Back in Santa Rosa today for the weekend!
We’re at the RV park and the woman asked us if we were here for the donkey show at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. Annmarie said, “Now we are!” LOL!
Well, honestly, don’t know if we’ll make it to see the donkeys, but we did have a chance to answer some of your questions about iridology and if it works, how many calories do you need to eat and if you need to take supplements.
Take a look…
Your question of the day: What do you think of Iridology?

I’ve never tried iridology, but I vote for Santa Monica:)

Iridology can be a great tool to evaluate what is going on in the body. As with anything, some people are better at it than others. I studied iridology 20 years ago. I chose not to include it in my Naturopathic practice because I prefer other methods of evaluation. Kevin and Anne Marie, I would love for you to choose the San Francisco Bay Area, that’s where I live.

Years ago, I laughed at iridology-thinking it was ridiculous until I brought in an iridologist to teach basic iridology for two days at the Health Educator class at Hippocrates-I was instantly hooked. It is an amazing tool. Not meant for diagnostic use, it helps you to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your body. I strongly suggest you go to a person who photographs your eyes and has them read by a computer. The subjectivity is when you look directly at the iris with a light and a magnifying glass. Programs have been designed that removes that subjectivity by using a computer. The correct pronunciation of this very useful tool in the alternative health tool chest is EYE RI DOLOGY
Eye as in Eye…not IH ri dology. I was lucky enough to be able to study with the late Dr. Bernard Jensen at the Intermediate level. I came very close to pursuing iridology in more depth to become a practitioner…but you know the rest of the story…I stuck with the cleansing, healing and culinary aspects of raw food. Nomi

just curious how much does bloodwork usaully cost (estimation of course, I know it will vary according to situation)? thanks

Me neither. I use to live in Culver City and really liked the Marina Del Rey. Great weather in those areas. Santa Monica is really crowded with people and cars, of course what city isn’t.

Thanks, lots of good information!I hear from friends that Iridology has been useful for them in conjuntion with other tests. So I agree with Keven! Thanks with the nutritional vitamin info basics.

Iridology is Awesome! It is one of the best shortcuts to finding out what your body requires nutritionally. Live blood shows what’s in the blood at that moment, and Iridology can give you the information you need BEFORE it becomes a problem.
Therefore, it is an awesome painfree tool which is useful even for kids. You can really see where the weaknesses are.
Iridology is a Science, so it isn’t an ad lib thing.
I studied with Bernard Jensen as well, and he helped over 300,000 people using Iridology, Herbs and Nutrition.
Iridology is the easy part to learn. The expertise comes in knowing what herbs and nutrition are required to balance the body’s weaknesses and imbalances. This means knowing what minerals the body requires and what herbs and foods can replenish and support that.
That my friend,is the Art of Iridology.

I need to go! My eyes are bloodshot every day….what does that mean?????? How do I have nice clean white eyes. I have been raw for 3 weeks now??? Anyone?
Thanks,
Allison

Yes it works, when I turned 45 my eyes started to get weak and the eye doctor took a picture of the back of my eyes and said I had no health problems. He said it was a good way to check for diabetes. So Right.

Hey Kevin,
As you note, I think Iridology should be used in conjunction with other measures. It provides a window into what is going on with the body, but it is not the only or best window. Just one of many.
All the best, Eric

I agree with Nomi, Annette, and Kevin. My sister “examined” my eyes some years ago after her training. Her take was the same — one more tool for your tool box!
I’d vote for Boulder, but only because said sister lives in the Denver area. I might be able to see you on a rare visit to her!
Thanks again for your wonderful videos!

I think Iridology is so interesting. I have had it done once years ago.
I vote for Sonoma County/ Bay Area for you guys to settle down to.
If you are interested in having a workout at the gym that I train at in Santa Rosa- Studio Fitness which is right next to Whole Foods on Sat and trying out the Turbosonic machine.. Call me at 477-3575.
Enjoy your stay in Santa Rosa.
Will I see you at Cafe Gratitude Monday Night with Cherie Soria?

