You guys asked for the top 10 supplements so here they are…
This list is not exhaustive, but does cover the best supplements we feel you can take on a regular basis.
The list does not include some of the best herbs because (1) I want to do that in a separate show and (2) it’s sometimes better to take herbs on a rotational basis to give your body a break from some of them.
So here’s the top 10 supplements, take a look and tell us what you think…
Your question of the day: What is your top 10 supplement, or top 3 or top 1?
Click here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and leave your comments now!
Here’s a list of where you can find these products… (FYI: I recommend these products and take ALL of them. Some of the recommendations here are affiliate links… some are not… just wanted to give you full disclosure.

This is definitely worth looking at ( JuicePLUS).. Look at the research.. It doesn’t take the place of fruits and vegetables but it’s the closest thing out there to compare to fresh raw fruits and vegetables..
I have had cancer patients white counts drop significantly after only two months and more …
Not trying to make a sales pitch just really loving Juice Plus

Hi Kevin,
I found it interesting that you were allergic to bee pollen because I was tested for food sensitivities and found out I was allergic to spirulina.. so my green powders have to be spirulina-less.
I found a few that are pretty good.. Field of Greens by Vibrant Health, the makers of Green Vibrance.. and Pure Planet’s Green Kamut Wheatgrass Juice.
My favorite calcium supplement is LifeTime liquid Calcium Magnesium Citrate.
My favorite probiotic is Genestra’s Human Microflora which is ideal for vegans because it doesn’t come from animals.. unless you count humans as animals.
Favorite digestive enzymes: Udo’s Choice, Advanced Adult.
My husbands favorite omega-3 supplement is also by Udo’s 3-6-9.. and my favorite is Carlson’s.. also the maker of my favorite vitamin D3 (2000IU) for people with osteopenia/osteoporosis.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for all the info . I enjoy all of it. My husband and I take 5 out of the 10 you mentioned.. Well kinda 6, but we take the omega’s instead of the krill oil. Keep up the info and you are doing an excellent job. Barb

Ok, so omitting vitamineral green, MSM, Pure radiance Vitamin C, and the Max Stess B Nano Plex, since you’ve already mentioned those.. my current list would read as follows:
10.) Radical Health’s Vanilla Agave Nectar 1.2 (I know it’s not really a supplement but I use it daily with LOVE) 9). vitaSynergy for Women by Mitchell May 8.) Mushroom Science’s Cordyceps Cs-4 7.) Quantum Nutrition Labs Nutritional Flakes 6.) Radical Health’s Seaweed Energy 5.) Radical Health’s Chocolate Bliss blend V 4.5 4.) Radical Health’s Fiesta Mole blend V2.5 3.) Lo Basico Nutrition’s Wild Blue Green Algae flakes 2.) RGarden’s L Salivarius probiotic 1.) Transformation’s Professional Protocol Digest
I’m guessing you guys haven’t used any of the radical health products because I’ve never heard you mention them, but I HIGHLY recommend them. They are of the highest and most pristine quality that you will find. Radicalhealth.com and no these guys are not paying me!! Keep up the good work, we love the show ?

I HIGHLY recommend most of the supplements you talked about today but another one to consider is Mona Vie which is an AMAZING Antioxidant nutritional beverage with the ACAI berry…
Thank you..

I thought JuicePlus was good too. I have been taking it about 2 years now and have not had any results, but still kept taking it anyway figuring it couldn’t be hurting me. THEN I found out that it is not organic which means all of the fruits and vegetables are loaded with pesticides etc. and it is also pasturized…very bad. It is terribly expensive too. It is a shame, they(juice plus) could have a fantastic product if they would just get rid of the junk and bad processing and leave it pure the way nature intents.

The only supplement I’m currently taking on a regular basis is Astaxanthin (antioxidant). I’ve been taking it for a little over a month now. You can definitely feel the difference! I have more energy and feel generally better overall since taking it so that’s always nice.
I will be looking to get some of those top 10 supplements that you mentioned soon! Can’t wait for the top 10 herbs

Hi Kevin, Just thought you’d like to know that my veterinarian, Dr Paul recommended krill oil from Dr. Mercola for my cats. I’m going to take it too…..I just ordered some now. The vet clinic is called, “Smith Ridge Veterinary Center” in South Salem, New York and was founded by the renowned Dr. Marty Goldstein. His clinic will do telephone consultations and I’m having a metabolic nutritional analysis done on my cats and they will design a supplement for them. Also, I have my cats on Amazon Herbs( I consulted with Kim Chimene) and also Carnivora(recommended by Dr Paul). They also are on probiotics which is soil based that Dr. Paul recommended from http://www.vitalityscience.com.

