Back Pain and Tightness Relief with the Yoga Swing (Plus Thoughts on Smart Choices) – The Renegade Health Show Episode #401

In this episode, we’re going to show and tell you about our yoga swing and how it can be beneficial for someone who has back pain or tightness…

We’re off to Las Vegas today, so before we packed our yoga swing up we had time to do a little demo for everyone.

You don’t need to have a Yoga Swing to do all of this, but it’s a great tool to have for flexibility, relief and strength building.

Check it out…

Your question of the day: What do you have to “show and tell”?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comments now!

On the “Smart Choices” issue here are some links to read…

New York Times Article – 9/07/09
Natural News Article – 9/22/09

Here is where you can contact the School and ask for administrative reform: Click Here for Tufts Nutrition and Policy contact info. The Dean’s name is Dr. Eileen Kennedy, so I’d make sure you contact her as well as her colleagues.

Here’s a brief letter I wrote to the school… You can write your own, or just resend mine. :-)

Subject:

FW: Letter to Tufts Nutrition and Policy Dean

Body:

Dear Dr. Eileen Kennedy,

I’m deeply concerned that you, as the Dean of Tufts School of Nutrition Science and Policy, have teamed with the food industry to mislead the public into believing nutrition choices such as Cocoa Puffs and Froot Loops could be a “Smart Choice” for any consumer. (For those unaware of this reference, please see: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/05/business/05smart.html)

Consumers do make choices based on what the labels say. The Food Marketing Institute reported in 1999 that 59 percent of consumers have changed purchases because of information on the product label, and nutrition is the second most important factor in consumer food purchase decisions after taste (FMI, 1999) (From: http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/aer793/aer793e.pdf).

I’m not interested in attempting to sway your opinion on the issue of “Smart Choices”.

I am writing to just simply remind you that the only continuing education millions of Americans get about nutrition is from food labels.

It is the responsibility of upstanding, non-biased institutions like Tufts to police industry, not work with them to come to policy that “approves” of sugary, processed foods as good choices for our children.

I am also writing this to your colleagues at Tufts to remind them that your decisions and policies reflect on them and your institution. I can’t imagine all of the faculty agree with the standards set by the “Smart Choices” program.

It is not under my power to ask for your resignation due to gross negligence to the American people by allowing this policy to be publicized and carried out, since I have no authority to do so. But I do urge your colleagues to consider your replacement.

I’m sure there is someone who will gladly step up and be a role model and leader who stands for real nutrition science and the health of a population – not fuzzy, industry sponsored policy.

Please let me know if you have further comments, I would love to have you on our podcast program to explain your position on the program.

    Kevin,
FYI:I received a notice end of last wk that those items have already been taken off that list do to public outcry. I’m not totally sure who sent it to me. I think it was The Environmental working group. Not sure as I get so much info from many different groups.
    Keep up the good work

According to this article, action has already been taken:

UPDATE 3: Tufts University is asking to have its name removed from the Smart Choices site because it “falsely implies a direct relationship.” Will the Baylor College of Medicine be the only nonprofit organization not to back away?

UPDATE 2: The American Diabetes Association has also confirmed that it is not associated with or endorsing the Smart Choices program. Their name has been removed from the Smart Choices site.

UPDATE: The American Dietetic Association has asked Smart Choices to have its name removed from the Smart Choices media materials and Website! CEO Patricia M. Babjak wrote to clarify that the American Dietetic Association neither “participates in or endorses the Smart Choices program.” We have now removed them from this petition.

We’re getting results, let’s keep the pressure on!

The nation’s largest food manufacturers, including Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, ConAgra and PepsiCo, want you to believe that Froot Loops and other unhealthy foods are “Smart Choices.” And they have somehow convinced representatives from the Baylor College of Medicine to back them up.

Googled “Yoga Swing” and got several different kinds. I think I found the one you have, but am not sure. Could you give the name and/or website for that specific one, please?

These links are working now… Thanks Nick! :-)

Brian, Dr. Eileen Kennedy from Tufts is still the president of the “Smart Choices” program, as far as I know. So that’s still quite an embarrassment to the University.

