Joe Kasper’s technique really works. I was the living foods institute in July and after looking at his technique I tried it out when I was back home with some free weights. Best Exercise I’ve had in a long time!

What holds me back most right now is the uncertainty that I am doing the right thing, whether it’s career, or health, etc.

Right now, Joe! I’m doing the exercises with y’all on the video! Got my green band…

I like his approach, but I find his website way to confusing and gimmicky.

When I saw it was band exercises, I ran and got my band and followed along. Thanks for this! I was feeling a little bored with my current strength training routine and not feeling motivated to do it. The idea of slow movement not excessive reps. is interesting.

Thanks. Please do more shows like this one. I have bands but don’t know what to do with them — that’s what’s holding me back. Not knowing what to do. I’ve done Curves and got incredibly bored with it. I would like to learn somthing simple like this that you don’t have to pay membership fees to do.

Great, great show. I like Joe Kasper a lot. Nice workout method. Go Slow. Best I’ve ever seen! Thank you.

I’m going to get healthier now!

Slow movement to eliminate momentum…the “5/5 cadence” combined with a lot of rest in between workouts works AMAZINGLY well. I first heard of this in Tim Ferris’ infamous blog post “From Geek to Freak.” http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/29/from-geek-to-freak-how-i-gained-34-lbs-of-muscle-in-4-weeks/

He’s turning it into a book and Kev, it’s right up your alley…especially the part where he says “I’ve put my vegetarian friends through the program, too.”

Intriguing idea, but why does he have so many health problems? He said rotator cuff, 5 knee surgeries… Do I want his opinion?

ugh nothing with the morning strength training three days a week, tennis practice everyday and 2 and a half mile afternoon runs twice a week. Thank god we have free wknds :)

    @Kate

Pro athletes tend to get banged up. That’s why he went for this lifestyle…he went raw in order to feel better, and devised a slow, methodical workout regimen for the same reason. I met him in person (May, 2008) and his muscles were impressive. If you don’t want to bulk up, you can always do high rep, low resistance. I’m currently doing p90x and would love some company…

Slow movement, particularly emphasizing the negative portion of reps, is extremely useful but… well, I could go on for hours. Maybe it’s enough to say that we don’t live our lives in slow motion and it’s highly important to safely and gradually build up an ability to move explosively with balance.

I mean what say you slip on ice or even have to make a burst to catch a train. Not banging on Joe here but it’s important to look at the bigger picture.

I’m digging my bands out of the closet and getting started NOW!
I never quite knew what to do with them, either.

I’ve an elastic band and have been training with it for a while.. still, he gave me some good ideas..Too bad his product is so expensive!

It’s good to see alternate ideas for using bands(especially since they travel well)as well as any type exercise/movement ideas. Slow and controlled stretches and exercises, using a variety of bands, balls of different sizes and just my own body weight has really made a difference for me in this past year or so. I feel more toned and strong, especially my core, than I have in years (and I’ve been faithful to exercising of some type for over 25 years) The body is pretty amazing, it just needs to keep moving!

Nice! I’ve had a blue resistance band sitting in my room for at least a couple of years without any use, because I wasn’t confident in how to use it. This looks something I could do!

    Hi Kev:

This is encouraging. I like this guy and the way he has positioned his workout. It reminded me of the band work I did at Jazzercise. It works.

I love the ones demonstrated. I would like to see more band work as well.

I worked out everyday until July. I injured my left arm and need to have it looked at. I’ve never had an injury. I have felt some relief with massage, however my range of motion is poor and I feel pain when putting on my shirts or reaching backwards and sidewards. I need to get it checked out.

I feel like I can do this band exercise slowly.

Thanks for showing this video, it’s a workout that you can do anywhere and at any age !

I especially liked Joe’s website where you can take him out of the box and put him back in !

Thanks Kevin and Annemarie for bringing us Joe. This totally makes sense. Kind of like combining weight strength trainning with Ti Chi. I’m going to incorporate some of these at work during my breaks. So simple but challenging.

Kevin, I would like to see some excercises that one can do sitting in a chair. These could be excercises one can do at work and/or if some has a physical limitation and is unable to get down on the floor or unable to stand for any length of time.

    Thanks!

I love Joe’s technique of going slow with the exercises. For the question of the day though, what’s holding me back is that I don’t have enough energy to exercise, but his method seems awesome and I’m going to check out his website!
    Thanks for another great show!

I really enjoyed this show and will definitely check out Joe’s website. This looks like the perfect alternative to weight training which causes me quite a bit of pain due to rheumatoid arthritis in my lower spin. I already have a purple and a blue band at home so I am looking forward to trying this method of strength building and will also look in to doing some water running as well.

Many thanks to the host, guest and commentators. What Joe says make sense! Another technique to create muscle confusion when also using free weights etc AND a great portable system! Thanks Brother, and to answer the question, ZIP, NOTHING,I’M DOING IT RIGHT NOW!
STAY RAW and be a living beacon my brothers and sisters!

Inertia is what is holding me back.

I liked this show. Good ideas for the bands. I don’t have any but will look for some. Suggestions on where to purchase the bands would have been helpful to add.

Fitness days: Using exercise bands just doesn’t SOUND like a show I want to watch but I’m glad I did.

    Thanks.
