When I was in Ojai, California, Matt Monarch gave me a tour of his online raw food store…

I love seeing how businesses work and Matt gave me the inside scoop.

One thing I like about what Matt does, is that he makes sure that he keeps prices low so you can afford some of these health-saving products.

It’s refreshing to know :-)

Here’s a tour…

Your question of the day: What products do you use and would like to get a discount on?

Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comment now!

BTW: Matt and I are now offering a LIFETIME 12% discount code to any active Inner Circle member. That means as long as you’re a member of the Inner Circle, you can get the discount.

    Hey guys…

nice captain crunchy show. You hit the nail right on the head. Believe it or not, for most people… its all about economics. The question should be whether people are willing to pay more for quality?

And, just because a product is not certified organic, does not necessarily mean its not organic. Getting certified organic anything that originates from a foreign country is a controversial subject matter.

Anyway, the market is flooded w/ products…. What could u sell that is not your catalog? I am looking for a nice blend of flower seeds for sprouting.

Merry Christmas… Did u know nutiva.com is giving away free 15g samples of #hemp protein to my twitter followers. Just email help1@nutiva.com subject: 50% sample

u don’t have to be my follower to get the sample… anybody whose into hemp in the raw community would qualify for the free sample.

Hey Matt, One product I wish someone would carry, that I would love to get, is a kale chip that does not have cashews/nuts in it since I am allergic to nuts :( The “cheesy kale chips always sound so good to me, but I always have to pass. If you can talk to that company that makes them to develop a kale chip without the nuts I would love it!!! I would think that there are a lot of people like me out there. Thanks mucho amigo.

    Love your show Kev :)

Matt, I just placed my first order with you this weekend, liked seeing your store and it is nice to put a face with who you are dealing with online.
You have a great line of products and I have no idea what else you would need to add.
Kevin, found your site a few weeks ago while searching for a recipe on youtube and would like to personally thank you for site and the effort and passion you put in to it.
I am trying to make a hard shift to all raw and your site has been a big help and inspiration.

It was nice to see Matt’s warehouse. I ordered a few things from Matt and love it, especially kelp noodles, I can eat it everyday–so delicious! And love the prices! I think Matt has the lowest prices comparing to other raw food businesses. What I wish Matt would carry is sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Thanks, Kevin, for the video!

    Dear Kevin:

You have the “You Tube” plastered over the bottom half of the area where one is suppose to sign up for the freebies preventing me from signing up for this. Does this mean you really didn’t want us to sign for this or what’s the story?

    Regards,
    Mary

Kevin, thank you so much for the good energy on your shows. Do you have any info on Vit D3? Are there any raw natural sources? I have checked books I have and am stumped. Seems like everyone is ranting and raving about how important it is for so many functions. I live in the cold, gray, midwest area. Any suggestions? Thanks for sharing your life in this venue. I love Matt’s website and store, so many amazing products to choose from.
Would be great if Matt could carry IRISH MOSS (great for desserts, smoothie…) and SEA PALM.
Different kinds of fresh dates as well, good to use as a natural sweetener.
Thanks and happy holidays to both of you.

Thank you for the tour, Matt and Kevin!
I’ve ordered stuff from Matt before, and it is one of my favorite on-line raw stores. Matt does have the best prices compared to other raw food on-line stores out there. So, I am really excited about the 12% deal – that really makes my choice a super-easy one. I wish Matt would carry a high quality olive oil, sunflower seeds, maybe some sprouting mixes, and I am all for the nut-free kale chips! But the selection he offers now is quite impressive as it is…
Thank you for the awesome video Kevin!

Hey Matt- Thank you so much, that was really informative and inspired me to order some stuff. I love how many different products you have Matt, that is so cool!! One product that you don’t have is green mussel lipids which can be purchased at Moxxor.com. I know that no other company distributes it besides the company itself that sells it. And maybe more importantly it is not vegan. However it is unbelievably powerful and worth requesting anyway. It is the strongest anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and greatest omega 3 supplement in the world. Infact, it takes 472 fish oil capsules to equal one green mussel lipid capsule! Mike Adams from Natural News endorses it as well, and speaks very highly about how unique and truly amazing that it is. So anyway, it would be great if you could carry it somehow. If not, that’s totally understandable. But please go to the website and check it out. Thanks so much!!

Raw Food World does not seem to carry glass drinking straws. I really enjoy using mine. The best price I have found out in the google-able universe is $2.30 per straw.

