Today, we found ourselves in a position where we needed to make a quick meal…
We’re finally in the RV, but we don’t have water or an operating bathroom!
It’s been kind of an interesting situation considering we have about 100 things to do before we leave and only have 6 days left.
But we’re making it happen…
Take a look and see…
Your question of the day: Do you have an emergency quick meal recipe or idea?
Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comment now!
BTW: You can get chlorella tablets at The Raw Food World!

Throw together meal . . We usually have a dehydrator bread on hand (most of the time it’s Ani Phyo’s Black Sesame Seed Bread) – so we can throw together sandwiches made with sprouts, tomatoes and avocadoes.
Thanks again for sharing Wendy’s Chopped Salad recipe. We’ve made it twice. Tonight I tossed in a leek, so good. I’ve been adding an avocado with EVOO.
As avid 5th wheelers – I’m so excited for you two! I didn’t save them, but I’ve been to sites on “bookdocking” (camping for free, lots of times on BLM property).
Maybe we’ll see you out camping when you make it to the beautiful Pacific Northwest (We’re in WA).

no problem viewing and you two are so cute together. Love the cat too. what kind of dressing did you use? Thanks guys
hanging in a storage place is a good idea. wow, it’s gated and locked. Better than Walmart parking lot.

I couldn’t view it either initially. But it’s working now. I made a “throw it together” salad last night out of all the veggies in the fridge that were going to expire soon. My family thought it was the best salad I’ve made so far! You guys look cute in your matching beanies!

My recipe is: white cabbage, cucumbers, dill, sweet or green onions, salt, sunflower oil, (could be some carrots too).
12:38 am on February 17th, 2009
same as you …. I throw whatever is on hand together and season it with oil, lemon, a little honey sometimes and some sea salt, or I make a flavorful dressing. m-m-m-m- good!! I saw your clip fine.
7:02 am on February 17th, 2009
that was a great episode, most of my life is on the fly not planned so this was WAY appreciated!! a quick fix for me, i have a mix: sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, raisons and more of a meal last week was when there are no more salad greens or much of anything in the house for lunch…
chopped broccoli
cut up cucumber
cilantro
a bit of raw cheese ( this really helps me feel satisfied, probably beacuse cheese is one the hardest things for me to give up- so i don’t deny myself, i just add a few tiny tiny pieces atop my salads…)
dressing of choice
simple but good!!!
Kevin/AnneMarie:
i haven’t been on the computer much at all, are you guys coming thru Maine? we are in a ski town and there is an amazing thing happening here for the next step in health in our little mountain village… you are welcome to park here…(ps i don’t know if you got my message, but i am the one that called with my family while in Bethel,CT that wanted to come by and see you both and your RV…) and actually now we are in Bethel, Maine…
just thought I’d ask and identify myself… God Bless and Safe Travels…

Thanks for another great idea for busy people who make health a priority not just an option. The salad looked good enough to try. Quick enough too.
We are excited to be with you both on your journey in the Kale Whale. Love your energy and sweetness.
My quick meal is chopped nuts & fruit, or hummus with sprouts and sugar snaps, or a leftover veggie vitamix soup.

Chopped salad with whatever I have on hand is my quick meal, too. A common one is tomato, cucumber, yellow bell pepper, serrano pepper, scallion and cilantro with lime juice and cumin. –the same ingredients blended makes my gaspacho–

Loved the show and I can totally relate to the no water/bathroom situation. We have the same when we go upcountry in July to cater a music festival. Luckily we create a kitchen outside to feed everyone. I tried the cauliflower chopped salad and it was wonderful so it is now my go to meal. I also love to do a fruit salad….so yummy! Hope you are both well and I am really enjoying watching you in the RV..hope it has been everything you have hoped for. Take care on the road, Linda ;O)

Looks great guys! Stay warm.
9:17 am on February 17th, 2009
Try this variation on the same theme. It will warm you on those cold winter days. I call it Rainbow Miso Soup. Grate all into a big bowl:
red cabbage
baby bok choy
arame
scallions
cilantro
red pepper
pressed garlic
Pour warm miso broth over the top and drizzle with seasame oil.
I use a combination of red and yellow miso. At least one tablespoon each for one big bowl of soup. Don’t boil the water before you pour it over the miso to maintain the beneficial enzymatic action of miso.
Consider purchasing a hand held mandolin grater with a ceramic knife edge. It grates much finer than the food processor and it’s easy to clean, cheap, and takes up just a bit of drawer space.
Bon Voyage!

