Can’t wait to get the book! My favorite green is baby spinach. I do like kale as well for it’s nutritional punch, but if I’m trying to win over a first timer…I always go for my favorite combo: pineapple/peach/orange/banana/spinach. Gets them every time :) I had dandelion greens in my smoothie for the first time this morning too. Woo!

Great video.. still working on getting my parents to try a green smoothie.. soon I hope!
I mixed jicama with strawberries, pears and spinach.. we also add freeze dried sprouts from Sprout Living to our greens smoothies, fennel sprouts (yum!), kale sprouts, red clover sprouts.. 1/2 a teaspoon of each packs a great alkaline punch!

Looks yummy but I don’t put avocado in there since the fat and fruit isn’t an ideal food combo, and I usually get a stomach ache if I try mixing them! I use a banana for the creamy texture instead.
I like to use cilantro, parsley, collards, dandelions, swiss chard, etc. Just keep mixing up different greens.
I LOVE green smoothies! They’re the best thing to add to your diet, quick, easy and power packed! My teen son and his friends even drink them now!

I love green smoothies… My personal favorite is greens from the garden (kale, spinach, chard etc), young coconut water and meat, pineapple, cucumber, lime, parsley, and a little hit of agave and a couple ounzes of aloe vera. What a great way to start the day!

I JUST made a lettuce, fennel and pineapple green smoothie from thinnings in my garden. YUMMMM! Unfortunately, my daughter does not like the foam or the bits of leaves and fruit that is always left, so I have to strain it through a nutmilk bag for her. She will not drink much at a time, either, so I keep it in the fridge. Just as tasty three or four days later as on day 1, go figure. Hey, at least she is getting SOME greens into her… :)

A few of my favourite green smoothie recipes can be found on my webpage: http://www.home-and-school-solutions.com/HW/simple-green-smoothies.htm

Spinach and peach was my first and favourite green smoothie! I am so looking forward to the spinach in my garden coming up so I can make it again!

Avocado, lovage (from my garden), chocolate mint, cucumber, pea pods, bok choy, asparagus … even garlic scapes or whatever else I come up with at the time. I first juice the tougher ones and then pour the juice into the blender together with avocado. Sometimes add blueberries, sometimes carrot juice … and a touch of stevia leaf or extract if it is too bitter. I try to stay away from the sugary fruits which raise blood sugar and blood pressure but will sometimes add a banana anyway. I like variety.

Currently purslane as my garden made a bumper crop of it this year! Yum! I’ll miss it when it’s gone! But then I have plenty of chard, and some mustard greens growing. In winter, whatever falls out of the fridge works, it doesn’t seem to really matter!

My favorite greens for greens smoothies:
    I love LOTS of ‘em!

    dino kale

    parsley

    Romaine (cos) lettuce

    and of course, spinach

    Favorite all time green smoothie:
Parsley, apples(2), a small lime, and water whirred up in my vitamix

haven’t ventured into the “wild greens’ because I don’t know how to identify them and not really wanting to poison myself or loved ones.

Kevin, your mom is so cute :-) ! I enjoyed watching all of ya and you as usual are great !
Btw…that David Wolfe recent show was not as good as the other ladies who was far better. Infact DW bored me and the lady had far more valuable things to say.
I am not much into green smoothie so far just getting into them. My first time was a disaster as I had 3 cups in a day and I got green stools for 3 days. :-) . I guess one should start with less. Today I had banana, romainne lettuce and berries mix in pumpkin seed milk ..pretty good taste.

I have a green smoothie every morning. I use spinach, fuji apple, 2 bananas, 1/2 tsp. ground chia seed, 1/2 tsp. ground golden flax seed, 1 cup almond or hazlenut milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup ice. Blend in my vita-mix and off to work I go. I use dandelion greens, rainbow chard, kale, and any other green that I have in my refrigerator. I live where we do not have to many wild greens that grow that we feel comfortable trying to identify. I also use avacadoes instead of bananas sometimes. All are very good. Oranges and bananas with greens are very good, also. Can’t wait for your smoothie recipes. Thanks!!!

    Sunflower greens or pea shoots!

Then add fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, and a piece of ginger!

Reserve your quiet “indoor voice” for dealing with unruly preschool children. For the rest of us, keep your intro as it always has been: fun, friendly, happy, enthusiastic … Keep up the good work!

I have no favorite smoothie–tend to use whatever fruits and greens are available–but my favorite vegetable juice is 1/2 cup celery juice, 1/2 cup spinach and parsley combined juice (or other dark, leafy greens if those are not fresh enough in the store), and 2 cups carrot juice.

