The infrared sauna vs. the steam sauna is just one of the four or five questions I answer today…
Lot of talk about 80-10-10 still, so I address some of my personal experience with it as well as my thoughts for those who want to transition into it.
I also talk a little about cacao (I will have a full fledged talk 2-4 sessions in the next few months about this and more so stay tuned!) and about Harvey Diamond from the book “Fit For Life”.
Take a look…

Glad you answered the sauna question, Kevin. I always wondered that, too.
You seemed a bit tired today, or is it that the low sugar diet is making you a bit more calm than usual?
Lots of love to you,

Go Kevin! Good show. I had the same experience with cacao. I’d get so jittery every time I had it so I avoid it now and have it a couple times a year as a treat.
But fruit all day, big salads, green smoothies, juice are the main part of my diet.
I love the 80/10/10 diet too! I’ve been on it a couple years and it kept me going raw(before that i was on a regular raw diet that was high fat). Now after 5 1/2 years 100% raw, I have cooked squash, sweet potato and occasionally grains and I really have to say I am enjoying it!
Thanks again for everything!

How To Unlock Your Magical Powers
(aka The Sunfood Diet Success System)
By David Wolfe
Because it supports my physical bod with spiritual sustainance.
Inspired me to eat 100% raw. I’ve never felt happier. Every day I continue to grow with more awareness.
The words make it easier to balance my diet.
On a crazy thought… some humans who have recently come from the land of the fair, may have produced certain reactions in their bodies to certain foods… especailly chocolatey foods… some faeries tend to thrive off of them. SO experts help you to develop ideas about health, but ALWAYS listen to yourself above all. Eat what you need.
In love.

I’m working my way through Susan Schenk’s new version of The Live Food Factor. Also simultaneously reading The World Without Us by Alan Weisman and Make Real Money on the Internet by Stephen Pierce. Also reading Be the Pack Leader for my dog’s sake. I have books all over the place so I can just read a chapter at a time in a different room or in my car while waiting.
What’s up with Fit For Life? I followed that for years and felt pretty good on it. Hope to hear more about that soon! I often recommend it as a first step diet for people on the SAD. Eases the burden on the digestive system really well before moving into vegetarianism or veganism.

Hey there,
Sooo… no cacao and adding cooked foods to our diet??? I have been as close to 1oo% raw for 20 months now, always vegan…and find that when I eat cooked food it is a big energy drain..it manifests in a decreased spiritual resonance and takes me days to get back on track…and could for myself not imagine a day without greens and green
smoothies, fruit, and some form of raw cacao…but then again, I am fairly new to this lifestyle. Thank you Kevin for what you do, Blessings…maria

In your show you mention that people need to experience and find out for them selves which (raw)diet works for them. I totally agree! And a book that I recently read covered this exact topic and was one of the best books on nutrition I have ever read. The funny thing is, practically no nutritional advice is given. The book is called “the yoga of eating” by Charles Eisenstein. It’s full of great insights. One of the statements in the introduction of the book I could really relate to as probably many of us can: “I tend to believe whatever it is that I’m reading…”.
All diet books have great arguments and seemed to be backed up by lots of testimonials. You do need to find out for your self and “the yoga of eating’ can help you with that. (Perhaps a next healthbook summary?)

Hi Kevin,
Your motivation and drive comes across really well.
I started on the latest weightloss programme in May 2008 and have lost about 70lbs with only between 28 – 50lbs to go. I am 5ft 7ins, male and aged 59 yrs.
My knees have problems because in the past I did a reasonable amount of running but was always too heavy.
I started looking at some success stories on youtube and came across Philip McClusky at lovingraw.com and onto a bunch of other sites.
At present I am losing and the main ingredient
is keep to the general advice but really it is staying ‘focused’. The online inspiration for that is the crucial element. Your site as I said is a great inspiration as are the videos
I am not sure if I will go totally Raw but I live on salad / fruit and some fish and have still gained weight in the past. Now even with Healthy ‘Eat as much as you Like’ foods I am into portion control.
Once I reach a weight that I am satisfied with then I plan to live supplying what my body needs in a maintenance lifestyle.
I am Scottish and going to just north of Atlanta over the Christmas period and hope to find some raw food restaurants and get some proper meals rather than my homespun system which would probably horrify a real expert and enthusiast.
But we can only do what we can.
Best wishes,
Reg

Jameth Sheridan says it well in his article in the Hippocrates magazine Vol28 issue 4 (latest one)
I believe this is the best way to eat. Everyone has to evolve and knowledge does too. I think we are very close with the Hippocrates and Dr. Gabriel Cousens Plan … Jameth Sheridan is the mid-point of these two Plans, which is more structured for many of us.