Annette is right, iridology is an effective diagnostic tool to tell you which systems are stressed BEFORE problems manifest.
I am not trained, just interested and read the book. Even so, I saw my co-worker’s uterine problems before her historectomy. I knew my piano student’s mother was in trouble before she almost died. I saw my student’s urinary tract infection. (I do not say anything to other people. It is not my place, and I am not a doctor.) When my iris changed color in the colon area, I made an appointment. My IBS attack was the day before the dr. appt. That saved me a trip to emergency since I figured I would survive the night and was going to the DR in the morning.
Since I have been trending raw (about 50% now) my irises have been clearing up. The colon area is healing and my health is reflecting what I read in my eyes.
Yes, I have been read by a professional, since I am an amateur.

I’m an iridologist, and, yes, it’s one more tool in the toolbox. We iridologists do NOT diagnose (and by law can’t say we do). We analyze basic constitution and tissue states. It’s especially helpful for me because I’m a medical intuitive, and looking into the window to the body/mind/soul is extremely useful.
9:41 pm on June 25th, 2009
Yes, I’ve had my eyes tested with this method. I found it to be very interesting. The nutritionist pointed out that I had a weakness in my kidney’s and another area which I don’t remember right now. It was a very long time ago. It was information that I needed so I could take some corrective measures at that time.

Yeah I had iridology done several months ago, and recently had my blood analyzed. The doctor’s report was consistent with the iridology results, identifying my problem areas, so I think there is something to it.

I think you should take the Kale Whale and move to Princeton, near Half Moon Bay, which is at the Pacific Ocean and about 20 minutes from San Francisco.

I had iridology done a couple of years ago and it was very accurate.Funnily enough shortly after that I started to transition to a raw food diet.

Hello Kevin,
How did you like Portland OR ? It is quite gray in winter but very sunny in summer and falls without overpopulation like in big cities of CA.

This is a little off topic but, could you do a segment on body frame size? I hear sometimes comments to you regarding proper weight. People need to realize that your bone frame will dictate how much you should weigh, not just height. I never see this discussed enough. I still see people try to look like waifs when they have large frames. Giving examples would be great. I’m 5’2″ and the weight I feel best at is 120 lbs. Less than 115lbs, I don’t do well (health wise) I’m medium framed. People always think I weigh at least 10 to 15 lbs less than I look. Bone is dense. Love your frame!!

Hi,
I not sure where to post questions when after answers but I was hoping you could offer some information for me as I’m coming up empty on my searches.
For people who have had organ transplants (in this case a liver transplant)they are made to take immune suppressants for the rest of their lives. Aside from the obvious health and lifestyle quality implications the lifespan on the individual will be invariably shortened.
Can raw and living foods Juicing fasting etc do any thing to help heal the body and or get them off immune suppressants? The raw foods will clearly boost the immune system which is contrey to what is wanted by doctors and the tranplanted organ because it could be rejected.

Info packed, action packed vid’, yo! Mad thanks for all you do!
With my clients, I classify supplements in 3 categories: 1) The supps you must have, 2) targeted, issue-specific supps, & 3) health geek supps.
Supps you must have are EFAs, probiotics and minerals. (from whole food, low-heat dehydrated, once-living yada yada yada sources, nat’)
Targeted supps are ones for specific, individual issues (like what you were talking about): enzymes? B12? D3? They’re usually temporary, and the need for them is usually found by working with a practitioner.
Health geek: all the rest—tocotrienals, colostrum, royal jelly, E3Live, herbal hoohas, Reishi/Maitake et al, You get the idea…
On getting enough calories: Thank goodness you’re hitting this, Kevin. Not enough folks talk about this issue. What I’ve observed is that the people that eat REALLY light and DON’T waste away are those who: a) Have been eating super clean for a LONG time, so their body’s have gotten very clean and, hence, highly efficient at absorbing nutrition (in fact, they’re probably living more on energy than on straight, biological calories…I wrote an article touching on this stuff, http://tinyurl.com/q7befr ) and, b) live a mellow, even contemplative, low-stress, calm life.
My two cents. Actually, that was pretty long winded, More like two fat dollars! I’ll shut up now!