    Hi,
I know this is late – it’s because I’m in a different time zone (Middle East, so don’t usually join in) but I want to clear up this avocado & fruit combination thing. I used to combine them and loved avocado in my smoothies, but stopped recently – I thought it was Victoria B who said it’s a bad combination.
I love all these smoothie ideas – I have made a list of most of them.

My favorite greens are cilantro and kale with… anything! I’ve really been digging on lime lately, too. Mmmm…

Re: food combining… Greens cans be combined with fruits and veggies and work best when blended. Re: avos and what Victoria B. says… I looked through her book and saw that the only place she says anything about avos is on p. 19. She doesn’t say -not- to use avos; she’s mentioning them because she’s advocating for a decrease in our fat intake and an increase in our greens intake. I don’t think she meant it as an absolute “no fats ever!”. It just seems like she’s pushing for more greens, that’s all.

My two cents… Lisa Marie Lindenschmidt

Cathy, I’ve always been chicken to leave the avo seed in – just so afraid it’s going to break the blender – but I’ve seen it done on YouTube – I’ve got a Blendtec, so should be ok – maybe I’ll try it this weekend….

Fav GREEN in green smoothie – prob collard. I normally do superfoods smoothies – always with a banana, maybe mango, & often with teaspoon of any/many of the Elements for Life (Blue-Green Algae, Marine Phytoplankton, Maca, Cacao, Cordyceps, Goji Berries), Radical Health (Chocolate Bliss), Sunfood (Spirulina), Healthforce Nutritionals (Vita-Minrl Green, Earth, and The Raw Food World (hemp seeds, chia seeds) products.

I’m still getting used to smoothies. They make me feel a little queasy. Right now I only have one two times a week. Between you guys and Victoria, I’ve been learning so much and will be incorporating more in the near future.

I had a question: I see young coconuts in the market and wonder what to do with them. I use coconut oil every day and would also like to add these to my diet.

Kevin, your mom must be so proud of you!

I drink green smoothies almost every day.

I use spinach or kale for my greens.

I do not think it is necessary to use the avocado as the texture is good without it.

I do add ground up flax seeds or flax oil .
once in a while I do add some avocado.

I also put a banana in mine.

been doing this for 4 to 5 years. I have Victorias’ book.

Romaine lettuce and spinach are my staples.

The wild blueberries are getting ripe here in Norway now – the blueberry bushes actually cover 70% of the country! So my faviourite smoothie at the moment is: Romaine, canary bananas and wild blueberries – divine!!!

My favorite is kale! I try to use varied greens, like Cilantro…mmmmm…or spinach. Victoria Boutenko came up with 1/3-1/2 bunch Dandilion,1/3-1/2 bunch parsley (including stems), 3 mangos(I like 2 plus 1 cup frozen), 1 banana. Fill with water. YUM!!!

Great seeing the mother/daughter-in-law moment over a green smoothie. Congratulations, Maureen, on a wonderful son and daughter-in-law. Thank you for the work you do with cancer patients. I love your calm, soft-spoken demeanor, and I’ll bet they appreciate you, too.
Blessings on the upcoming compilation of recipes from the experts, Giannis.

    TO James above,
Why would you ask kevin to use an indoor voice? The whole premise of his show is vibrant and energetic health. If you want to hear someone lethargic go listen to someone else’s show.

Thank you for making that comment James… I thought I was the only one! When you scream “Good afternoon everyone!” it makes me jump, Kevin! I’m pretty much conditioned to tense up before I even press play now. The way you said it in the video of you and AM in the airport was nice. I was much more at ease watching the rest of it after that pleasant suprise.

i want to comment on the ear ache question, but could not find the proper area, so here it is:
two possibilities: find a quiet spot, tune into yourself, ask what message from your inner guide you do not want to hear or who said what to me that is painful, makes me angry etc you will get an answer for sure.
second: use the meridian tapping technique EFT
    get well soon

I’m still new to smoothies, so I’m finding out what works for me. I really like putting spinach in mine. This morning’s smoothie was a winner.

I used spinach, half of a banana, blueberries, kiwi, almond butter, almond milk, wheat germ, a little bit of agave, and some ice.

Question, is it still considered a green smoothie with so many other things that weren’t green?

Blueberrys, strawberrys, rasberrys, blackberrys bunch of greens(any work) dates, raw tahini, raw coconut butter or fresh coconut, bananna. A great nutritiously filling taste.

    i love kale!
i have been told that you should not mix fruit ie blue berries with greens ie kale. ??? it is said that they take 2 different kinds of enzimes to digest them so together they will not fully digest. any comments will be greatly appreciated.
