more active in the communities, So for now I will stick with my sprouts dried fruits and vegetables, and inferior fresh products from the local store. And order my nuts, seeds, herbal extracts online.
I’ve also just started supplementing with Indian adaptogenic herbs they really help balance me out.
I use to have chronic sickness, but ever since I have started alkalizing my body with positive foods and thoughts my body does not crash like it did before my awakening.
(Organic, fair trade) The only way to nourish souls and the planet)

Can you please give a suggestion for what I can do to help this tennis elbow I’ve been dealing with for 4 months now.
I’d really appreciate some advice or direction.
Also still waiting for Anne Marie’s toner and cleanser. It’s been 2 weeks since I ordered. I do live in Canada. I got my cousin Carmen to order some last night too.
Thank you!

I want to suggest to anyone looking for a naturopath, try looking into any local natural foods stores. They often have information posted and sometimes even have Dr’s that may come and do visits. That is how I found my current Dr, and she’s better than the last 2 natural Dr’s I had visited.
I do well on 80% raw in the summer(100% some weeks but not long term), but only about 60% in the winter. However the other 40% is all local or home cooked produce(I tried the vegan route, NOT a plan for my body so now I do local sourced dairy and meat). In the winter I also drink MANY herbal teas and I always use tons of spices in all my cooking year round. That has helped my allergies and immune system overall(which is great since I work in a school but haven’ caught anything in years from the students or staff).

I have something inexplainable in my head, that shoots me from great highs to severe lows, and a general feeling of confusion/frustration/insanity. ha. I was diagnosed bi-polar, general anxiety disorder, depression, a.d.d. and I saw it almost completely vanish from my life when I started eating 100% raw. I started in the second week of january this year, and the high lasted about 6 months, and then I got used to it and just have felt awesome since then, and I can feel those same dreaded “demons” or whatever coming back at me but the difference now is that I feel like they can only get somewhat close to me where I can tell that it’s threatening, and I have the strength now to fend it off. I guess I could sum it up in one word: SECURITY. something i haven’t known in quite a while. I’m mega passionate about how eating raw has changed my life, and it’s sort of this ongoing discovery and journey as I find out things like too much cacao or nuts doesn’t settle well with me, whereas I can eat tons of greens and just feel better than ever.

Lori, my mother was a civilian during WWII in Manila. She told me decades ago that a friend of hers during that time got a terrible infection, so she took salt and rubbed it in his wound. It was painful for him, she said, but after she did that, the infection diminished, and the would healed. There’s something about salt! I think it draws out fluids…

Great show, Kevin… and thank you so much for answering my question.
As far as healing from illnesses with raw food: I overcame my struggle with Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) by eating a raw, whole-food, vegan diet. After eight months of being 99.9% raw and 100% vegan, the ultrasound showed none of the “string of pearl” cysts that had been there for years before. On top of that, the myriad of other symptoms related to PCOS faded within just three months of going raw. Other minor health issues were also cleared up by my lifestyle change, as well. I am now blessed with vibrant health beyond my wildest dreams, as well as a sense of peace and clarity that is beyond beautiful.
May you, Devora, and yours find the same liberation and love.

i’m 45 yrs old i spent 32 yrs as a drunk in and out of prisons and not to mention all the hard drugs.a little over a yr ago i had a health issue that turned my life around.i have’nt seen a doctor in over 10 yrs, mainly because i could’nt afford the insurance.and in my opinion the only time you need a doctor is when you have a accident or a broken bone. you can heal and diagnose yourself, and all you have to do is read karl lorens library and understand about the free radical therory, well between the oral chealation and msm and eating raw fruits and vegtabels,i’m feeling better and people tell me i’m looking better too.its all about detoxing your body.and there are alot of good ways to detox your body, not just one way.now i’m starting to get into the law of attraction and all i can say is wow!! ok for your teeth,i’ve have 4 cavitys(from when i was young) and all i’ve done is brush my teeth with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and both cost less than $1.50 but everybody talks about all these expensive products, well i come from hard knox,i want the inexpensive stuff that does just as good or better for you.p.s remember hydrogen peroxide kills germs, bacteria and viruses on contact.

As a vegan who exercises on a pretty regular basis, I felt like I could predict the answer to your first question regarding the ‘complete answer’ to health. “Of course”, I thought, “it has to be a clean, plant-based diet and exercise.” I was humbled and emotionally walloped when you said the two most powerful things you can adjust for your health are to work on your relationships and your job. For someone who looks to be ‘living the healthy life’, I have felt more unsettled and had more instances of back problems; and I can honestly say, my satisfaction with my job and relationships are completely out of sync with where I would like to be spiritually and emotionally. Thank you for that wake-up call.

