Kevin Gianni is a health author, activist and blogger. He started seriously researching personal and preventative natural health therapies in 2002 when he was struck with the reality that cancer ran deep in his family and if he didn’t change the way he was living — he might go down that same path. Since then, he’s written and edited 6 books on the subject of natural health, diet and fitness. During this time, he’s constantly been humbled by what experts claim they know and what actually is true. This has led him to experiment with many diets and protocols — including vegan, raw food, fasting, medical treatments and more — to find out what is myth and what really works in the real world.

Kevin has also traveled around the world searching for the best protocols, foods, medicines and clinics around and bringing them to the readers of his blog RenegadeHealth.com — which is one of the most widely read natural health blogs in the world with hundreds of thousands of visitors a month from over 150 countries around the world.

  1. Hey Kevin,

Cool show. I’ve read about EFT a number of years ago but never took the time to explore it any further. I have heard a number of very positive responses from friends and acquaintances about EFT but it just never appealed enough to me to give it a good go. I’ll have to give it a chance now and report back.

PS I’m looking forward to your (hopeful) response to some of the questions brought up in yesterdays forum.

    Cheers,

    Jordan

  2. Nicole says:

I had acute jaw pain for a couple years and looked into EFT to help relieve it. I think EFT has merit, but I don’t think I did it very well, so stopped practicing. I think if I had a specialist work through it with me it might be more helpful, but it ended up being one of those things where you “guess” it helps, or “maybe” you feel better. I won’t dismiss it, and maybe I’ll try it again, but for now I prefer going to the local Chinese traditional medicine clinic, as I can notice results more. Great interview!

  3. nick says:

I used EFT for lower backpain & it worked & I have seen it work for food cravings on some friends its a great technique !!

  4. Vita says:

l have practiced EFT for 3 years now. lt works! lt’s a combination of acupressure on energy meridians and NLP (neuro linguistic programming). With EFT l have helped many friends eliminate health problems that did not respond to any other methods. lt is easier to do with someone who knows the process. Gary Craig (who developed EFT) gives away all the information for free at emofree.com
l would be happy to help if you have any questions… email me at Vitasaysyes@gmail.com.
l get email updates from Nick, he’s good.

  5. Robert says:

I’ve tried it many times over the past few weeks and it has worked. I’m still going through the EFT Manual, 6th Edition from http://www.emofree.com by Gary Craig.
Procrastination holds me back from time to time, but I’ll get to it later. Heh, Heh!
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Alicia says:

This is very interesting will have to do some research on this. I have never heard of it before. Great show.

  7. Dede says:

EFT tapping works sooo well for me. It’s so simple, you really can’t do it “wrong”. When my focus is clear,by the time I get to my collarbone on the first round – the emotion is practically released. If I’m more caught up in the moment, it might take a few rounds. I’ll have to say – it still amazes me each time it works. It worked the very first time I tryed it 4yrs ago – and it worked equally well this very afternoon :-). Great info, Kevin..thanks!! Dede
Oh – and yep – I done it in public plenty of times, altho I skip the under arm one then :-) – but I never skip the top of my head – love to hear that thud, thud, thud on the top of my head :-).

  8. Heyward says:

If Jack Canfield endorses ONE MORE person’s book or film, I am going to….sigh….I am going to do a tapping session on it.

“Even though Jack Canfield endorses more products than I think he should, I choose to relax….” tap tap tap…

  9. john says:

Hi Kevin : Its true, we do have meridian points at specific targeted sights on our bodies as the chinese have proven extraordinary feats even to the point of removing a large part of a ladies skull while she was fully awake and conscience with eyes open and alert and she was smiling and would say yes or no blinking with her eyes all the while with probes being experimentally stuck around various points in her brain ,all the while was given NO I said NO DRUGS or any pain medication of any kind. All that was done was they closed off various meridian points on her body using needles ,so that all pain was completely closed OFF. The chinese are real masters at this art as well as placing small light bulbs on the body on meridian points and the light would light up. I have seen a video of this some years ago. But I have to respectfully disagree with your friend Nick for addressing ones personnel issues or problems by tapping ,this appears to be a distraction of ones self . Though I have not seen any scientific basis of this tapping or the specifics on how it actually works on the body I would be suspect of it and would classify and categorize it as NEW AGE thinking which can lead into the occult etc. .When I have a problem of whatever, I tap into the word of GOD and pray and confess etc. as GOD HIMSELF commands us to,for WHATEVER it may be that hurts us ,fears ,doubts ,frustrations ,upsets us ,etc. We are to turn to JESUS and not our selfs for our psychological problems/or sins.We are to confess to JESUS all our cares and troubles, Praying to JESUS is FREE any time you choose.Thank you Kevin.