I think Matt has a great selection, but, I must disagree, he is not giving a fair price for his inventory and doing a service to the raw food community. He’s charging more than many of the other sites out there.

The only thing I have bought from the Raw Food World was one of Angela’s ebooks. The first time I bought one of her books was before she and Matt were working together, and I received an automatic e-mail with the .pdf attached. I bought a second book from her after they started working together. That time I received an automatic message from Angela stating:

“Thanks very much for your order Heidi :) I’m delighted that you found some
items you wanted in the RawReform Store. I hope you receive your package
very soon and that you enjoy your purchases… ;)
    All blessings,
    Angela. xxx

P.S. You’ll get a coupon in your package that will work on all future
    orders – ENJOY :)

There was no .pdf attached. I contacted raw food world, talked with Pam on the phone, and was instructed to e-mail customer service explaining the situation. I did, and two days later, I received an e-mail from Lindsay with my book, but I still haven’t seen the coupon, yet. On one hand, two days is not long to wait for something that isn’t an immediate need. On the other hand, what a hassle it was to wait for two days just for a .pdf file to be e-mailed to me, and to have to spend the time on the phone to customer service and writing a redundant email request. And what a disappointment to be promised a coupon for my customer loyalty and not receive it!

So, I am very happy for Angela and Matt, but I preferred doing business with Angela better before they started working together.

Here is an example of the cost comparison on the first four items I looked for on Matt’s site and compared with other sites where I do shop.

    Kelp Noodles
    from Sea Tangle $2.50 – $2.75 each
    from Matt $3.95 each
    Matt is charging 44% – 58% more.

    Colema Board Tubing Assembly
From Colema Boards of California $39.00
    From Matt $44.95
    Matt is charging 15% more.

    Tribest Personal Blender
    From 2-Life $64.95
    From Matt $79.99
    Matt is charging 23% more.

    Lucuma Powder 16 oz.
    From Natural Zing $14.95
    From Matt $15.95
    Matt is charging 7% more.

For the items above, even with the ($120 per year) Inner Circle membership’s 12% discount to Matt’s site, a person would still be paying 5% more on average to shop at the Raw Food World. So, if you listened to this post (like I did) thinking about joining Kevin’s Inner Circle to save some money on your raw goodies, let the buyer beware! If you’d join the Inner Circle to hear about the secret stuff Kevin won’t tell us until we pony up, then the discount would be helpful when shopping at the Raw Food World. Without it, for the items above, we would pay 20% more on average than if we shopped online at other sites.

Kevin, it undermines my trust in the information you share when your statements are not consistent with the information that is available to us all. And that is a shame, because a lot of people are listening to you, and trying to learn and improve their health. Don’t let business relationships get between you and the truth you speak. You cannot always bend with the direction of whatever wind blows most proximately. I hope that your factual errors in this webcast were just a misunderstanding on your part. Perhaps you might consider checking your information more carefully before broadcasting it.

If your viewers lose their confidence in you, it will be a loss to us all.

I couldn’t disagree more with Heidi’s take on the high cost prices and losing confidence in you, Kevin. I think the prices are great, the service is wonderful and products are as high quality as they come. But the most important thing of all, is that there is an integrity and passion that you have in supporting raw and living foods! I think that it is abundantly clear that both you, Kevin and Matt love what you are doing and truly want to support people in their journey to achieving amazing health. Kevin, I love your honesty and support to so many people, people that you don’t even know. You are doing such a service to all! Please do not stop or get discouraged by other’s negative opinions. You are a true inspiration and a warrior in the health crusade!

Love, don’t Hate! Anyway, It would be great if you could carry Dr Ohhira’s probiotics. It is such a high quality probiotic. The different strains of bacteria ar fermented on different organic fruits and vegtables. It is a top of the line probiotic and I would love if you could carry it. Infact, it is fermented on wild fruits, seaweeds, vitamins, minerals and a lactic acid blend. Oh, and herbs. This process can take up to five years. It is vegan, non-GMO, and non-dairy. This is the coolist probiotic ever! Hope you can carry it!

