I read an article from Dr. Weil stating that the oldest woman in the world who died some years ago at the age of 122 reportedly ate over 2 pounds of chocolate a week and I bet it wasn't the raw kind.

I have to add that after watching the Wolfe vid above, there's a high possibility that I've been low on minerals, hence my inability to handle any kind of drug. So who knows. Still I'll take cacao with a grain of salt.

David I was hoping to hear about your mineral test results!

I will give my personal experience on cacao, if it's of value to anyone. I have to start saying that I've never been a smoker, alcohol or coffee drinker. The only illegal drugs I ever did was pot and that was about 3 times, the third was the charm, I nearly called an ambulance, never again. That said..

As a woman I grew up loving chocolate, especially once a month where it was almost a dire need. The whole raw cacao thing sounded pretty cool and I wanted to try it out, maybe it was as great as everyone said it was.

My dad bought me a bag of organic raw nibs, and after getting the vitamix I made my first 'milk shake' with almonds, about a teaspoon of nibs, a couple of dates, a pinch of sea salt and water. It was very tasty! But at about four gulps in, my heart began to race. My hands started to tremble and I remembered my charming pot incident, or whenever I had black coffe on an empty stomach, or having a serious low blood sugar episode. I freaked out and started drinking loads of water. Eventually it passed, but I was warned.

About a year later I decided to try it out "properly", maybe I wasn't doing it right, so I ordered a bar with superfoods from a well known source from the UK. I had about 1/4 of the bar after having eaten, and began to feel pretty sluggish and got a mild headache.

The following day I had some more, this without much food, and once again, my heart began to race, my hands to tremble, the deal all over again.. I drank about 1/2l of water, it eased down but this time I was high! Boy that was interesting, it lasted for about 30 mins, and then I was so tired I had to lay down and slept for about 3 hours.

So, in all honesty, never again.

Hi Kevin,

I've recently been introduced to your show and thankfull to have been. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.

I have watched a few pass shows where you have stated you are or were suffering from systemic candida and I too have been suffering for quite some time; my comment to the is if you think there might be a connection? I know sometimes I get rashes from certain foods when my candida is flaired up. I agree that you can take too much...after all too much of anything is not good, but the rash may be a combination of things.

I'd also like to get more information on how you cured yourself of candida; i'ved tried to find this in your episodes but was unsuccessful.

Blessings

I was on a video webcast with Nick Good and David Wolfe last night (11/25/08). David Wolfe explained why you had the reaction/demineralization with Cacao.

Here is the link:

The comments start at 40:01. I will email an MP3 of the comments also.

Just throwing this out there... (and I do think toying around with this topic is a great exercise)

Have you tried re-engaging cacao to see if the rash returns? I personally have had lots of allergy experience, and it can get ugly. Most people look for the giant swollen lips and throat, but that's only the extreme anaphylaxis. In reality, each particle or element might case a totally differe response. A micro-particle might make it into the blood stream more easily and cause contractions throughout the body, also rashes etc - larger particles might stay in the colon and cause (initally) a quiet inflammation leaving damaged tissues that attract the wrong bacteria & yeast who come along to do their natural thing.

I would really suspect allergy first in your case Kevin.

You can call me a hater but it is better to question than to follow blindly. In the Sunfood Success everytime cacao or goji or anything else is mentioned its highlighted like a webpage saying it can be bought from sunfood.com. This really cheapened the book and showed his true motives. David Wolfe is full of contridictions saying seeds and insects are bad karma, but his book goes on about the benefits of peppers(isn't seeds what makes peppers hot) and I have also seen him saying he eats a 100 ants a year! Thats some bad karma(vegetarian means not bugs!). Dont take up for him it seems if everyone is saying stop picking on Avocado. Many other raw pioneers have said it without naming names but what he is doing is wreckless. Dont fall victim to David Wolfes cacao like millions to the pharmacuetical.

Not hatin, just tryin to awakin