I am now totally into essential oils – they have to be 100% pure, therapeutic oils that can be taken internally. The best source I found about three years ago and to this day is Young Livings (so much so I’m now a dist.) but I take these 10 everyday with a day break every seventh or eighth day to let my body know it has to work by itself too
Life 5 – probiotic suppl.
Thyromin – I was once hypo, no more synthetics for me!
Endogize – for hormone, adrenal balance etc.
Longevity – A premium essential oil suppl. for overall immune, anti-aging, brain, heart with thyme, frankincense, cluve…oils in capsule form.
Super C – has minerals and oils incl and pure lemon essential oil in my water
Sulphurzyme – my MSM, which also has FOS and Wolfberries incl.
Multigreens- Does have Spir and pollen.
Mineral Essence- ionic minerals I add to water
Super B – also has minerals and oils
Omega Blue – my Omega 3 suppl., has fish oils as well as an essential oils blend that’s incredible.
Mightyzyme – I take my son’s to save money (enzymes supp)
oops that’s 11, but sometimes I’ll skip one here and there as I see “feel” to.

Opps…….I made a mistake. Excuse me it’s Kay Chimene. You must know her from Amazon Herb Company and Mike, your friend.

What exactly is the vitamin C extract you’re suggesting? I couldn’t find it on the website. Many C supplements can be too acidic. I’m looking for one that won’t be.

Hi Kevin,
On the subject of supplements, here in New Zealand we don’t have access to a lot of the products that are recommended and what is available is limited in choice. I tried importing some Boku powder only to have it impounded by border security and destroyed. This as put me off trying to purchase from other countries. I find this frustrating because our market is too small for any supplement company to operate here and therefore our choice is very limited.
5:19 am on July 30th, 2008
Julie, you very obviously ARE trying to make a sales pitch, and I’m sure I’m not alone in preferring that you wouldn’t do that…especially for a product that, by its very nature, will encourage people to eat less fruits and vegetables due to the customers’ false assumptions that they can get the same nutrition from a pill.
Kevin, thank you as always for your informative shows, and thank you also for NOT being one of those guys who recommends a bunch of supplements and those supplements just HAPPEN to be the ones they sell…it’s very refreshing, and it makes me far more likely to listen to your advice, since it seems more genuine than the salespeople.

Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate your lists. I have taken the top 9 on your list for MANY years. My husband and I are in our 60’s and haven’t been to a doctor in over 20 years.

Kevin, Great show but I am confused on the difference in B-12 I have herd it twice now that you should not take the B 12 that starts with a C, but the one that starts with M(sorry don’t know the spelling on them LOL). I am VERY interested in this since I listen to Dr. Clement at rawalive.com He says the opposite of you and also Bioactivenutrients.com (Guy Evans) says the same as you. Could you give us a little more info on that subject. Thanks Jean
P.S. I take Bio Plus Bioavailable multi and Astaxanthin and Chlorophyllin with Zinc

Hello Kevin, Annmarie and everyone who contributes to the life of the RenegadeHealthShow community. I have a very specific question and anyone is welcome to share their experience. I am only a mouse click away from placing an order for my supplements so this show was very handy HOWEVER I am not sure about my choice of green powder. the reason being, I have been using Garden of Life Perfect Food Supergreen for a year. It seems like it used to be a very popular product but lately health rangers became sort of quite about it and I thought maybe something has changed in its quality or consistancy. Please help me make my decision. I have very good deal on this product so I would like to know why it is not mentioned as one of the good “green” product. Have a great day, everyone, Katya

Great show as always
The top 3 things I use at the moment are Emergen-C (Vit C/B’s), Stress Calm Magnesium drink and ThyroCare. Also Vit D since I was found to be very deficient. Garlic and fish oils I also get, but more from eating it than taking supplements(I also use flaxseed oil for omega’s). My goal is to keep the # of extra things I need to a minimum and try to get more nutrients in through diet. Personally coconut oil is also wonderful for me, both internally and on the skin, but not sure if that qualifies as a supplement or just another superfood!
I forgot all about oregano oil, I was using that for a while as well.