Oh, my! Kevin, could you delete my previous post–it’s got too many typos. I’m usually waaaay better than that! I must be hungry…
I was really inspired by Sergei & Valya Boutenko’s book “Eating without Heating” and left it around for my kids to read. Don’t think they did, but the recipes look very inviting. I also devoured Victoria’s book “Green for Life” and have been making a small daily smoothie ever since (maybe 3 weeks?). Soon I’ll tackle her “12 Steps to Raw Foods”. On the downside, I ended up being charged over $30 for cross-border fees! (I live in Canada). Grrr

“DMT:The Spirit Molecule” by Rick Strassman.
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
“Anatomy of the Spirit-The Seven Stages of Power and Healing” by Caroline Myss.
All three books are great, feeding the mind and soul. Feeding the body is just one part to a healthy, joyous life. I know people that have not had the best diet yet have lead long, happy lives, and vegans that still manifest health problems.I believe its an individual path of discovery and balance, intuitively knowing what resonates with you at certain times.Bend with the wind and keep a supple, healthy body and mind- with love.

Hi, Kevin,
Thanks for sharing your cacao experiences and we have in common that it is not a desired daily diet addition, no matter who says so.
My own diet has been very clean since 1974 when I became a vegetarian. Maybe 20 years ago I became vegan which I still am, eating cooked and raw almost 100% organically. As you probably are aware, the International Living Food Summits at Hippocrates Health Institute have a consensus that an at least 80 percent raw diet is optimum for most people. They also collectively agreed that caffeinated substances like raw cacao should be used (if ever) very occaisionally and in minimal quantities. Top leaders who originally inspired the raw movement like Viktoras Kulvinskas,Paul Nison, Dorit, Reverend Malkmus of http://www.hacres.com, Cherie Soria and Dan Laderman of Living Light, Dr.Jameth Sheridan, Drs. Brian and Maria Clement and others were there with 434 combined years of experience in the raw lifestyle.
My first year as a vegetarian was 100% raw in 1974 and I have followed raw foods, mcrobiotics, natural hygiene and other diet ideas and have learned from them all.
I have never been a coffee drinker so have not built up any tolerance to caffeine or threobromine, the ‘wonder drug’ in cacao which keeps people high (until they stop using it and detox).
The few times I have had cacao it made me DIZZY IN MY SLEEP, the worst feeling in the world.
Nature every night lets us sleep (unless caffeine or other stimulants would keep us up, altering the recharge timing which needs to be during our circadian rhythm time for sleep). This happens so our etheric bodies can come out of alignment with our physical bodies, usually just inches out of juxtaposition and thus recharge from the energies of the etheric plane. Once our etheric body is recharged we can step back into alignment and start a fresh earth plane day invigorated. It is such a natural and smooth event we don’t even feel its happening but awaken restored.
Some cacao proponents brag about needing less sleep which I believe is BORROWING. If one’s rest is not during approximately a 10-5AM time we are not getting a full recharge and are BORROWING ENERGY. That is my opinion of what is happening when using stimulants like cacao- one’s system cannot ‘let go’ and let one really rest.
I believe heavy cacao users will pay a price later, even if they get wound up and excited and deny it now. Cacao in quantity produces a ‘jacked up excitement’. Use of these words IS intended as a wake up for those not yet addicted.
Nothing against those souls who use cacao and have many good qualities- I just think too much of a good (?) thing is not creating health balance in their readers and listeners or themselves.
For evidence of the side effect of a lack of relaxedness (don’t mistake it for enthusiasm) watch a video of cacao proponents talking on any subject. Careful- listen to the lack of pauses to let listeners assimilate or respond with their own ideas- it’s like one continuous drum roll of monologue interspersing the topic with the ‘miracle’ of cacao! They cannot help it and don’t mean it- they are just very stimulated. Business seminars often are run by professoinals dosed up on caffeine- they get the job dome but at the expense of their family and friends who have to live with a tightly wound individual.
I know the popular argument that cacao with its threobromine (also caffeine is touted by weight lifting supplement companies who say the same)acts as a transit booster for other good nutrients cacao’s proponents recommend. This may be true, but at what cost?
However, if one’s ‘horse’ (metaphor for your body) is actually tired and needs to rest, in my opinion taking cacao is like ‘whipping a tired horse’ to run further- he CAN do it but it wires his nerves and he gets high strung or something else gives.
It would be very interesting for others to have tests done like you have which determined that your liver and other organs were stressed, and minerals actually depleted. All of us, even those who don’t want to eat cacao can benefit from a mineral test.
Thanks, as a leader in the live foods sector for stepping up to the plate and calling a spade a spade on cacao. One feels infinitely smoother without it at all, yet those hooked on it initially don’t want to hear it or admit they actually get ‘jacked up’ on it.
There are many superfoods and other service ideas recommended by the cacao sellers which I do love, as you do yourself. I just think certain promoters got way overboard on something humanity can live better without- or in EXTREME moderation. Those same people have a lot to say (sometimes hard for others to get in a word?)about a lot of good subjects. I believe once they choose to wean off the cacao their lives will be smoother and all other aspects of their messages will become better accepted.
We are not alone in recommending foregoing cacao- Dr. Doug Graham, Reverend George Malkmus, Dr. Brian Clement and others in the healthful living movement say it is best left alone, too. They have similar good reasons. I hope cacao promotion is a passing fad like many others in the health movement and everybody gets into a largely sathwic, peaceful vegan diet. People all over the world will be able to love each other and get into sync more easily.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for the info, though brief, about infrared vs steam saunas. The gym I go to has both plus a hot tub and swim pool. So, I’m curious about the benefits of saunas, how often and length of time to use, proper cool down, etc.
I’m reading The 7 Principles of Fat Burning by Eric Berg, DC, plus Eat Right For Your Blood Type. And above all, the Bible. It’s amazing how the Bible outlines what and what not to eat; see Deuteronomy 14, Ezekiel 4:9, Daniel 1:8-19.
To help the body balance itself from the effects of internal and external stress, look into the power of adaptogens which are non-toxic to the body, balances stress to support so the body may heal itself. Check it out for yourself at http://www.tunguskamist.com/431348.
Healthfully,