As for the Froot Loops being removed, they’re still listed on the website.

nicely written letter. I went to a yoga studio several months back where the nutritionist who wrote in the newsletter had recommended nesquik chocolate milk after a hot yoga session!! ha! that was just plain ignorance, but i felt compelled to share it here. :) good show today. i have lots of fitness ‘gadgets’. my favorites: vibram five fingers (for making walking barefoot practical), captains of crush hand grippers, gyroscope for hand, wrist, and forearm strength, my kettlebell, gymnastic rings, and a posture pump for restoring the proper lordotic curve of the neck.

    HI Kevin and Annmarie,

What a great yoga swing that is…

    …thank you for the demonstration…

Which model of swing is used in this video?

And in regard to the Tufts School, just unbelievable…

That yoga swing looks amazing! I have the “body bridge” that allows you to bend backwards with support.

Yikes! Froot loops and Cocoa Puffs! One of my sisters gets emails from Mike Adams and she is always quoting Mike Adams to me and I am always quoting Kevin and AnneMarie Gianni to her! hehe Obviously, we are on the same page.

I am going to use your letter, Kevin, to send my opinion to Dr. Eileen Kennedy–I wonder how much money she has received to do this.

Like you say “one show at a time”. We will not give up!

I, too, cannot get the links to work.

I did go to the Tufts website and could see from the picture that there are, indeed, questionable health choices being practiced as well as endorsed.

Thank you for the heads up on an issue where we can all participate in making a change.

I don’t personally own any gadgets except hand weights, but I did discover during the week that a higher priced rebounder sure makes a difference! Night and day.

I remember when Fruit loops, and Coco puffs first came out, didn’t like them then. If I want really good chocolate I still reach for the original energy bar, Herseys. Not to often these days. The Fruit loops don’t compare to real fruit, and as I grew up with an organic Grandpa. Neat swing though. Don’t worry about showing your belly button, even though Walt Disney wouldn’t let Annete show hers, people now days put rings in them to show them off:) Have a good one–Rev John

    Hey Kevin and Annmarie,
Thank you for using your voice to make a stand with Tufts Univ. on their erroneous position for Smart Choices.

I have been using the Hang Up’s devise that you clamp your ankles into and hang upside down. We have had it for about 8 years and use it weekly. Plus we like to use the Rebounder when we need to bounce and loosen up. The Yoga Swing looks like fun too.

    Take care,

    Hi Kev,

While I’m happy to see you and Michael Adams (I get his newsletter too) point out the obvious goof on the part of Tufts, I was sorry to see you calling for a resignation which I would view as a last resort. As others have noted, things were & are in the works to have “problem” remedied. And, we’re happy to add letters (which I did) showing dissatisfaction. However, I recommend using Compassion rather than anger & indignation, with others who may disagree with our ideas or more accurately, may have made a mistake or been “off the mark” (original meaning of the word Sin). I feel that our numbers are high enough now, such that any email/ltr campaign and the media should work well to alter anything not considered in the public’s best interest. Mostly, thanks for your Passion and Commitment!!oxoxM:)

    Hey Kevin and Annmarie:

I love this swing due to it’s frame. I have seen the OM GYM and don’t have a place that I can hang it. Perhaps, this is the way to go.

Flexibility in the lumbar region is important. I made great progress in that area using Taoist technique of tapping the with a bamboo wisk. It open up fluids in that region poured up my spine like warm honey.

Now ‘J’ mentioned a posture pump for circle of life. I could use that kind of support. Can you share the product name for that device, J?

Happy you enjoyed – San Diego, my home. Come again soon!

Best of travels to Las Vegas and beyond,

It really shouldn’t be a surprise. University Nutrition Programs are funded by big multi million dollar corporation. That is why the food pyramids, have products from each of the food groups. Because Industries demand it.

I live in Canada and we have had that ridiculous similar program choices program called health chek run by the heart and stroke foundation, a complete joke! products like Cheez whis, and and Becel Margarine with Healthy Cheks on them. It is offensive really.

Asking one Dean of a Nutrition program to resign does not by any means get to the “heart” of the matter, since every Nutrition program in N.A.has similar problems. For the love of money Universities, recommend products that are not healthy. so that they can continue teaching.