Hi Kevin,
If a person is not getting out in the sun for a few minutes everday, then do you recommend cod liver oil over krill? Krill is superior but, to the best of my knowledge, there is no quality vitamin D supplement you can take except by getting it via the cod liver oil, if not the sun. Do you agree?
I’m not finding the Vitamin C extract on the North American Herb & Spice website?
What do you think of http://www.nutritiontest.com that is promoted on North American Herb & Spice’s website?
Lastly, I have a difficult time with the taste of Oregano oil. In regards to parasite prevention, has your research shown Oregano oil to be more effective than Garlic?
I’m all questions today.
Thanks Kevin!

Hi Kevin,
I think your “top 10″ seems to be slightly biased in favor of companies that appear to network with you. I am a little shocked that you would overlook such essential (and cheap) supplements like vitamin D, iodine, fish oil, and CoQ10? Not to mention astaxanthin?
1:07 pm on July 30th, 2008
Hello kevin,
thanks for email.. I just wanted to ask if you knew anywhere in UK that sells Dr fred Bisci enzymes,, Sun warrior protein,, and also John Barron probiotics.. USA seems to have a very broad range of products -we always get them way after or not at all.
I don’t know if you can remember back to when you first started your journey to good health and could suggest what 3 supplements/foods (on a tight budget) you could suggest as I feel terrible no energy and a long list of ailments that result in a lethargy that is debilitating a direct result of poor health along with a depleted soul due to being so unhealthy and overweight I am really struggling to turn things around in all areas – I just want to generate a little energy to push me on and through this always difficult process of change.. my ideas:
1-sprouts (not sure will like them though, not the most appealing to a recovering junk food eater-taste is everything)
2-Kefir-made from raw cow/goats milk –
3- “Living fuel super-berry”-can you recommend a cheaper alternative but same quality that is also available to UK,, (I wonder and worry over dubious sellers of products I really want as to how long have they had product,, how have they stored it etc,, as it may not be as fresh and alive as it was when it left the manufacturer hence I am just wasting money or worse fake products with who knows what in them!! (the perils of trying to be healthy are just as dangerous as those pesky golden arches of McDonald’s it would seem!!)
4- 5 Min’s of rebounding a day + 5 Min’s strength training exercises– some movement has to be better than none!
this is a struggle and what puts me off as I have zero fitness level right now and find that very frustrating that I tire so quickly.
when I drink say “living fuel” It does not stop hunger pangs for long and I feel ravenous soon after, I now put in a tablespoon of raw coconut oil this helps but I need something that will satisfy and is more filling, would the “sun warrior” protein supplement provide that? or do I need healthy carbs to achieve this? as this is where I fall down and start craving the bad stuff for a energy fix.
and my budget does not always allow for supplements so I again veer of track so ideas have to be maximum goodness, minimum money
I am making changes everyday, no fluoride toothpastes, living clays, no pasteurised milks, making raw nut milks instead, not drinking tap water, getting shower head attachment to filter chemicals, living fuel products, and have just given up store bought soya milk, quitting junk food, trying to quit sugar full time, this is by far the hardest for me.
all suggestions greatly appreciated as I know you are probably inundated with queries that all take time to respond to.
(you should not be so inspiring!) you and your wife make a great team.
kind regards
Claire

I JUST BOUGHT B12 FROM TRADER JOE’S AND YUP IT’S THE WRONG KIND – CYANO…
DO I RETURN IT OR TAKE IT AND GET THE OTHER KIND NEXT TIME? WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?
I ALSO TAKE TRADER JOE’S OMEGA 3 WHICH I READ IS VERY HIGH QUALITY OMEGA 3 – IS THIS TRUE?
THANK YOU FOR DOING THESE SHOWS. I LOOK FORWARD TO THEM AND LEARN LOTS. I APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS AND HUMILITY TO SHARE TRUTH INSTEAD OF TRYING TO MAKE A PROFIT FROM IT !!!