Hi Kevin, Thank you for all of the great shows this week! You guys are so giving of you’re time and knowledge. And it’s all for free! I’m sure you have helped so many people with all the information you give out. Everyone has to make a living, so why not make a living doing what you do best. I ordered from Matt’s business several times when I lived in the US. I found the products and services to be of very good quality, I’m not sure about price comparison, but I would definitely order from him again. I live in the UK now, so I don’t think I would be able to ship raw food in, but even if I could, I’m not sure it would be worth it with the price of shipping. Anyway I totally appreciate you guys! You are doing a great job of educating the world on how to eat properly. I wish you the best of luck! & have a Merry “Raw” Christmas! Love Elaine xxxx

I’ve tried a couple times to order from Matt’s website(awesome products). But I’m in Ottawa Canada so it seems his online store doesn’t accept orders? At the end of processing the order always says “no delivery available for this address”. I would really like to join the Inner Circle too, but then I would not get the 12% discount.
Is there a possiblity Canadians can someday order from your site?

Heidi, I almost deleted your post this morning. The reason why is not because what it says, but because of the energy behind it. I sense it’s not positive. I understand you may have had a bad experience with customer service and completely understand.

I consider this blog a place for sharing and learning and support. Kind of like my house.

If you came into my house and said that above in the tone that it’s written, I’d likely not let you in again! ;-)

In terms of pricing… I think you missed the boat a bit… :-)

Most people shop at these stores for a one stop shop… that’s why it’s valuable. It’s foolish to mix and match because of shipping costs.

    Take a look at this…

If you were to order EACH one of these products from the different stores here’s what would happen…

For the Kelp, you’d have to buy a pack of 12 @ 33.00 and $9.54 shipping.

    For the Colema Tubing:

    39.00 Plus shipping (I can’t find the price, but let’s assume $10.00)

Tribest is $64.95 (but this is a holiday sale special).

Lucuma Powder would be 14.95 plus 7.18 Shipping.

    SOOOOO….

If you were to mix and match you’d have to pay… $178.62 to get all what you mentioned above. (Keep in mind this is with the 12 pack of Kelp Noodles)

If you were to get it from Matt’s store all in one…

$158.84 including shipping. (Yes, this is 11 kelp noodles short, but your example isn’t realistic because you broke it down for the bulk pricing.) This is before the discount… with a discount it would come to $139.78.

But even if you were to pay for the 12… that would be only about 37 more… so 195.84. And with a 12% discount, you’re looking at… $172.34. Which is still $6.00 less than your original tab. :-)

PLUS… all the time you saved by shopping in one place. :-)

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for not deleting my post. From the remarks you made about considering your blog your house, and how I would not be welcome in it again, I will not post again on your blog unless I receive your consent. I know you can block me, but I am happy to honor your space and will not make that necessary. The thoughts I am about to share below are mainly for you. Feel free to delete them if you think it is appropriate.

The thing about blogs is, they open up a dialogue, and not everyone agrees on everything. Dissent is not necessarily bad energy. What I shared, I shared with an open and positive heart and mind out of compassion and concern for members of our shared community. I meant no disrespect to you or anyone else I mentioned.

I would also appreciate it if, in the future, you would not make assumptions about me or label me or my energy. I am not a public figure, and we do not know each other. I was sharing the facts of my experience. I did not label you, Matt, or your businesses. What I did do was share accurate numbers, I shared how I felt about my experiences, and I shared my concerns with your community of support, of which I am an enthusiastic member. I gave you the feedback you requested, in this very dialogue box, where you encourage us to ‘Speak your mind’. If you do not want to hear any dissenting voices, you should say so on your show, like you did with the agave nectar issue. After a series of shows and the resulting debate, you finally expressed that you were fed up with people defending their sugar, and that you did not want to hear about it anymore. That was clear.

As you know, we all deal with challenges in life. Having a challenging experience does not mean that the person deserved it, or that s/he is a negative person, or has bad energy. It’s just life. As Happy Oasis said on the Rawkathon, “Every day we have an opportunity to perceive reality however we wish. We can turn every experience around into something positive.” My way of making this post a positive experience was to 1) listen and learn, and 2) look into the information you shared, and 3) post my feedback directly to the source. I have been watching your show for a long time now. So, my question for you is, how can you make the concerns I shared, and the criticism I offered, a positive experience for you?

Now about those numbers… I opened up my spreadsheet. For the sake of facts and accuracy:

My total from shopping at the other stores and paying the separate shipping would be $177.65.

My total from shopping at The Raw Food World and paying one shipping charge would be $206.29, as I am not an Inner Circle member.

If I were to become an Inner Circle member, and the discount applied to the merchandise and not the shipping charges listed on The Raw Food World, my cost would be $183.70. If the discount applied to the shipping charges as well as the merchandise, my cost would be $181.54.

