IMPORTANT – Jonny 5 Escaped Last Night

Hey guys,

Sorry to post this on a “professional” blog, but Jonny 5, our cat, escaped from the RV last night. There was a window cracked and he managed to open it just enough to get out.

We’ve spent the morning searching for him and figured maybe we could get help from our fans. He means a ton to us. :-)

We’re in Santa Rosa around Lincoln and Mendecino (that’s where he got out). We’re concerned that he’s scared and will be hiding out for a while. We’ve postponed everything for the next few days to make sure that we cover enough ground around here.

I know a lot of you really like him, so there are a few ways you can help even if you’re not in Santa Rosa or anywhere near here!

1. If you’re in Santa Rosa, please send me a message with @kevingianni on Twitter. I’ll be searching with my iphone, so I’ll receive them and tell you where I am if you want to help.

2. If you’re in Santa Rosa, you can call vets, animal hospitals and the pound to continually check to see if anyone bring him in. (Just a simple google search will turn up these places and the phone numbers!)

3. If you’re NOT in Santa Rosa, you can help by calling local homes and businesses through the white pages online to tell them that there’s a missing cat in the neighborhood… (You need to use the Reverse Lookup function). Here’s close to where we are… Click here to get the Google Map. I don’t think he’d cross under the overpass on the highway, so I’m pretty sure he’s on the east side of 101.

With any communication, please include these details…

Name: Jonny 5
Sex: Male – Neutered
Color: Charcoal Grey
Eyes: Green-Blue
Weight: 9 Pounds

He has a blue collar with contact information. He will meow if you call… very loud in fact! If you do hear from him, please call us 203-739-0035 and leave a message.

Thanks so much and wish us luck in our search for our little friend! :-)

Live Awesome!
Kev

Kevin, I’ve read the best time to look for him is early morning and around dusk. I’m so sorry to hear that he’s gone. I will send good thoughts your way.

Please let us know when you find him

My cousins cat jumped 4 stories off her balcony and disappeared for five days. Maryjane came back exactly five days later and knew where her apartment was. Send mental visuals to Johnny5 so he can find you. I’ll be doing the same here. God Bless..

So sorry to hear this. Just an idea, you could try leaving some food out and have a silent paging alarm to alert you of anything that might come to it.

Kevin: I’ve heard that cats hide close to “home”. AND in situations like this, their normal behavior may not happen. Look under, around and on top of places you might not usually consider.

      Hope you find him soon.

      Kevin,
I hope you have found Jonny 5 by the time you get this message. In addition to checking early morning and around dusk, try checking around at about 2 am when things are quiet. He may have hidden himself somewhere he feels safe, and may not want to come out until there is less activity. I hope you find him soon.

My daughter’s cat was hiding, scared, near house under something for 2 wks. We’d see her run across our driveway late at night (when my teenagers were coming home) but couldn’t catch her. Sit outside RV at dusk, talk, maybe leave folding chairs out with yr blanket or other items on it (home smells) overnight. Leave food and water out each night. Our food was gone each morning and we thought it was cat, not random critters. Finally, one night, had intuitive feeling (in the rain, think it helped) to leave slider door cracked open and she came back, went upstairs soaking wet, and meowed at my daughter. Hope maybe similar stuff will work for you. Can you leave yr door open? We’ll all send good vibes to Jonny 5 – GO HOME, DON’T BE SCARED! Good luck.

Oh boy Kevin….I am very sure you are going to find him. What a great resource to be able to use here so don’t apologize….what better way to get the word out. I’m sure that someone out there will find him and report back. Until then try not to panic. Sending you good thoughts.

Dear Kevin and AnnMarie – Since I have two cats myself I know how you must feel at this point. Wish I were closer to assist with your search. Friends above have given you some good suggestions – particularly the one about late at night. When one of mine has wondered off he tends to show up late after many hours of concern of course on my part.

We all look forward to receiving your notice that Jonny 5 is safe and sound.

      K&A,
      Check the local McDonalds.
He might be searching for a new batch of french fry oil for the RV.
Maybe he sensed the tank was getting low.
A quick shot of levity for the situation.
I know he’ll turn up soon.

As the poem goes: (Bo Peep that is.) Kevin and AnnMarie had a cat, but didn’t know where he was at. Just leave him alone, and he’ll come home wagging is tail behind him. I am really not trying to be funny or cute by this little ditty, but animals like people have a certain sense of connecttion with their family and unless they meet up with something that prevents them from comming home; they know where their food and water comes from, especially the longer they live with you. I am thinking good thoughts for you and Jonny 5.

Our cat (who is no longer with us) would go everywhere with us in our car. One way we would get him to return if he ran off during an adventure was to burn incense or candles that were familiar to him and he would come back (no joke must be the power of sensory smell) just an idea if there is anything you do in your home scent wise that might be familiar to him.

Stay positive and good idea putting the word out were all hoping he returns safe, sound and soon.

      Kevin and Ann Marie,

To lure him back to the RV try putting his un-cleaned litter box outside. Cats recognize their own scent in it.

Oh my goodness I’ve just thought of something. I know it sounds weird but it worked for them…
A few years back I used to see a marvellous herbalist and he always prescribed flower remedies through dowsing. Well him and his partner lost their cat one day and looked everywhere. Then some friends used dowsing by holding the pendulum over points on the map and asking where the cat was. Sure enough the cat was where it indicated he was (he had climbed down and got stuck between a railway line and a high cliff or building – I can’t remember which). Apparently they could not have done the dowsing themselves because they were far too emotionally attached to the cat.

Okay so I know it sounds weird but please don’t shoot the messenger – I am just relaying the story! He was a very wise and genuine herbalist:-) I guess it is just a way of asking the Universe/your unconcious for help…

Guys! I hope you’re OK Anne-Marie. I’m sure Johnny 5 is more worried than you are – just make sure that when you call for him, call as though you’re playing with him – light and friendly. When my cat got lost I wandered around squarking with desperation like some scavenger bird or a banshee – I think this may have scared him more and driven him further away! LOL. But in my worry I wasn’t listening to my cries. He ended up coming home after 3 nights – he was missing his collar and was very distraught but soooooo happy to be home.
Hopefully Johnny’s back by dinner time.
      All our love from NZ.

If you have trouble, let me know and I’ll post it for you. When animals get lost here, I post through our local mother’s club. Very powerful. I will find out about the Santa Rosa Mother’s club and see if I can post something. Think positive and do whatever you can think of. We will all bring him back!

Hi Kevin, this is Lucas from the Easter potluck. I work just a few blocks from your present location (I’m at Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic-534 B Street) and live about 8 blocks away so I will keep my eyes peeled and also ask my fellow therapists if they have seen him. Could you maybe post a photo of Jonny 5 so I could print it out and show it to people tomorrow? I’m so sorry this happened. I’m sure he will turn up soon–cats are great survivors and there are a lot of good crawls spaces under homes in that area for cats to find shelter (not many basements in California!!). It’s also good that you are asking others to help in the search as I have found that things have a much better chance of being found if we do ask for others’ help!!! I’ll be over there tomorrow for an appt. with Shea and help afterwards if you still haven’t found him.

      All the best,
      Lucas

Hi Kevin & Annmarie, Lucas again. I had another idea–if you could get me a photo, I would make some posters and put them up around the Lincoln and Mendo area. There are a lot of good, conscientious people living in that neighborhood. Also we could distribute it to the surrounding businesses. There are 4 bike shops within 3-4 blocks of you and bike riders tend to see things that motorists don’t.

Sending you energy for your search and hope for your hearts,