Top supplements I take every day are:
Sun Is Shining greens powder
MSM crystals
Vitamin C powder made from camu camu berries
Kyolic Garlic tablets
David Wolfe’s Beauty Enzymes
Udo’s Super 8 Adult probiotics
I’ve also been adding Maca and coconut oil to smoothies lately. Yum.
Really need to get some B12. Am searching out a source of methylcobalamin (?) form B12 as we speak.
I feel bad for Arch in New Zealand. That sucks that it’s so hard/impossible to get hard of the top health products there. I order from Sunfood Nutrition for certain items that just don’t exist anywhere in the UK. I can tell you that the postage cost is hideous and customs always gets me EVERY time without fail, plus UPS then add their own massive fee on top of customs charges. I wish there was someone in the UK carrying David’s products.

Thanks guys! This was a GREAT list, full of really useful information. I’ve always wanted to know which supplements are the most important to be taking.
A few questions–
* What’s your stand on B12 shots? The vitamin is better absorbed this way, or so I think. Do you think the pill form is better?
* Which particular enzymes do you recommend? There are so many different kinds out there, derived from different sources. What’s best?
* You didn’t mention multi-vitamins. Do you take a multi? Are they not that important?
You guys are awesome!

Hey James, thanks for posting!
Here are my thoughts about your post. I can see where you think this would be biased…
Here’s the deal… my search for great products, lead me to these people, so for many of them I found them through my search, not by meeting them and aligning with them.
Also, I’ve interviewed over 100 health experts, so I guess you could say I’m aligned with a lot…. so it’s hard to shed all connections!
As for Vitamin D, Iodine, Fish Oil and CoQ10…
I do recommend a fish oil in the winter for those in the northern climates even though it isn’t vegan. I’m not convinced that the long chain FA can convert well enough in flax or hemp. This is also a good source of Vitamin D. (FYI: Krill is not a good source of Vitamin D)
Iodine is found abundantly in sea vegetables and I’d prefer people get it from a whole food source. Vitamineral Green does have kelp so this will provide some of that, but there’s nothing like a great seaweed salad weekly. (Beware raw foodies, Eden seaweeds are cooked. Arame, Wakame, Hiziki and more…)
CoQ10 is a great supplement and likely would make a list of things to take if you’re over 40
Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you, Kevin, for the awesome show as always! Great information! I’m considering to buy some of the supplements you mentioned, especially B-12. I already tried krill oil from Dr. Mercola and loved it.
Right now my top 1 supplement is In-Liven super food probiotics in powder form. It’s all organic, fermented and doesn’t contain dairy. I also take bee pollen in granules (I’m not allergic to anything) and Carlson’s fish oil and cod liver oil in liquid. I avoid taking supplements in capsules or tablets because they always have fillers. I think powder and liquid are the best forms and compeletely bioavailable.

Something I started taking a few months back that I feel has been a big benefit to me is Jon Barron’s Catalyst Altered Trace Minerals. When you consider that all our fresh produce has a questionable amount of minerals, I feel that my body has really responded to these minerals and I must have needed them.

Yet another awesome show. Thank you so much for doing these top 10 shows. I’ve learned so much from them. You’ve really blown my mind with them too. The things you put as priority aren’t what I’m expecting when I press play and then you explain your reasons and it make so much sense so it really helps me get more balanced each time. I love your balanced perspective. You probably feel like you repeat yourself a lot but I personally need to hear things over and over again sometimes before it sinks in, so I’m glad you do it even though it gets old for you I’m sure. Great list. I push myself to go to your show every day when I have so many other things to do because they’re short and sweet and so power packed. Thank you so much for all you’ve added to my life. It’s really helped me a lot.