Oh, one last thing: (Oh my God! I can’t stop!)
My wife and I visited many cities for a place to maybe move to, and we also came out with Santa Monica and the Bay Area as our two semi-finalists! (Love Boulder, too; but gotta have the sea!) Okay, Now I’m REALLY done. No really…
9:57 am on June 26th, 2009
Thank you for answering my question Kevin! You pronounced my name exactly the way I pronounce it, amazing!
And, you are also right that maybe I need more calorie than just protein, my naturopath said the same thing. I’m trying my best to eat as much as I can, but when I eat more food, my digestion starts to suffer. It’s very tricky to find the balance just to maintain my weight, let alone gaining any.

I like iridology. When I first heard about it and got a few books and chart I experimented with people and while I’m not a professional and have never taken a course some things are easy to identify–like old broken legs, colon issues, clogged lymph tendencies, etc. Definitely a professional is in order. I’ve seen several of those and my TCM doc whom I see yearly always checks my eyes so it’s interesting to compare year to year as I get younger.
As I got healthier I could see a very noticeable difference in eye color. If I were to take another course, this would be quite close to the top of my list. I’d love to know why some people with beautiful clear eyes are not well and some others with muddier looking blotchy eyes are healthy. Mine are not clear but I keep hearing good things about my health. Why?
Dr. Bruess (Breuss Cancer Cure) was amazing at iridology. He could tell if a person had naphthalene poisoning just from looking at the eyes. He was a master at reversing leukemia too.

Forgot to say, Nomi is correct about the pronunciation. I wonder my almost everyone pronounces it wrong. Maybe we need to change the pronunciation, LOL!

I would vote for Santa Monica, too, but it is crowded there, although nice.
I just wanted to give a shout out to you guys for all your dedication and your shows every week. I’ve learned a lot from you and really appreciate your hard work.
XOXOXO

I want to have blood work done and would like to know how I go about that. What do I ask for them to check in my bloodwork? Or do you have it in your website and you might direct me there.
As far as Iridology…..I think it is another good source of information to use to heal our bodies. I feel the same as you on the subject.
Thank you so much
Jennifer

Well lets say that from my personal experience it took me over 40 years to unwittingly abuse my body and I have only been observing my Irises for the past two years since going raw . In that time I have not seen any changes of note. Perhaps my body is still healing. I remain a skeptic so far. I do know that the raw food diet works to help heal the body since I have had personal proof of that ,I just have not seen my irises reflect those changes.
6:41 pm on June 26th, 2009
You’re pronouncing it wrong. It is EYE-rodology, as in Eye-ris. It is the study of the EYE-ris. I studied with professionals and they all pronounce it that way.
8:45 pm on June 26th, 2009
I find it a fascinating past time to to observe the body and iridology is just another way of observing the internal goings-on. After reading Dr. Jensen and Dr. Anderson on the subject of iridology and cleansing, I observe my irises as I cleanse to gauge my progress. I have bright green eyes when my intenstines are clean and they tend to turn brownish in the center when it is time for another colon cleanse. I have a “liver spot” when it’s time for a liver cleanse, etc. So I find it a helpful observational tool. I was born in Santa Monica and I lived in the Bay Area for many years also. I would have to recommend SoCal as the best place on earth! I currently live in Orange County and will never move again! You should come check out OC!

