The best "thing" that showed up on my doorstep was my fiance! The first time we met each other in person (after meeting online and talking, etc) was magic! We met on July 4 2006, were dating and then he proposed to me on October 14th 2006. I hadn't quite finished the book but gave it away to a person who was headed to Japan and really wanted it. I hesitated when I gave it to her but knew I had too. I immediately ordered a new one from the author who was supposedly in Canada. I couldn't wait to receive it. Two days later the author showed up on my doorstep with a copy of the book. I couldn't believe it! He spent 3 hours on my couch talking with me about the book and life. It was so amazing!