I’d like to know about Harvey Diamond too, couldn’t find info online. I started with Fit for life over 20 years ago.
2:23 pm on November 22nd, 2008
The book that inspires me the most is “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle. It’s the book I come back again and again to and gain new insight everytime I look at it.
“Fit for Life” was an awesome book. I don’t know if I believed all it’s theories on food combining but I got into from Tony Robbins recommendation when if first came out. The “Fit for Life” principles help me focus on eating more fruits and vegetables that are hydrating and nutritious. It help me comsume them more than ever before which has been great. I loved Marilyn Diamond books too and her simple and delicious veggy meals. Now having gone raw I’m exploring that aspect of health and seeing where that takes me. After two years, so far so good. Still more to know and still tweeking and making subtle adjustments and adding variety especially in the area of greens.
Another book I just pulled out of storage was “Health and Fitness Excellence – The scientific action plan” by Robert K. Cooper, Ph.D. The pages are yellowing but the book seems very comprehensive. I see I did a lot of underlining. Great info.

It sounds like you have an allergy to cacao. For me it is great. Of course I don’t eat tablespoons of it everyday. Just a bit here and there. I use it more like a medicine. The arguement that dogs don’t eat cacao and therefore it must not be good for us is bogus. My dog also doesn’t eat grapes or kale, so what does that say?

Hi Kevin, I know I am late watching this video and responding…but I was wondering: The only place that would be available for me to use a suana would be the YMCA. I used to swim a lot at the pool but I stopped due to the chlorine and chemicals were wrecking havoc on my hair, skin and nails. How do we combat all those chemicals and bad water and still retain the health values of the exersizing and sweating etc…????

Hi Kevin,
I want to thank you for being so generous in sharing your health experiences with the whole world. May abundunce of all kinds richly fill your life.
The book that I am presently reading is called “Atheism Explained” (From Folly to Philosophy) by David Ramsay Steele. What a liberating read this is!!! I am flying on the wings of freedom from the confusion of all world religions and classical theism belief systems.
Similarly, couple of years ago I was inspired by the book “Farewell to God” by Charles Templeton – the book confirmed my suspision in religion, and gave me the power to think about important life questions on my own, without any fears and blind obedience to the so-called “holy utterings” of the non-existant god.
Take care of yourself, we need your shows!!!
Nelly.

Hi Kevin,
The book I’m reading right now is.. There is a Cure for Diabetes, by Gabriel Cousens. I have the video, Raw for 30 Days, but haven’t seen it yet.. I’m waiting to get together with friends so we can all see it at the same time. I’m sure from your rave reviews that I will love it.
I had the privelege of hearing Brian Clement and Gabriel Cousens speak a few weeks ago when they were here for the Raw Food Expo in Toronto. Brian actually came to Guelph and Gabriel was in Georgetown. They both had a great turnout. I don’t really know why people say that the diet endorsed by Brian and Gabriel is necessarily high in fat.. I think it all depends on what foods and how much of them one chooses to eat. I do like Jameth Sheridan’s approach to eating vegan more than raw. Even Brian and Gabriel say 80% raw is optimal and my diet does consist of some cooked grains and vegetables.. but if I stick to the rule of no more than a small handful of nuts a day, minimize the oil in my salad dressings and only share an avocado with my husband about once every month.. it isn’t that difficult to keep fat intake low. There are just as many studies that show a high fat diet leads to diabetes as there are ones that show high sugar intake does.. so until they really know for sure what the answer to that question is.. I would rather avoid both for the time being.
Just an idea for a question of the day.. I am interested and somewhat curious about what people on the blog eat for dinner.. What is their favorite raw, vegan or vegetarian meal?
9:12 pm on November 29th, 2008
I read, and am now trying to assimilate The PH Miracle by Robert Young. There are so many approaches to healthful eating. I am trying to find something that makes me feel well. It takes a lot of time to experiment with a particular program and then compare it to something else.
