Thank goodness that was a joke. I was saying to myself during the making what a weird recipe and did not fully catch on until near the end. Speaking of coconuts, my question would be how do you guys open your young thai coconuts. I love the coconut water but am intimidated by opening them.

…I had a feeling when I saw the title, but I wasn’t sure until Kevin said it smelled awful.

Okay – I am SO gullible! I didn’t catch on until you said it was April’s Fool!

That was so mean – I will never believe you again. April Fools!

Honestly though – that was cute, I totally believed you. Good one, I love jokes!

ROFL… make a chopped salad but you have to let it sit in the fridge for 6 days… LOLOL… I’ll let you know in a week what I think… ;-)

Wow, did not see that one coming. I did however wonder if you guys had eaten some cali style raw brownies and got the munchies ;) Good show.
    Thank you guys,

I completely fell for it! I kept thinking why we need the salad to sit for a week before we use it but I trusted you two, your the experts! that was hilarious!!!! Good one!

o.k. you guys really got me. Half way through the show I’m thinking God I’m not going to ever make a soup like that and then I scrolled down to see what others had said and that ’s when I discovered it was an April Fools Joke. So then I continued to watch it in humour. Well done. The real recipe does sound yummy though. Thanks for bringing a bit of humor and laughter into my home today.

You had me to the end! I was SO confused – chopped salad, garlic sauerkraut?? Why would anyone put those in there??

    Granola? Probiotics? What is this??

    OH!!! Yeah, you got me!

  13. Mara
    9:03 pm on April 1st, 2009

I figured something was wrong when AM put in the probiotic with the capsule and everything. Ick!

I totally adored this little joke. You are great at making us believe you….I didn’t realized that was something wrong with this recipe until you added the Stevia at the end. Although I never heard about such a combination like: cabbage, mustard, date, coconut and an old staled salad…but I’m used to your creative way to incite our imagination…
Oh, well…you made me smile and I think you had a blast shooting this video.

I forgot it was April fools day. You two really had me worried with the terrible dead ingredients you were using; it’s nice to know you were kidding. I’ll be ready for you next year this time.

    9:45 pm on April 1st, 2009

I like it when you make recipes that are not 100% raw. Many of us out here are not 100% raw. I am 60 to 80% and love your show.
    thanks

    10:04 pm on April 1st, 2009

I got it that this thing was related to April fool at the moment when you started putting stinky cabbage in that “soup”.

  21. Susan
    10:12 pm on April 1st, 2009

LOL – I thought you two had really lost it on this one. I’m pretty open to trying new things and even thought maybe the chopped salad needed to be fermented or something before adding to the soup. When you showed the color of the soup you lost me at that point. I thought this was one recipe I would definitely be trying.

Thanks for making me laugh. By the way – AnnMarie looked bright eyed and energetic today. It’s great to see you two thriving in your new environment.

    Peace.

    12:36 am on April 2nd, 2009

Hey, it’s Paul and Dianne from Austin!

Dianne: I knew almost immediately, having experience with preparing and eating tons of raw food recipes, this was way off base. With every ingredient you to added, I became much more convinced this has to be a joke of sorts. The kicker for me was that 6 or 7 day old salad that I know Ann Marie would never use in a recipe. And, this goes for you to Kev.

Paul: I thought with Kevin around, there are no left overs, so the 6 or 7 day old salad had me wondering. It appears you may have invented an all natural pest control. I was feeling ugh during the recipe preparation.

    Good Night!

    LOL! You guys got me!
Best april fools joke ever, by far!
    I didn’t think it looked very appetizing…
my jaw was dropping in disbelief by the end of it right before you said, “APRIL FOOLS!”

    I’m such a fool!!

Yeah, the kraut got me piqued, then, I thought… Well, maaaaaaybe it’s the GARLIC in it, and on down the path I went with you two… More & more perplexed as the seconds ticked by, but at your side until the end! :-)
_SO_ glad you two didn’t TASTE IT before announcing the joke! :-)

My first April Fools prank today!
I don’t feel so bad now that I was not the only one fooled right up to the end.
Sure glad I was not eating anything while I watched this one because my taste buds were feeling worse with all those wierd combinations you were throwing in. Yuck!
    Good one guys!

Somehow I got taken off your mail list and missed the last 3 days of your shows. Now I’m catching up.

My question is about the Green colored (Evert-Fresh Brand) plastic bags that are supposed to keep fruits & vegetables fresher longer. They really do seem to work, but do they give off some kind of gas, or other toxin since they are plastic?

Please let me know since I’ve been re-using them for almost a year now and want to avoid any more chemicals.

    Thank you,

i watched the show…. as annmarie kept adding stuff that was not in the ingredients list i thought you both were on a different planet or at least using a different page!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as you kept adding weird

You totally had me! I always put saurcrout in my energysoup…
The only unusual thing I noted was that Kevin – for once – had his attention 100% in the recipe today.

I was totally planning on trying that recipe. Why not? With some coconut milk… Exept I’ll go with fresh sallad, and maybe skip the Stevia. ;)

I was wondering why the recipe didn’t match with what you were adding. :) I figured it out by reading a few of the posts as I was watching.

Great April Fool’s joke! I began to catch on when AnnMarie looked around and said, “Mm it smells good” with a look that said, “Ew that really stinks.”

Then I got more suspicious when you guys started saying that certain things stink and laughing. That was so funny!

I also thought something was fishy when you didn’t use the coconut.

    Thanks for the laugh.

Oh my gosh! You guys had me right up to the end! I was sitting here thinking “Wow there is no way I’m trying that recipe. SIX DAY OLD SALAD, are they out of their minds???” Then looking at the finished product I started to get queasy. =)

That was good! Thanks for the laugh!

Beautifully done. I think that it is great that you guys are having fun and not being extreme super serious militant raw foodist. I see you as whole foodist. We all need not to take ourselves so seriously. The Rawfood yahoo site I read in Seattle is full of serious raw fooders and food hygenist. I get tired of them taking it all super seroius and not taking in the whole picture of just health and all the diversity of foods, elixirs, herbs and fermented foods that this world offers us. Love the cat scratching the couch tearing it up like mine. Thanks for all you do you two.

I didn’t catch on at all, it’s April 3 today though, April fools wasn’t in my mind anymore.
Good thing I wasn’t going to make it anyways. Too many ingredients that I don’t have, and I didn’t want to buy.

Too funny, it took me a while to catch on because I am a week late watching this one. Right around the chopped salad, I had decided that this was not a recipe for me. ;)

OK, it took almost a month for me to realize this was an April Fool’s joke, how sad is that? I didn’t see the video, just the recipe, and it did sound interesting. I have a coconut and everything, came back to print out the recipe, and oops… hehe. Perhaps I should just make Pina Coladas instead. :-)

Well, I was so confused through the whole video and I was making conclusions that you are not perfect in the raw food world! Well, in the very end when the truth came out I LAUGHED and LAUGHED and then I woke up in the middle of the night and laughed again! :)

Thank you for showing your WONDERFUL humor once again! I love you both! You are AWESOME!
