Yep, I botched a show…
Have you ever had a really good idea and it just didn’t work out the way you wanted it to?
How about taking 14 of my fitness colleagues (self proclaimed “meatheads”) to a vegetarian restuarant…
Sounds like it would make for some good TV… or at least until we hit some massive I-95 traffic and had to re-adjust our plans.
Go ahead and see what happens (it’s still good TV!)…
Your question of the day: Tell us about a time when you “rolled with the punches”?

Hey Kevin,
I am bummed the traffic stopped us from our Vegan adventure…
I for one, was a ‘Meathead’ looking forward to it (we’ll have to plan that trip for another day).
Great tip today though…
I agree that flexibility in your diet is important for long term success.
I also think having flexibility in your workouts is key too.
For example, some days I have a lifting session planned and ‘life gets in the way’ and ruins my well-designed plans.
I find having little back-up plans is great so that way I can still get a great workout in no matter what.
Something is always better than nothing right.
Keep up the great work Kevin!

Hi Kevin,
I’ve never commented before but I’ve been enjoying your show for the past few months. I’m not Raw or Vegan, so rolling with the punches is pretty easy for me. I am, however, someone trying to incorporate more raw foods into my diet and trying to find the diet that’s right for me. I’m a Cajun girl, so food has always been a big part of my life and I don’t think I could ever give up gumbo!!
Anyway…I wanted to try to guess what the secret is. My guess is that you are starting a “Raw” version of You Tube where raw foodies can share tips and recipes. That would be really cool.
Whatever it is I’m sure it’s going to be great and keep up the great work. You’re changing lives!!

Hmm. My guess is could it be like a webinar (if thats what its called) were we can actually see the people over the computer while the event is happening? Whatever it is I’m sure it will be exciting and great as all of the events are that you put together!

Well, actually, I had a very positive experience in the REVERSE. I ALWAYS do what everyone else wants to do. I don’t make waves. I am a “people pleaser” type of person. One day a couple of years ago, I went to a “Revelations” event that was sponsored by the Agape International Church. (Headed by Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith from the movie “The Secret”.) There were about 7 in our group and they all wanted to go to a restaurant that served meat. I really wanted to support a vegetarian restaurant that was mentioned at the event. I did something very atypical of me, I went off by myself to find the vegetarian restaurant.
Long story short, I ended up sharing a table with some new amazing people, and Michael Beckwith and his wife ended up sitting down at my table and having lunch with me and my new friends!
Love your show by the way!

I loved this episode for a couple of different reasons.
I think it’s really important to show others how flexible we can be as raw foodists. It’s all about the company, not the food. For me, I always carry fruit in the car so if we ended up at a place where there was nothing for me to eat, I’d just eat fruit. Thanks for showing others that it’s not difficult to go with the flow and still enjoy yourself!
It looks like you had a great time at the bootcamp! Didn’t Annmarie join you?
Lots of love to you,
Wendi
XOXOXO

HI KEVIN,
I FOUND I AM MUCH LESS LIKELY TO MISS THE MIRACLES IF I GO WITH WHAT IS. AND WHEN I RESIST IT I CAUSE MYSELF TO SUFFER.
MY EXAMPLE- BOUGHT A USED SCOOTER. AFTER 1O DAYS THE KICK STARTER FELL INTO THE GEARS. BECAUSE I DID NOT RESIST, I WENT WITH IT AND WAS ABLE TO FIND OUT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER KNEW THAT WAS A GOOD POSSIBILITY. AND I WAS ABLE TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK [AND THAT IS HOW I WORDED IT
.
WITH NO RESISTANCE LIFE FLOWS. I GOT MY MONEY BACK IN CASH AND AFTER FOLLOWING MORE FLOW OF LIFE WITHOUT RESISTANCE I AM NOW DRIVING A NEW SCOOTER.
MY GUESS- A VIDEO RAW SUMMIT
THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR LIFE WITH US, IT’S ALWAYS MORE POWERFUL TO SEE THESE IDEAS IN ACTION RATHER THAN JUST WORDS.