My finances are such that I can and do shop at different stores to save $5 and stay organic, and I’ll definitely shop at different stores online to save over $20. I am organized, and the extra time spent is negligible for me.

  22. Kevin Gianni
    2:27 pm on December 23rd, 2008

We could go back and forth about all of this… who intended what, etc. I checked the #’s again and I did mess up on the discount on the shipping… so you’d add 1.45 or so to my ending number. :-) That’s still less.. at least with my totals.

I just don’t believe that “pony up” and “buyer beware!” are positive words. :-)

Just my thoughts, you’re welcome to continue to post!

I think the positive lesson for all of us is to be careful with connotations of words and phrases used!

who wants a shot of wheatgrass?

i believe that sometimes it is worth it to spend a few extra bucks to support a company that you you can trust.

matt is obviously passionate about every aspect of raw food, from promoting the highest quality nutrition to using and reusing as many recycled material as possible. plus, heck, he seems like a really nice fella right?

also, how much extra energy is expended by ordering stuff from tons of different companies?

there’s no wrong or right here. geez guys, we’re all doing the best we can right? i mean, we’re on here debating the best way to order organic raw food! pure bliss!

deep breath, follow our hearts, all is well.

    Hey all :)
Thanks SO much for this video, Kevin – fun for me, as I’ve actually never seen our shipping dept ;) LOL – I’ve been out of the US for soooo long now…
WELL, I noticed that a few people here are asking abt international shipping (i.e. sending packages out of the US). We DO ship internationally. Unfortunately the website just does not currently handle international orders very happily ;) We’re working on it and that will all be fixed up and running smoothly in January, all being well. In the meantime, the process is a little peculiar – here it is:

*create an account for yourself in the store
*go to ‘edit your shipping address’
*leave your postal code as it is in the Zip Code field
*For ‘State’ put NV, for ‘Country’ put USA
*write your full city, state/province, country in the field that reads ‘COMPANY NAME’

I hope that makes sense – sorry for the inconvenience. Our employees are trained to realise that this means it is an international order and they will get it sent out to you appropriately ;) You are also welcome to call our customer service reps if you prefer, on 001-866-729-3438 and they can help you to set it up…
Hope that works for you all ;) Once you have it set up, it will always work smoothly for you from then on…just needs to be set up for your first order…
ENJOY and ALL best wishes to everyone for a joyous Holiday Season and a yummy New Year…
    All love,
    Angela. xxx

You are so awesome. Your knowledge and information is priceless. I am so grateful to be the benefit of your work.
One item I use frequently which is not available at therawfoodworld is “Better than Roasted” almond butter. After watching the episode on the bummer award for almond butter, does that also pertain to this brand as well?

Hey Matt, I would love if you could carry The Morroco Method hair care products. They have some interesting kinds of shampoos: Pine Shale Air shampoo,Sea Essense, Earth and Apple Cider Vinegar Fire shampoo. All of the hair care products are 100% natural and vegan. They all incoperate I thinks it’s like 92 minerals in the shampoos. They also provide conditioners and some other products. I originally heard about these items from David Wolfe, he highly reccommends them. I trust David Wolfe’s seal of approvel always.
I also didn’t see any marine phytoplankton on your website, it would be cool to see that offered.
Lastly, there is this bar of soap that I got a while back. It was the most amazing soap that I have ever tried! It is called The Chocolate Skin Rejuvenation Bar, I believe it’s by the company Anciet Sun. It’s made of organic raw coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, 100% pure cocao butter, Coral sea Island tamanu oil, mangosteen powder and Moroccan Rhassoul Clay. I’m sorry, but I had to list all of the ingrediants so you could see just how out of this world that this proudct really is. I really hope that you can find a way to carry it!!! Thanks a lot guys, you are the best. Thank you Kevin, for continuessly bringing the best health information anywhere!! Keep it up bro.

I was also going to mention that it would be cool if there was some kind of shipping discount if you purchased a certain abount of items like $100 dallars or more. It’s always a cool intcentive to purchase from websites that do offer a discount. Either way, I will continue to purchase products from your website, I will always be a loyal customer. Thanks for this video, it was fun to watch and see the inner workings of a company.

Thanks Heidi for doing those numbers and thanks Kevin et al for the counterpoints. I am praying for the best products at the best, fair, lower, affordable prices. I want all Brothers and Sisters to be able to afford to eat healthy, great food. We deserve that!
