It's retro but I like the Beach Boys. I wonder if people who are tone deaf to musical notes and can't sing on pitch have the jaw and neck out-of-balance problem to the brain? Even though some people may not be able to go into alpha, everyone goes through thetha just before falling asleep and just before waking up and during sleep the brain waves are in delta during dream time.

Dave Matthews! Pumps me up, calms me down, keeps me seeking, keeps me dreaming, makes me happy, gets me going! I'm dying to see the band in Central Park and Red Rock someday! For now, I follow him in the south! Good question!

My favorite artist is my wife, Tri!!! Awesome artist. Different from what you probably meant though. She does love the Beatle's music. Huge fan. I still remember Ed Sullivan. Om my gosh. That was a little while ago.

When I play the Shakuhachi, to get back to music and the brainwaves, I go into a quiet place inside that is so still. I'm quite amazing really.

Wow! That video was super interesting! I don't really have a favorite artist. I find that my taste in music and movies has been changing dramatically as I become more intune with my body. Right now I have gotten to the point that I am most interesting in world beat music or music that uses a lot of natural sounds.

Interesting show. Very provocative. I couldn't help but wonder what factors contribute to the cerebral- alpha wave disconnect that Phil was speaking of.

I would never be able to pick one favorite artist, but I can echo a few other choices mentioned above;

Loreena McKennit( Incredible live performance from her briliant band, too), Deva Premal & Miten, Issa (jane siberry)

and I would also add;

Sheila Chandra - music that transports - amazing vocal range
Caroline Lavelle -Amazing Celloist, haunting vocals on celtic ballads as well as some lovely trancy ambient sounds
Ayub Ogada - Gifted Kenyan artist(love his song "Kothbiro")
Habib Koite & Bamada - Mali band- incredible live shows

Dave Carter-(& T. Grammer) beautiful singer and lyricist who tragically passed away a few years ago. Love his albums created with his partner Tracy Grammer. Drum Hat Buddha, and Tanglewood Tree.

I could go on, but I have said much too much already... ;)