  10. Gerardo says:

EFT worked for me:area? remove fear of darkness.

  11. Jill says:

I’ve heard of EFT and have actually signed up for Gary Craig’s newsletter. I just need to take the time to read what he sends lol. Procrastination is DEFINITELY what is holding me back the most (on a lot of things)

  12. Mary says:

    Hi Kevin,
Thanks for another terrific and educational show. You and Nick were friends in second grade…amazing. Nick’s program last summer introduced me to the many ways I could tap for myself. I am glad your readers an begin learning too. I copied your blog and put it on my twttr blog wih links etc. I also added it to Stumbleupon, and my facebook page. Hope a few more hundred will come to your sites. Sincerely,
    Mary MacIntyre

  13. Jill says:

Hi again, I just requested the free ebook…and I wanted to say that I tapped along with the video and in my face I felt this huge burst of relaxation (when the under eye area was being tapped) it sort of tickled and I can still feel a sort of sensation in my face…pretty cool!

  14. Amanda Thompson says:

Wanted to share this fun video with Kevin, Annmarie, and everyone out there…note the kids are kinda big!

It’s the new You Tube video “The Raw Food Kids” from the Boutenko’s. Here’s the link:

  15. Hethir says:

I used EFT in preparation for a plane trip across country and it worked wonders. My fear of flying was gone and I actually thought it was fun to take off and land!

  16. lynda says:

Kevin..you know Nick..my two worlds have now melted into one!!! Two years ago I was taught EFT during a therapy session and began to practice the system of letting go of old negative thoughts and replace them with new positive thoughts. A year ago I hosted a screening of his film and those who attended found it interesting and useful information.
I’d like to address John’s statement above..EFT isn’t what you believe it is a way to practice your beliefs..christian or buddist..person of faith or not..it is about restoring your mind the way raw foods restore the body. God, however you relate to him, believes you are wonderful, creative and worthy..eft is a way of giving back to you what others may have taken away thru thoughtless comments or hurtful actions. At the end of the day it is about choice. I am grateful for Nick and Jessica Ortner for stepping out in faith to bring all of us another pathway to healing.

  17. Veronika says:

Awesome! I’ve been doing the tapping on my own without “knowing” the specific meridians – I was using my intuition. I would notice energy/emotions built up in a certain place, and I would tap on it to release. The crown of my head is the one that gets tapped the most. =)

My one thing holding me back is: FEAR (of judgment, failing, etc.). It’s interesting because it only affects particular areas of my life, not all the time. Most of the time I’m pretty fearless, but in a few areas I just feel stuck.

I just did the tapping exercise, and I found the statement “I deeply and completely accept myself” really helped me relax, and I could more easily imagine myself taking the next step toward success b/c I was less scared of doing it “perfectly”. I realized that whatever happens on my path is how I chose it to be.

  18. Kirstin says:

Thank you for this show on EFT. A friend recommended tapping to me about a year ago and I downloaded the manual from Gary Craig’s website. Since then, everything I’ve tried it on has improved: sore throats, headaches, motivation, etc.

Most dramatically, was the almost instant relief it gave to tantrumming children! It has taken both of my munchkins from off the scale in terms of intensity to fast asleep in less than 90 seconds. Now they ask for tapping whenever they are bothered by something, sad about something or can’t fall asleep at bedtime.

    Great show, as ever!

  19. Leam says:

Thanks for sharing this – I tapped along with you and felt really good afterwards. We were created with these wonderful, complex bodies and we just need to “tap” into it’s possibilities…I don’t think this takes anything away from our Creator.

  20. What is holding me back is habit.
At noon I want chew-food. Thus have never been able to juice feast.
At 6 p.m. I want wine and salty crunchies. Thus my weight must be closely monitored.
I would love to be free from these time-centered cravings, plus some negative thoughts I have never conquered. I will try this tapping and see.
Oh, morning smoothies have freed me from coffee cravings, after 45 years of never missing a morning java. Now on to lunch and dinner.