I am a holistic Nutritionist, so I have considered taking a Masters in Nutrition, For credibility sake. But morally I just could not take a course that has less to do with an individuals health and more to do with corporate funding.

The Food Industry is a total mess!

The coolest thing I use regularly for maintenance is an old army surplus brush from the 1940′s, that I use for a Dry Brush Massage. Its stiff bristles and length make it a rather unique brush for this purpose. Here a pic :

Kevin… thanks for encouraging people to get politically active. I am not sure how much longer we have much word of say, but we might as well exercise our constitutional rights while we can.

Mike Adams AKA @healthranger will be talking about the *mandatory h1n1 vaccination story on the highly charged Alex Jones’ Channel this week! http://www.youtube.comTheAlexJonesChannel

*The Feds are laying down the precedence to vaccinate everyone. Government & Private employers are asserting that employees have to take the #h1n1 vaccination, or you are fired.

I wear Vibram five fingers and they make me feel connected to the ground as well as being good for my feet, legs and back. I was one of the first people to get them after they were exported to the US (brag, brag, lol)! I have always loved going barefoot so it’s nice to be able to do so. My coworkers eyes nearly popped out of their heads. I get a lot of funny looks with my Vibrams on. haha.i am really sorry though, that they discontinued the white originals. I was planning on getting some white ones too and they are no longer available. I don’t like the pinky purply color that replaced it.
I also recently got a Breville juicer and have really enjoyed drinking tons of fresh vegetable and fruit juice every day. I have lost 9 pounds in two weeks without even reducing my food intake while juicing. Completely unplanned, but true.
I have had my eye on the Om Gym for a while and plan to get one soon, the thought of going upside down and stretching out my back sounds so delicious I may not be able to postpone much longer.

    10:51 pm on September 22nd, 2009

Great program! I appreciated both completely separate topics. :)

I have an Om Gym that I like and which totally helps my boyfriend work out and find length in his back. Any of the toys/tools of this type can be really helpful if you use them with optimal alignment.

The only thing I would advise, as a yoga instructor, is the importance of alignment. Creating the natural curve of the spine is important before adding length. For instance, if someone has a tendency of flatness in the low back or neck, they need to learn how to re-create the curve of that area before they can get the most benefits (safely) from the inversion or other poses. Also, Ann Marie, though your bridge pose looks nice and it may just be because you were talking to the camera, be careful not to flatten your neck in that pose. Keeping the chin slightly lifted and pushing gently down through the back of the head from the tops of the ears, as well as keeping the head of the arm bones back, will help you enjoy even more openness through the chest and better circulation through the neck/head.

Just like with nutrition, you can approach the same yoga pose in so many ways. Having a foundational understanding of how to align your body and respect the natural curve of the spine can make all the difference for safety and enjoyment!

Oh, I would like to tell you about my good friend for one year now: A modern version of the bed of needles, THE SHAKTIMAT or the Indian acupressure mat.
It is so wonderful, relaxing, aids circulation and helps all kinds of things. It is really big in Sweden, where I come from, and they just started selling them here in the US.
It feels like getting a massage and you can have it as often as you want… or do yoga on it.

    Enjoy!

Hooping!!! I think most anyone can do this, it requires no special equipment except for an easy to make yourself hula hoop……you can hoop almost anywhere…very inexpensive, a great way to enjoy your music and get in shape! I have worn my heart rate monitor while jogging on the treadmill and hooping and I can burn the same amount of calories hooping (fun!) vs. the treadmill. I’ve monitored it every 15 minutes or so.

Please don’t plug chiropractors. It is such a scam with nothing to back its efficacy except a placebo effect and thousands upon thousands of quacks claiming that they can realign your spine by releasing gas in the joints (the same thing that causes the popping sound when you crack your knuckles!) I really expect more from you.