I have found myself in this situation more than once. I am only about 70% raw but 90%organic. I have other friends “leave the scene” after a meeting or something because they won’t even eat non organic. I roll with the punches in order to go out with friends or even be invited to their house. There is salad and fruit everywhere you go. GREAT VID, THANKS!!!

Hey Kevin,
I am guessing you will be holding an event similar to that of Oprah and Eckhart Tolle, almost like a skype world video conference/seminar.
Be well

Scott Coleman is too cute with his Gojis!! Way to be an example to the “meatheads” and roll with the punches Kev!! Love it!
Thank you for the reminder to be flexible. Its so important and going through the after math of hurricane Ike (I still don’t have electricity at home) I can really appreciate the reminder!

Every single time I go to my boyfriends family’s house, I find myself in that position. They always eat meat and it would be offensive to them if I didn’t eat it. Along with the meat, they rarely eat anything that is raw so I often end up sick from eating the food after being on a raw binge. I will often find myself just staying home to ovoid the food. Once every now and then is okay but any more than that is a no go for me.

Rolling with the punches is the best cure for orthorexia. Say WHAT? OR-tho-REX-i-a.
My wife and I went to Pure Food and Wine since we were in the City and debated for 10 or 15 minutes as we looked at the menu and wondered if we should go in. It looked like we probably couldn’t get out of there for under 150 or 200 dollars so we decide that maybe we could just a bite of something to experience the atmosphere and say we went. Then they informed us there was a two week waiting list at which point, I thought Plan B was in order. Since we were committed to eating raw I decided at that moment, to eat the Lamb’s Quarters (a weed whose virtual was discovered) that was growing under the tree just outside the restaurant. Raw, free and no waiting and highly nutritious. Although I didn’t appreciate my wife’s comment about a dog that may have lifted his leg on it. To which my replied was “it rain this morning”. Why do they away say that? It never quite tastes as delicious as it could have after they say things like that.

Hey Kevin,
I’m also bummed that we couldn’t make it to the vegetarian restaurant, perhaps another time.
Regardless, it was a nice dinner and a fun night – I still can’t get over how big your salad was
I think being flexible and adaptable to our changing circumstances is one of the best “life qualities” that we can practice – and discipline through nutrition and strength training are two ways to tap into training for adaptability. When it comes time to roll with the punches, you are more prepared than you need to be for whatever life brings you.
Keep paying it forward brother!

That is so funny that the video ends with him eating Goji Berries.
I totally forgot this until right now, but last night I had a dream that you, me, Carrie and Annmarie were hanging out and I kept eating all your Goji Berries. (Had totally forgotten that until now.)

Hi Kevin
A very true lesson.
The stress that we experience when we worry that we won’t be eating the “perfect” meal is probably more harmful than eating the tiny bit of cheese or mayonnaise or whatever else they have served you at the restaurant.
We have to trust our bodies. If we have been good to ourselves and we are in a relatively healthy state then our body can easily handle a bit of something unhealthy, we just have to have faith that our body will swiftly eliminate the compromising article (which it will because the human body is phenomenal!!).
I have a friend who said they were going wheat-free, sugar-free, dairy-free for 30 days. I told them I had been like that for over a year. They couldn’t believe it and asked me how I managed never having cake or biscuits.
I told them that the key was flexibility. On rare occasions I will have cake and biscuit (but only fresh and homemade, I can’t stand those plastic, cardboard things you find in boxes). The majority of the time I am healthy but I’m not going to kill myself if I stray from the “ideal”.
30 days later they told me that what I had told them about flexibility really helped. Now they feel less pressure from themselves and are actually consciously making healthier choices. It’s a great feeling when someone you know tells you they are taking steps to become healthier and that you were able to help them along the way!