Hey Kevin,
That would be great if you moved to Santa Monica! Our daughter lives only ten minutes away in L.A., with a son in the area as well, so maybe we’d get to see you sometime!
As for Iridology, my aunt was told years ago by several doctors that her symptoms were all in her head. Then she went to an iridologist who identified without being told the exact complaints she suffered from and even suggested what to have the doctors test her for! Sure enough, what they found proved that the iridologist was correct.
I went myself later to an iridologist who correctly identified some issues I had. I found this a useful tool to help bring them more fully to my attention and give me some direction in taking action.
There are many ways to approach identifying health challenges. One of my favorite is the BioScan machine–there are various kinds. My scanner technician has many years doing this as a professional, and I get reliable results. She helps me to pinpoint which supplements are helpful and dosages optimum for me. I have great confidence that I am getting the proper supplementation for my individual needs now, without guesswork. She doesn’t push product, but tests ones I get elsewhere as well as the few she carries because so many people need them. (I just got scanned today and you can tell I’m still excited about how great this is!) I returned a couple items to the health store which I’d either used before but no longer needed, or wanted to try but they didn’t scan for me. I recommend finding an experienced scanner! An inexpensive but effective route.
Sorry to be so long, but my daughter also (like Quinny) has difficulties with keeping weight. She has problems with her digestive system–she feels nauseous just thinking about food. Being as her mother (me) is into health food, and she’s 25, it’s not her thing, although she’s dabbled in it occasionally. So she eats SAD foods. Any suggestions? For me, or for my daughter?

I am a little late on this one, but I just want to say that I love Santa Monica and Boulder (great help, right?) My daughter recently moved to Santa Monica and lives a 10 minute bike ride from the Pacific–fabulous!!
Boulder gives you the mountains. I think it is great you have the RV so you can check out the different places. I live in eastern South Dakota–I don’t think you will be considering this place–hehe! Extreme heat in summer and extreme cold in winter.
Love your programs!

Hey, I’ll put in a vote for Bay Area–Santa Rosa specifically. As you probably know, we have Community Market, True North, Seed Restaurant, and are just down the road from Cafe Gratitude in Healdburg (and just up the road from CG in San Rafael). We have a lot more parking spaces than SF or East Bay–take it from me, live near The City, but not in it!!! Also we have SheaLynn Baird, John Kolter, and lots of other cool people that you know here!
Well, good luck–it is so fun to scout around for a new place to live!!
Happy landing,
Lucas

Kevin,
as a 25 year practitioner of Iridology and other things, I think you answer was well presented.
Iridology should never be the only evaluation,
We use urine/ saliva tests, Zyto Balance galvanic skin response, and iridolgy. As a Diplomat of Holistic Iridology, I would never use only the Iridology. We also use hair analysis, blood testing and saliva hormone tests.

There is a girl I went to college with and was diagnosed with leukemia from her eye doctor.
I guess you’re not even considering FL since you didn’t come down this way.

Hi Kevin,
I love iridology like you said as a tool like blood tests etc. I took a class for my naturopathy degree and it was extremely interesting. My husband was the subject and I have to say, everything in his eyes matched his health situation so it was really cool. I’ve looked at people’s eyes differently since that class, but what fascinates me is how someone will compain of something and I will notice that location in their eyes. Cool show! Kim

It has been said that “the eyes are the windows of the soul.” Through the use of iridology a clear picture can be obtained of problems or weaknesses that may be present within the body. When I took a course in homeopathy we had an irodologyst present a lecture to the class. He took photos of each students eyes and the folowing class he proceded to talk about the photos that had been taken the week before. I did not personally know the irodologyst but he was able to reveal things that he saw in my photos that no one would know but me. For instance that I would often print with my left hand and write cursive with my right hand. Or that I was a heavy beer drinker when I was younger, and certain things like I had my appendix removed. I was blown away at the things he revealed about each of us, which we all verified. It definitely takes some training to know what you are doing, as with any other method of working with the body.

I see you are in Seattle area in July. If you are looking for a town to settle down in come to Port Townsend. A short (35min.) ferry ride from Seattle (its on Wash. state’s peninsula). Many CA residents have chosen this seaside town of approx. 10G. Great place to raise kids. A mixture of retirees, hippies, extremely health conscious and enviromentalism. No big box stores, natural beauty abounds, little crime, authentic Victorian bldgs. line our downtown street along the waterfront. There is a gorgeous state park (Ft. Worden) where u can camp or campgrd. rt. on water downtown for RV’s. See ptleader.com for more info.

I have tried iridology, but also combined it with blood testing, Naturopath, saliva, urine testing. I like to try everything, it was interesting, and i always do my own research on everything. I liked it, but i agree with you.