The yoga swing looks awesome! I teach both pilates and yoga. Believe it or not my PC doctor recommended pilates over ten years ago. After a lifetime of back pain and countless drugs, physical therapy, and visits to chiropractors, my final option seemed to be surgery. I haven’t been bed ridden with severe back pain for 10 years now ever since learning pilates. I’ve begun doing headstands every morning and the plow every evening for 5 to 10 minutes each for the benefits to the spine and blood flow to the brain. This looks much easier on the neck, which hasn’t been right ever since a chiropractor said “oops” as he was adjusting it some 27 years ago. Just a warning to everyone to be wary of chiropractors.

Yes, it’s often difficult to reconcile the actions of our so-called health experts. I still remember my family doctor as a great guy and a heavy smoker. He keep right on with the cigs even after his wife died of cancer.

Did Dr. Eileen Kennedy really think no-one would call her on this? Was she really willing to sacrifice her reputation and her school’s reputation for the cash. This is the real mystery for me.

The yoga swing looks cool. I like how you emphasize flexibility with movement. I think it’s important to distinguish between (static) flexibility and (dynamic) mobility.

In everyday life, increasing the length of a muscle isn’t really that useful unless you also increase its strength. You can also gain a lot of benefits from doing body weight exercises on dyna dics, stability balls and other unstable surfaces.

Kevin, we found the FDA’s response to the Tufts “Smart Choices” Program. Read it here: http://www.fda.gov/Food/LabelingNutrition/LabelClaims/ucm180146.htm

Although it does not outright condone the program, it does not support it. Even the FDA, who is not known for supporting proper nutrition, sees the error in this program!

So what is the deal with Tufts? Do we slam them with protest emails or what? What the heck, I am going to do it anyway.

I don’t know how Kevin managed to write all of the faculty aside from Eileen Kennedy herself, but I copied Kevin’s email (minus the part about “being on my show” etc.), and then copy-pasted all the email addresses of the faculty members in the Food Policy & Applied Nutrition Doctoral program (one of four doctoral programs at Tufts) into my gmail account. Here they are:

    beatrice.rogers@tufts.edu, steven.block@tufts.edu, jennifer.coates@tufts.edu, christina.economos@tufts.edu, gary.gleason@tufts.edu, john.hammock@tufts.edu, robert.houser@tufts.edu, karen.jacobsen@tufts.edu, daniel.maxwell@tufts.edu, miriam.nelson@tufts.edu, jennifer.sacheck@tufts.edu, kate.sadler@tufts.edu, james.tillotson@tufts.edu, peter.walker@tufts.edu, patrick.webb@tufts.edu,
    parke.wilde@tufts.edu,
    helen.young@tufts.edu

If you decide to harass them too, hopefully you can just cut and paste. They will hate us, but hey: if you can’t take the heat, get out of the (cooked food) kitchen! LOL

All you have to do is fill in name, email, state, etc, and press “Send”. This is the easiest option for most people.

I love that swing! I have scoliosis in my lower back and after having 5 children, well some days are more painful than others, let’s just say. Just watching Anne Marie stretch made me want that relief from my back pain that my inversion table just doesn’t quite bring, mostly because I can’t move freely on it, plus it hurts my ankles. I haven’t found chiropractors to be much relief either, but I do think they have a place in natural medicine. Massage therapy helps BIG TIME, but I think I will check into getting this swing :o )
Also, I am not the least bit surprised that a large corporation, ahem, I mean school, would endorse non-nourishing foods. In my state, I was offered thousands of dollars by the federal conservation society to spray RoundUp all over our farm for an invasive grass!! I had already explained that we grow organically! Can you imagine the toxicity of 178 acres and 9 ponds of RoundUp?! I courteously showed them the exit gate…

Dear Kevin and Annmarie, You are wonderful souls. I was saddened a few shows back when someone complained because they felt you were ‘off’ sometimes. Errr, I don’t see them doing such heartfelt, integrity based work. So easy to judge.
No surprise with Tufts, yes, resignation is a perfect idea – the far reaching damage for poor diet in children is a major contributor for ADHD just to name one issue. I remember years ago a comedian doing a whole segment on growing up and having ‘sugar smacks’ – like drugs for breakfast…
But will resignation happen – probably not. It’s like when I recently visited a relative in a cancer(big industry)hospital – they served hot coffee and hot food to everyone in/on styrofoam – what!…, or is it just me????
Regarding chiropractors they can be life saving – or yes, life altering. I do know 2 people completely disabled – and yet, many more who couldn’t have continued on without that work. It is a work to be used with caution and respect. Word of mouth is best source to find a good DC.
Lastly, I love the generous nature of your readers…thanks to Katrina, the yoga instructor, for her generous share about proper alignment and details – valuable information.
    Happy trails and safe journey!