Katya,
You mentioned Perfect Food by Garden of Life. I, too, have been taking it for a number of years now, and I think it’s the best. Family members have had some pretty great results with it, too (gum infections clearing up, more energy). ALL of Garden of Life’s Products are some of the best out there. Garden of Life products have made inroads into Hollywood circles, and I figure those people can use anything they want (no financial restrictions for them). I saw a economy-sized can of Perfect Food in Tom Brady’s locker during an ESPN interview.
I think that perhaps because Jordan Rubin, the founder, is a Christian man may be why his products are not getting the press from non-Christians. But Garden of Life is a company that is exemplary in every way–high quality products, environmental causes. In my opinion, they are ethical to a fault! (Is that possible?)
You may think I sell GOL products, but I don’t. I’ve used almost all of them for years and have reaped many benefits.

For my daily supplements I take Dr. Schulze’s ‘Super Food plus’, 100% organic & wild harvested vitamin and mineral herbal concentrate which also contains vitamin B12 @ herbdoc.com. I also take chlorella tabs every day @ Sun chlorella.com. And I also take udo’s omega 3’s, and probiotics and enzymes.
I haven’t gotten so much as a cold in over 3 years. As for a daily 2 mile walk, some yoga and eating whole raw foods, including lots of ginger and garlic and onions, I am fit and feeling great at 50.
Keep up the good work Kevin and Ann Marie

I would like to point out, being a nutritional consultant myself ,that if your body is toxic it will not have the ability to absorb the vitamins and minerals your body craves. A good detox plan should be in order before taking supplements. And as always 8-10 glasses of pure water a day is essential for your health.
And it really irks me that people don’t want to pay the price for quality supplements. Isn’t your health worth the price? Do you want to pay the farmer or the doctor? If you make it your priority to have good health then try cutting out another luxury in your life so you can afford quality supplements.
Be healthy,
Ann Marie in Florida

I know of one superfood product you should be able to get in New Zealand, Dr. Red’s Blueberry Punch, which is a concentrated formula that is full of antioxidants (. It’s made in Australia so you should be able to get it. Best of luck to you! http://www.drred.com.au/

Hi Kevin,
I appreciate that you have crossed paths with some noteworthy companies, however let me enter an alternate view if I could. If you have an audience who listens to you, I would think it is only good practice to focus on the more prevalent deficiencies that afflict the standard American. And, I might add, the most inexpensive to correct.
Sure, raw food is great, and so are top end supplements that could reach well into the triple digits each month for a single individual [let alone a family], but offering direction for the foundational corrections seems much more efficient to me? I would easily equate dispensing information about natural health as lifesaving information no?
Your comment about vitamin d was startling. Fish oil has at max 400IU per tsp. Most people are extremely vitamin D deficient, and even if someone were taking 4 tsp per day, that wouldn’t be nearly enough. 4500 to 5000 units day is the therapeutic dosage. I am proof of that too… I took cod liver oil religiously for years… 2 tablespoons per day… totalling 2400IU per day, and I had rock bottom vit d levels. Only when I added 4800IU of D-3 per day did my serum D levels bump up.
Your thoughts on CoQ10 and iodine are also seem a little skewed to me. “CoQ10 would make it on the list if you were over 40″…. are you serious? CoQ10 is an extremely powerful antioxidant and energy producer present in every cell in the body. Same goes for iodine… I suggest you find one of Dr. David Brownstein’s lectures on iodine therapy as it has some eye opening information for you. Sorry to say, that whole foods just won’t supply your average raw foodist with the therapeutic amount.
Here is the deal Kevin… the atrocities that the human body now has to deal with in the year 2009 are beyond measure. Certainly not what Mother Nature had planned for us don’t you think? And, whether you are a Creationist or an Evolutionist, one must agree that our bodies were not designed with an expectation of such a chemically, physically, spiritually, and mentally tortured future.
Our bodies chew up our antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients faster than food can replenish in the average individual. Even some organic vegetables have had measurably higher levels of toxins than conventional ones. Who says organic means that the produce is grown in mineral rich soil? There are too many unanswered questions with the nutritional reliability of food, whether it be raw, cooked, or canned. Don’t you agree?
So, I have a challenge for you… and I predict that it is one of your most popular shows if you follow through with it. I would like to see you design an effective supplement protocol (product, dosage, etc..) for the standard American, for $60 or less per month for a single person. The are no rules other than that you must provide links to the product pricing you used, and you cannot go over $60 of course. I would like to throw my hat in the ring as well with a plan of my own if you don’t mind? I would like to hear what your readers say…
I look forward to hearing from you…
-James

