Raw Food Chef Ani Phyo Reveals Her Favorite Raw Dessert Recipe – The Renegade Health Show Episode #261

At Expo West, we found Ani Phyo and asked her to do an interview…

She was gracious to accept and so I had the opportunity to ask her about her favorite raw food dessert, favorite salad dressing and how bizarre it was to be on the TLC show “Bizarre Foods.”

She also gives recipes for all of her favorites!

Take a watch…

Your question of the day: What are you doing for your fitness?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comments now!

Please check out Ani’s new raw food dessert book by clicking here (will be out in May!)

Bodyweight circuits–lots of pushups, burpees, squats, jumping jacks, etc. Also I do the circuits non stop. I’ll pick 4 or 5 exercises and do 10-12 circuits of usually 10-20 of each exercise. I’ve taken 1 day off in the last 2 months so I work out most days.

My exercise–rebounder with hand weights. I also love to hike in the mountains. I try to get a good workout in a couple of times a week. Wish I could say more, but in reality–that’s it. But, I’m 62 years old and very blessed to be in great health. A lot of it has to do with all the raw food I eat! Thanks for the show! Ginny

I do workout all day long – walking from one room to another: taking care of kids, preparing meals, laundry( I have to start counting how many miles I do every day during those routins). Walking during shopping, GARDENING. Also weight lifting: almost 30 pounds toddler and moving bags with soil, compost, organic manure and sand for planting something in the front and back yards.

    Hi Kevin and Ann Marie,
Thanks so much for interviewing Ani “the Raw Diva of LA!” I love her books and videos! I’m a big fan of hers and can’t wait till she tours the East Bay again.
Regarding her question about excercise. I’m a total Bikram Yoga girl. I love the heat and have found that since I went raw I don’t need to drink water at all during class. I know that has to do with the amount of water in the food I eat, and the fact that my body type-dosha which is dominant Kapha retains water more than other body types. I do love my tall glass of water after class though!
Thanks again. I love the show!

I am involved in a “bootcamp” type workout 3 days a week. It usually begins with with a short warm-up run. then we do weights, steps & stretching. I also do 2 or 3 yoga classes each week. I occasionally like to ride my bike when the weather is nice – My favorite ride is about 16 miles long with a few hills. I also jog a few miles when I’m on the road and don’t have equipment with me. If there is a pool or lake nearby, I’m in it. A typical work day has me loading & unloading trucks, climbing ladders and lifting equipment. So I believe I’ve got my exercise thing under control.

    Hey Kevin –

How can I get one of those green “Renegade Health Show” T-shirts that you & Annmarie have been wearing lately?

  17. Sita

Every morning I start with oilpulling, often followed by using the netipot to clean my sinuses; then shower, to be ‘pure’ to start the exercises. Because I’m still healing from ulcerative colitis I watch my energy level, not exercise too much. But the following gives me a boost for the day: meridian qigong, treating the lungs, large intestine, stomach and spleen – these are choreographed movements in which head rolling is included, twisting the spine, bending over, etc. all while conscious breathing (out of toxins, in of healing qi) at specific poses within this kind of ‘dance’.
This gives enough warming up to do the surya namaskar, the yoga sun prayer four times (will building this up in time).
In the day I try to have an hour walk in the forest nearbye in a good pace – often I combine this with a mantra. Especially when there is sun I go for a walk.

    Hi Kevin and Ann Marie,

Have been meaning to put a comment here for ages. I just want to say that I love what you do and you really brighten my day. I even mention you in my gratitude journal!

I enjoyed seeing Ani on your show. She speaks so well and radiates good health.

As for exercise, I just started back at Bikram yoga last night after a 3 month break from any form of exercise. I used to ride my bike to work (2 hours each day) and do a little gym work. I don’t have a car so I do walk a lot. Hopefully will be ramping up the excercise from here on.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Cheers
    Jen

I do yoga once per week and I use my bowflex 3 times per week and then I occasionally throw in some swimming, tennis, and other miscellaneous sports. I also ride my bike when the weather is reasonable, I walk my dog, and at work I get in a fair amount of walking (it’s at least 1/4 mile from one end of place to the other and 8 stories) and stair climbing most days. And I can’t forget about my Nintendo Wii – Wii Sports and Wii Fit can be a good, fun workout as well. So I have a core workout and then I try to mix in as many other things as I can also.

I am a gym goer since it is way too cold in Manitoba right now to be outside without loosing limbs! I try to go about 4 times a week for cardio and weights (don’t usually have time to do both in same visit) and try to go for walks in between weather permitting :)

I’d love to try that Lemon Tahini Dressing, but I didn’t hear one of the ingredients! She said:

    1 cup tahini
    1/2 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup ?????? (sounded like “raz”???)
    little bit of water.

If anyone caught that, please post it!

    Thanks, Connie

Thank you Renegade Health show! I absolutely adore this raw community, all the information and all your inspiring friends! Ani is a wonderful green goddess god-send! She has this sweet enticing approach that creates such an effortless unconscious addiction to perfect healthy foods! Sincere thanks!

For exercise on a regular weekly basis I roller skate a 2hour practice of drills & endurance 2-3 times a week (for the Arizona Derby Dames, http://www.azderbydames.com). And I practice Bikram yoga at least one to two classes daily.

Also, my partner and I have a love affair with bikes and ride them EVERYWHERE! Someday we hope to move and ride them to all those wonderful california farmer’s markets! Until then, we enjoy all your shows!

Lots of raw love, Honey :)

Every morning after doing neti pot, oil pulling, and tongue scrapping, I warm up with a few stretching exercises and then do the five Tibetan rites that I learned from Angela Stokes on the RevitaLive Plan. Later on I go for an hour walk while enjoying the sunset by the beach. And I’m also doing some dumbbell sets for my arms every other day.