Annmarie ~ Your flexibility and strength are truly inspiring and to be admired!
My favorite fitness “tool” is a Trek commuter bike. It’s small and light but quite powerful. It gets me where I need to go but also folds in half to be carried onto public transportation if the weather becomes inclement (even though I usually ride in the rain as well). This choice of leg power over fossil fuel makes me feel good physically as well as gives me a clean conscience.
Thank you for your efforts as well as allowing us to share how we are each “changing the world” one person at a time.

Hi Kevin, I contacted Dr. Kennedy via email. Here’s what I wrote. If you take a look at her profile she doesn’t appear to be a healthy role model either.

Subject: Smart Choices – You’re kidding right?

    Dr. Kennedy,

I’m incensed to think that you would mislead the public to think that Kraft Mac & Cheese, Cocoa Puffs, and Fruit Loops are nutritious food choices.

The health of future generations and the stability of our healthcare system rests on people in leadership positions making it clear that Real Whole Food is what our diet should mostly consist of and not such preservative filled faux food.

I have to wonder how much funding is sent your way from Kraft, Kelloggs, & General Mills?

Please do the right thing and re-think your position.

I’d like to comment on Caite’s opinion Chiropractor. I think we need to be careful when we outright criticize certain professions. While you may not presonally enjoy a certain treatment option it is unfair to put down a method of healing that has help thousands and thousands of people world wide. There are plenty of manipulation-free chiropractors that use neuroscience techniques to heal their patients. Personally I use osteopathy to heal myself but to each their own.

    God bless.
Oh, I have a mini rebounder, a yoga mat, and a pair of runners…I’m set :)

    Hello Kevin and Annmarie,

I built my own Power Plate. I mounted a 3Phase Vibrational Conveyor motor onto an Aluminum Plate, I mounted a board onto that and then 1/2″ foam was glued to the wood. I put a leg on each corner and used die springs on the bottom of each leg. To get the 50HZ I used a 220V 3Phase Inverter that can run on 220V single phase. To get the 220V from a regular house outlet, I used a dry stepdown transformer backwards. I have a speed control on the inverter that allows me to set the speed to the healing 50HZ frequency. When I do my liver flushes I use it to giggle the stones on their way.

Thank you both for so many inspiring episodes. You have enriched my life beyond what I can express in a few short sentences. Can’t wait to try making my own cultured veggies!

This morning while watching the weather on TV, I caught a Fruit Loops commercial that states that each serving now contains 3 grams of fiber. I wonder if that includes the box? ;)

I healed from chronic sciatica after a course of treatment with a wonderful Chiropractor, and the use of an inversion table as well as a Yoga practice. I love the look of the Yoga swing, though.

My most recent awesome healthy device is the Healthy Juicer:
http://www.lexenproducts.com/pages/manual_juicer.html – I just love juicing using my own muscle.

OK, now, off to write my messages – thanks, Lourdes, for posting all those email addresses!

Thanks again Kevin & Ann Marie!

    Love,
    Joy

You are so fit, AnneMarie. Thanks for sharing that with us. Could you perhaps also show us some exercises to do on a ball that would be good for the back? I have double scoliosis so have to be very careful. I agree with the person who said massage therapy helps wonders. It really does help keep me loosened up. Apart from that, I use hand weights, stretchy bands, a rebounder and walk a lot.

    Hi Kevin,
Yes, could you please post the site for that yoga swing, if possible in Canada??