  21. Toni Kaste says:

Dealing with lots of stress right now, so thanks from the bottom of my heart for posting this. I am going to incorporate this technique into my life!

  22. Debbie says:

Thank you so much for featuring EFT. I have been using EFT for over 2 years and this weekend actually I finish my course and will be a practitioner at 5:00pm this Sunday! I have used EFT on myself and others with amazing results. I have worked with other practitioners as well. I worked with my friend’s son on ADD and now his school and psychologist agree that he does not have ADD and will not need medication, that was such a great feeling for me and his parents. I also used it to help another friend’s son with dyslexia, now he has no dyslexia and reads with confidence. He was so proud of himself and my heart was just so happy for him. I have used EFT to get rid of food cravings as well and my husband used EFT to quit cigarette smoking, it has now been over a year and a half for my husband and not 1 cigarette, no cravings either. I am so grateful to EFT for all it has done for me and recommend it to everyone. You can get the free manual from Gary Craig’s website and use it on your own. If you are not sure you are doing it right you can search for a practitioner in your area on his website as well. But really if you keep practicing on your own, you’ll get it. http://www.emofree.com.
Thanks Kevin, for talking about EFT.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  23. Debbie says:

Also, want to mention I have seen Nick & Jessica Ortner’s version and a short film they did and it is GREAT. Thank you for bringing Nick on the show to demonstrate. He does a great job!

  24. Alissa says:

I saw a presentation on tapping by Nick two weeks ago in California with an audience of 700! It was my first time hearing of this technique and here it is again on your show. It’s a reminder that I should experiment with this. Thanks!

  25. Shelby says:

    Amazing.
Yesterday, one of my patients thriving with cancer mentioned that she has been ‘tapping’ (I was not familiar with this technique).
Later in the day I received Alex Ortner’s newsletter… about The Tapping Solution.
And this morning, here you are interviewing Nick on the technique.
    There are no coincidences!

Yesterday I looked at the Tapping Solution website and found it interesting… but not enough to order the DVD. Seeing Nick interviewed today made it more personal and I am now really interested in exploring this further. Thank you for the demo!

  26. Nadia says:

I use tapping all the time. I find it a very instinctive and natural way to communicate with our inner selves and to bring us back to a place of balance. It is another way to reinforce our intentions. I do it in public all the time, I say the sentences in my head and don’t always tap on all the points if I am in public. It’s fun and no one really cares what you are doing. Everyone is usually so caught up in their own drama that they hardly notice what I am doing. And if they do it is forgotten in the next moment so no worries about standing out.
    Thanks for the show.
    Nadia

  27. Elecia says:

I used EFT 3 years ago when having anxiety along with physical pain when thinking of getting pregnant again. I had one miscarriage at 14 weeks and then a very painful ectopic pregnancy. I prayed fervently that if this technique would help me. I did 2 or 3 sessions of the EFT on different topics related to the miscarriages and immediately the physical pain was gone and I was exhausted. I fell asleep and woke up never to have the pain or anxiety again. We got pregnant a few months later and I have a wonderful little boy now. I need to use it more often on more topics…especially the emotional eating…Thanks for the reminder.

  28. Sherry says:

I find that EFT doesn’t work that well for me.
It has only worked for a short time. I have used it on pain, depression, bad life experiences but it only lasted for a short time each time I used it. Self hypnoses works better for me.

  29. alice says:

Thank you for finally doing a show on EFT, one of my favorite things in the whole world! EFT has completely changed my life for the better. I discovered it about 9 months ago and do it almost everyday, sometimes for hours. I would like to advise people who aren’t having lasting success to maybe go to an EFT practitioner (you can find a list on emofree.com) What I’ve found is when things won’t get healed completely there is a reason it is there and it won’t disappear completely until that reason has been addressed. It can be pretty abstract. I have had many, many experiences of memories coming up (during tapping) that I had previously repressed or dismissed as not that important. But when the underlying trauma was addressed the physical pain or situation in my life cleared up. I take the attitude that everything that has showed up in my life is a blessing and that “there is only God in this situation” that seems to shift the energy enough so that I can “see” what the blessing is, in other words, what needs to be healed.