You know, I did not realize what a handy-dandy, stomach-saving gadget the food processor really is. It gets you eating in “no time”. And when you’re hungry you definitely want to cut down on prep time. Thanks guys for your show….I always learn something that will improve the quality of my life just by watching you both. Good luck to you and stay safe (and warm). Bless You!

No problem viewing the show for me. I have a show idea…..”what’s in your refrigerator and pantry?” I had never heard of arame sea noodles…since i’m not 100%, this is a good product for me…thanks.

Great video – improvisation is an important skill to have in the kitchen.
It’s not a raw food recipe, but my last minute meal is:
When leftovers are not an option, then I will usually opt for a veggie omelette because I can make one in about 10 minutes. We always have eggs in the fridge, and we buy them from the Twist of Fate Farm up the road.
I could eat one every day
I can’t wait for you to get the show on the road!

The web show needs some more brightness, so while you capture the video by side have some light source and it will make every itemvisible

I usually have nori and make a wrap with sprouts, avo, tomato, cuke–
I also have some sort of dehydrated crackers around with a dip such as salsa. Since I make a lot of food for everybody during the week, I usually can find almost anything. There are very few mistakes

You’ve turned into pioneers! Lucky you don’t have to look for a place to cook your meat. Thanks for doing your shows in the midst of all your madness. It will smooth out.

My emergency quick-meal…
avocado
lime juice
Celtic sea salt
This does not even require a bowl, simply mash the avocado in the skin; one half at a time. Squirt some lime juice and a pinch of salt into the hole formerly occupied by the pit… mash together with a fork.
Great breakfast on the fly when you find yourself lacking in time!

I unfortunately don’t have a recipe just some comments and questions I hope you can help with:
Hi I have been receiving conflicting advice on some supplements and whole food supplements and I would like to get the opion of some other people:
I used to take CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) I was however advised that I should not supplement this nutrient or enzyme as it is produced by the liver in conjunction with 200 others and if you supplement the liver stops making it, which affects the production of many other enzymes?
I have read so many good things about Spirulina an Chlorella Mike Adams (the Health Ranger) has written a book about them and there seems to be many studies and people that promote them. There are a couple of prominent alternative health figure in Australia who say they should be avoided. I have included some informastion from one of the wesites.
Chlorella is an algae which has been promoted as a chelating agent. However studies done by Quig at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine failed to show any positive benefit on urine or faecal excretion of mercury.
Spirulina is an algae which has been promoted as a vegetarian source of vitamin B12. However it appears that most of this B12 comes from the faeces of birds which is collected when the spirulina is harvested.
It is the opinion of clinicians at the Emerson Health and Wellness Centre that algae such as chlorella and spirulina should be avoided. We do not believe that there are any non-toxic algae. This is particularly so when the blood of people taking chlorella & spirulina has been analysed by live blood microscopy. In our opinion, liquid chlorophyll is a better alternative.
I would appreciate any added info or comments
Thanks

Hello,
My Quick Recipe is:
Lettuce
Avocado
Berries like strawberries,raspberries,bluberries,ect…
Dates
and raw agave nectar
It’s really yummy
P.S I love your show =^..^=

When ever I throw a bunch of fresh raw vegetables together for a salad I have one little trick that pulls the dish altogether. I always add chopped dates and walnuts or in Kevin’s case any other nut. The sweetness of the dates makes the meal more complete!

We always have tortillas on hand (my partner is not a raw foodie like me) but if I am in a rush I just through whatever veggies we have on hand into a tortilla with an oil (even just a bit of olive oil, doesn’t matter), a few seeds, roll it up and VOILA! A wrap full of yummy food
10:01 am on February 23rd, 2009
I like to make the raw hummus that I learned from you, with a few modifications – I add 2 scallions, cayenne (or some other hot pepper), about 1/3 cup fresh parsley, and if I don’t have enough or any lemon juice I add apple cider vinegar. I need to make some of this tonight, can’t wait!

Well, I usually just throw together a salad with whatever i have at hand, it usually comprises of the following:
spinach
avocado
capsicum
seeds
olive oil
salt
pepper
and fresh herbs
Thats the basics anyway – anything can be added!