Great show, Kevin. I liked your firm, direct, “hard-hitting” but sensitive style showing that you do genuinely care for the people you are serving.
Do you think that many nutrients are lost by DEHYDRATING food? I recently purchased an Excalibur to preserve as much of my summer produce (and food deals from the grocery store) as possible. Among the things I have dehydrated are beet greens, lettuce, and apples. Lately I have been making green smoothies from those. Not as good as fresh, of course, but it’s what I have. What do you think?
I have been hearing about magnesium recently, and think it might be just what my daughter needs because she doesn’t sleep at night, has leg cramps a lot, and says her heart beats crazily. Could you perhaps do a program on magnesium–gel, crystals, capsules, whatever.
Thanks so much,
Connie

Hello everyone,
My experience with raw food is at first was fatigued that was because my body was craving sugars. A little while latter ( almost 10 days )
my energy pick up. That is because you body has switched fuels from sugars to electricity (salts, sprouts, very fresh green leafy veggies, ph water, non sugar fruits like lemon, lime which turn to alkaline in your stomach, Broc. avocados and good oils are all a neg field.) These all have high alkaline content and is a very good fuel source. I also lost any pain that came with, eating acidic foods. When you crave sugar your body really wants salts, (not table salt!), Real salt. These foods have been tested with Killians camera, which have shown sparks array of lights which shows it’s electrical potential.

And yes, I’m recovering from chronic illness (arthritis, clinical depression) with the help of a plant-based, high raw, organic diet. My husband was insulin-dependent for 6 years with Type II Diabetes and about a year ago, he was having severe pains in the general vicinity of his kidneys. He was wondering out loud what was in the insulin and how it might be harming him. I searched the internet and found that the preservative in the insulin had a terrible list of side-effects. These included KIDNEY FAILURE! He knew from previous experiments with eating raw that it would greatly lower his blood sugar so we returned to a mosly raw diet with intentions to make it a lifestyle this time. Next month we will celebrate his being insulin-free for 1 year!! Raw Food Rawks! Thanks, Kevin, for all your great information. Look forward to watching your video every day!

I haven’t had the massive weight loss that others talk about…but do feel better when eating mostly raw. I had/have no chronic health issues other than being overweight which will continue be a lifetime challenge. Eating raw fits more into my life choices and I do feel more energetic – when I eat cooked food and SAD “goodies” with family and friends, I can feel the difference right away – so when I get home it is back to raw!

There are so many out there with such issues it would be great to know some more indepth info. Seeing that I have been around many with such situations in life.
Thanks a million

yeah i have been around and currently have many friends with mental issues, seemingly un-overcomeable, and seeing the incredible aid raw foods has given me has made me so pumped to see them throw more raw into their diets, because if it could even do a little bit of what it did for me I would be so stoked! This is when I get mega passionate about folks being humble with their raw food diets, instead of “enlightened” or all about super expensive and weird (to most people eating standard american diets) foods instead of more practical, cheaper, and simpler foods that most people can relate to. My dad asked me if the way I ate was safe, for one example. I quickly explained how eats raw too when he eats a banana or an apple. I am really into gently introducing things and really throwing out labels and seeing how people can adapt parts into their lifestyle. I made an olive oil/nama shoyu/ginger/garlic dressing and got my frozen dinner/pizza, mac & cheese rommate to dip ARUGULA! in it and he loved it and then I asked him if he wanted half my salad, which was a big plate of those two things and an avocado, and he loves it and then he asked me if we could have zuchinni pasta with a homemade raw marinara some night! If I can eat with him a few times a week this way, it rules so hard because it makes him feel good and it makes me feel good, from the food like it normally would if I ate it alone, but also from my heart swelling with happiness!
That was long, sorry, but I am just very honed in on a mission of presenting real fresh foods to people in applicable ways in hopes it can aid them in their mental or physical stresses in life. I am so interested of others’ ideas on this topic and others’ struggles to help friends, family, strangers, themselves… It’s such a constant learning process, and i’m into it!

Another way to find a naturopatic doctor in your area is to contact a compounding pharmacy and ask them if there is any doctor that is ordering natural products made for their patients. This is how I found one. I also have fibromyalgia and I have found that a raw diet definitely does help. Another thing that helped me is to go gluten free. A woman in our local raw group told me that she could tell a difference when she also started using natural or distilled water instead of chemicalized tap water. PS. Love your shows.