Don’t give up on EFT if you aren’t getting immediate results, this stuff works miracles!
I would also recommend getting the DVD’s from emofree.com. They are very profound and can help the beginner to dig up things in themselves that need to be healed.

    Happy healing!!!

  30. angela says:

Wow! I receive newsletters from both of you and had no idea you grew up together! I have seen Nick’s sister, Jessica, but have never seen Nick. Um, really, really cute ;) sorry, just had to say that! Back to tapping, honestly, the only thing that has worked to relieve emotional pain, whether it’s about insecurity, anger, fear, anxiety, etc., doesn’t matter, tapping gives me immediate relief!

  31. alice says:

PS. Jesus said “you will know them by their fruits”

How can something which is helping people be wrong in Jesus’ eyes? It doesn’t make sense!
    Jesus was a healer too!

  32. Roberta says:

Just thrilled that all these wise minds are here in my home state of CT! It is truly the Celestine Prophecy coming together. I am finishing a one year hypnotherapist program and incorporating EFT into my new practice. I truly have seen it work on everything! The power of intention and the body’e energy can create miraculous results. It really is a small world after all. Thank you!

  33. esther says:

Wow that was great Kevin and Nick!! I haven’t done much work on my meridians so that was a real treat for me! I have a pretty sensitive system as it responds quickly things. I felt a blood rush down to my toes from doing the tapping for the first time. Thanks so much for the info. I’ll check out the website now!

    cheers,
    esther

  34. Sharon says:

Great show. EFT completely eliminated my worst craving over 2 years ago and it hasn’t come back.

Regarding the emotional things and why EFT doesn’t work long term for some people. As Nick mentioned sometimes we crave foods because we’re depleted in certain nutrients. It’s the same with other health issues. We may be really depleted of a substance our brain or our nerves need and then the EFT will only give temporary relief. EFT is not a cure-all.

When I had severe PMS due to my hormones not being broken down in my liver, EFT really helped to preserve me (and my family!) alive but next month the problem would be back again. When I detoxified my liver properly and got the heavy metals out of my body I never needed to EFT for PMS again because the underlying cause was gone.

The liver is the seat of our emotions and a really dirty liver will contribute to emotional issues. Especially raw foodists who are in a constant state of detox can risk liver overload if their bodies contain toxins.

EFT is fantastic for any kind of stress. If you’re in the middle of a senseless & stressful conversation, excuse yourself and go to the bathroom and do a round of EFT. When you come back you can deal with it much better. We can’t always avoid a boss or family member! EFT simply calms things down so we can be rational.

  35. Britt says:

My high anxiety over falling behind in school is actually holding me back from catching up…and possibly causing me to fall behind even further. I’m going to work through this with EFT right now! Good video! when I started tapping my face along with you guys, I felt this weird release of tension in my forehead.

  36. KC says:

What is holding me back? I have no clear vision of what it is I want, nor where I want to be. When I start to think about it, I find that no, that isn’t really me. Or I’ll say to myself, yes, that would be nice, but it isn’t a burning desire. Where is my passion? Where is my burning desire?

  37. David says:

I was learning about EFT years ago, long before I started learning about raw foods. I got Gary Craig’s DVDs and got some benefit from them, but after a while I started to be a bit uncomfortable with how regimented Craig’s EFT approach really is. I watched several YouTube videos about EFT and I learned techniques from the videos I liked.I will never forget just how awesome it felt the first time EFT really started working for me, and I used it to help me work through old issues that had been holding me back.

The sit tapping.com has some good videos. I got Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine book, which I totally love. I recently got a DVD set from Eden, just so I could get her information from a slightly different angle. I use Donna Eden’s energy medicine techniques almost every day and EFT every other day. EFT is an energy medicine technique, and the two really have a fundamental common basis. ‘Even though’ Gary Craig deserves a lot of credit for bringing EFT to lots of people, his approach itself is a bit restrictive, and I completely accept myself (just joking..). Check out Donna Eden – she has some great YouTube videos. If you’re serious about growing emotionally – whether just getting older and wiser in a beautifully graceful way – and/or need to overcome old issues/wounds – the energy medicine/EFT techniques can be a big part of your overall self-care and health regimen. Look after your mind!

Hope this is a helpful post for folks,

    David