We also have a similar program with the ‘health check’ symbol and yes, not surprisingly, it is corrupt. This is simply big marketers buying ppl’s ignorance because the ppl in the ‘know’ already realize that anything that comes from packages (with a name attached) is really just a distraction from the goodness mother nature already provides (she doesn’t require packageing)..you could write letters, but I think it might be a better way just to educate ppl on what it really means to have companies telling you what to eat..and yes, everyone in that boat (big marketers) has a stake in ppl’s ignorance..that’s how they have ballooned into the perversion of truth that they are (and material wealth also)..I do think it’s wise to use your voice, but I do think it would be wonderful if more education was available to the nation (the world), like mandatory in school, so that we are never fooled into a false sense of security in believeing what this brand name or this person in position of government says.
I do believe in teaching ppl the truth, having them think for themselves and having the courage to walk away from what the crowd thinks and does (which for the majority, unfortunately, means laziness and passing the thinking part off into the authority of big marketers).
I say we start teaching not just adults, but prevent children from being manipulated by marketers by teaching integrity and educating about health, fitness and nutrition should be the basis (it is essential for life, isn’t it??).
Our ways need to change by seeing just who we place in charge of such responsibility. We are always responsible for our own destiny, understanding (education) and most of all, for the future of our children and the world collectively.

I like fitness gadgetry. My favorite is an exercise ball for stretching my back and sides, as Anne Marie was doing in the yoga swing. It is an all-around favorite piece of equipment with many stretching and coordination uses.

The Body Bar Buddy is an S-shaped bar that allows me to apply myofascial pressure to parts of my shoulders and back where trigger points have occurred. Really helpful for when I overtrain with weights.

I also like the foam roller, a cylindrical-shaped thing that allows, once again, myofascial pressure to be applied to various body parts where tension has been stored.

The BOSU is nice to train balance and coordination and also allows for a wider range of motion when doing crunches and ab work.

The step is probably my #1 choice for overall fitness apparatus. It’s super versatile and can be used for cardio, toning and a myriad of other things.

Please do more yogaswing videos!! (at more distance)

Have you tried any other models? Could you give us a review?
Are there any other models that also have that string hang up thing? Or could you buy that separately?
Can you fix us a discount? ;)

    Hey there,
I will spare my comments on the so-called nutritions.

I would, however, like to describe my invention. I had a pull up bar made for me by the local welder ( a 1″ diameter bar about 3′ across with 4″ (tapered down) on each end) THis allows pull ups and chin ups to be done in a variety of positions. Here comes the invention.

Take a 1×4 piece of wood about a foot 1/2 long and set it on top of a martial art belt (in the middle of the belt) then put those two on top of a towel (short ways) and roll the belt and board in the towel. When you have rolled to the end use some electrical tape in several spots to ensure it does not unravel. Now put a fairly large islet hook about one body length in the ceiling lined up with the middle of the pull up bar.

Now you can tie the martial arts belt to the islet hook and you have a platform to swing your feet up into so you can use the pull up bar to work out your back by puling up. Use different heights and hand width grips to get a variety of positions to work the back in different areas and intensities.

Hope that made sense and hope someone gets some use out of it!
    I love it!

Thanks for being so concerned about the nutrition of our children.
I think so many products are misleading.
    You guys are awesome!

I love that yoga swing. That looks like it would be great.
There is a caution for those 50+ years old to fully invert on anything.
Full inversion can cause retinal detachments. So, be careful not to fully invert on anything after you reach 50.
    Have an awesome day!

i put this on facebook to.suger is the most addictting chimical or drugThe druggie can “know” that it’s bad for him, but he also knows that he’ll go through living hell if he quits. The better alternative, he thinks, is to keep taking the stuff.

So, sugar can be viewed as one of the most basic of all health problems on the planet — not just plain white sugar, but the overwhelming foolishness of “official” diets that put your ideal intake at 60% carbohydrates, and a much-too-low percentage of proteins

Now, take a look at how hard commercial companies try to addict children to sugar. Many of the top cereals in the world have very large amounts of pure sugar. Then, click (or click the image) to see the home page for Kellogg’s Cereals. That page is a drug pusher’s dream — entrap the kids into playing games that make them want sugar — feed them “healthy” cereal that is 53% pure sugar, and there goes civilization. I don’t think they are ignorant of the evil they represent!

If you would like the history of how sugar got started in the Western world, read here.

If you think the artificial sweeteners are better?? click here — they are not!

You’ve heard it many times: “Sugar contains no nutrition of any kind — it adds calories, but no food value.” Our society is grossly overweight, yet we eat more sugar than most other countries in the world, and far, far more than we did a few hundred years ago.

Sugar is the number one health hazard in our society. It’s no surprise that the Government subsidizes production of sugar — spending billions to support an industry that is both harmful to consumers and no longer economical to have within the United States. Sugar growers are a powerful force for evil in our society.

I’ve already mentioned cigarettes, but consider that the government not only subsidizes production of sugar, and promotes its use, but also subsidizes the production of tobacco. Obviously the evils of tobacco are now public, while the evils of sugar are not.
    on the planet.

  61. raymond
    10:28 am on September 24th, 2009

    And Kellogg’s Cereals!

Incidentally, the solution is NOT to try to regulate these evil industries, but to raise the awareness of individuals so that they no longer seek such sensations. The desire for sensation would be fine, as a survival instinct, if we could predict the consequences of the substance causing the sensation. Food that is good FOR you should taste good! It doesn’t always, but if you had sufficient awareness you would know about the future consequences of some food-based sensation.

No diet of any kind should include any processed sugar, nor any foods to which sugar (including fructose, corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, etc.) have been added.

This one change, alone, can improve your health very dramatically, yet this change, alone is one of the hardest to make. Sugar is more addictive than cigarettes, caffeine or cocaine — and more deadly.

Yet the government suggests that you can eat the stuff, even if you are a diabetic.

If you can’t accept this simple truth, there is no need to read further about the true natural diet of man. I didn’t say that you feel strong enough to kick the habit — that takes a lot of determination. But, even many people who can’t kick the sugar habit understand, intellectually, that sugar is bad for them. They just acknowledge that they can’t break the addiction. Likewise, they could not go onto the diet I recommend here

here is some more amazing facts of chemicals in our food;Food Sensation Is Not Actually Usually Taste Sensation — But SMELL!

You might think that McDonalds French Fries have a wonderful taste? Well, read the secret to that “taste” by clicking here.

While I spoke of the desire for taste sensation above, and many people would agree that they enjoy the “taste” of food, the terrible truth is that very little of what you consider a sensation of taste actually takes place in your mouth!

The great majority of what YOU think is a taste sensation, is actually an aroma that you smell.

Man does not at all distinguish between taste and smell in food.

Click here to read an amazing expose of how food companies manipulate the “smells” in the food you eat — you think it “tastes good” but in fact it just “smells good.” The REAL expose is how the food companies, with or without their own knowledge, are starting to add addictive substances to their foods — so you will feel the need of eating more. MSG is just such an additive and found in almost all processed foods. The more deadly additives have already arrived in the form of additives that mimic the role of psychotropic drugs, including Prozac. Yes, the ingredients in your soup may be turning you into a drugged zombie! I have a major study on this

even if they are removed, the worst part is she defended her stance multiple times, by saying it contains 25% RDA vitamin C, some fiber, and only 12 grams of sugar or something.
and the program used some 7 yr study trying to correlate cereal consumption with lower cholesterol and BMI – no BMI correlation, and I don’t know what they found with the cholesterol, doesn’t really matter anyway

I tried to email her at eileen.kennedy@tufts.edu

@Caite- You are absolutely correct, there are some Chiropractors out there who are quacks, however there are some good ones too. For example, Dr. Richard E. Busch III, a well known Dr. of Chiropractics has come out with a great book titled, “Surgery not Included: Freedom from chronic neck and back pain” is a really interesting book that highlights some great revolutionary noninvasive treatments for back and neck pain- alternatives to surgery. I believe that his techniques are very beneficial and right on.

I love my yoga swing. It is a gravotonics yoga swing http://www.gravotonics.com and, even thought my yoga practice is fun and relaxing, it has brought so much more fun and relaxation into my yoga practice.

I supply Northern Colorado. If you live in Colorado and want to skip the shipping costs, you can reach me at 970-576-8022 to order your yoga swing. Our swings are built from recycled parachutes in Bali and help the economy in Bali which you may know is a very poor country.