I DEFINITELY have issues with your taking krill – that is taking an animal’s life – yes,
maybe a short lived animal (as you mention in regards to how much toxicity
is in them vis a vis human health) but an animal NONE THE LESS that is
entitled by divine right to ITS ENTIRE LIFE SPAN.
Disppointed that you would advocate any use of animals. I mean – IF one
is taking enzymes and probiotics, etc. etc. what, really, is the lessened effect
of using flax and other vegetable sources for the omega’s? Is it THAT MUCH
less that you feel you have the right to take another being’s life? Do you KNOW how
much less of omega’s we get with flax – is this studied? And are the findings THAT STRONG
that they justify taking the life of a single krill? I doubt it.
ANYTHING WITH EYES, PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEIR RESPONSIBILITY
DO NOT EAT! (Apologies for all the capital letters but I feel this
VERY strongly)
Especially at the time when the Japanese are taking HUGE amounts of krill.
This is what humpbacks live on. Do we REALLY need to take their food as well?
Best,
Martha

Getting a little hot in here… here are my responses…
James, you write: “offering direction for the foundational corrections seems much more efficient to me? I would easily equate dispensing information about natural health as lifesaving information no?”
Lifesaving information comes from many places and there are many places to start. There are multiple deficiencies and each are individualized for a person.
Offering specific direction for the functional corrections in a blanket manner is somewhat irresponsible in my position. I can suggest what people can do IF they know they have a specific deficiency, but I do not feel comfortable recommending blanket and specific recommendations without the caveat that any one who is serious about really getting better should see a practitioner who can test for specific deficiencies and take a protocol that will help deal with them. Which is exactly what you seemed to have done. And I applaud you for it.
If someone is deficient in vitamin D then a protocol like you mentioned will surely work.
I’m actually not exactly sure what you’re arguing here. You addressed your specific situation and dealt with it appropriately. That’s exactly what I speak about as a theme throughout this show. (I’m assuming then that you may be a newer viewer… though I could respectably be wrong
)
The lifesaving advice in my opinion is taking action and finding someone to work with, not relying solely on information gathered from this show. I’m here to guide, not to specifically prescribe.
As for CoQ10, our bodies produce this naturally and it is in most foods. As we grow older we slow in production. If someone really wants to save money… eat veggies and fruits that have plenty of antioxidants, and don’t spend it on specific antioxidant pills unless you’ve started to age and your production of a specific nutrient is threatening to slow.
As for your challenge, it’s an interesting one. Though a protocol like that would be entirely idealistic and almost similar to the “magic pill” approach if we’re addressing someone specifically on a standard American diet who we assume does have deficiencies AND we’d like to take non-synthetic supplements (generally more expensive and more healthful).
So with that said, it’s irresponsible to think that someone who’s eating a standard American diet can spend $60 a month on supplements and achieve incredible health. (There of course may be one or two exceptions, as there always are… the “smoking, drinking grandpa” rule applies here)
There are many factors that the standard American is dealing with in terms of diet and deficiency.
The protocol is much more involved than taking a few pills. And, yes, it’s going to be more than $60… here’s why…
First, of course, I’d suggest that they take a long hard look at their diet, which will provide a whole host of benefits that will likely outweigh a few pills. Doing so will likely lead them to recognize that diet is causing many issues that they may or may not be experiencing yet. Through this process of recognition they will become educated and start making changes based on their education. (This will actually save money if they start buying less meat, so we can go negative here… $50 a week or so
but will increase a bit by buying educational materials.)
Next, they should see someone who can test for nutritional deficiencies. This will likely cost $75-$250 just for the consult. Maybe more for the testing w/o medical insurance.
Next up, this person should then address all specific nutritional deficiencies with the purchase of supplements. Whatever they may be. Vitamin D, EFAs, etc. This will cost a bit for sure… maybe $60-$120 monthly or so for a specified length of time.
After this, go back and retest… $75-250 or more.
Then address other deficiencies, etc.
Then finally when everything is feeling OK, I’d suggest going on a maintenance program that includes the essential green powder (which is similar to a multivitamin) and decide if everything else fits into the budget.
Continue to test, and check up and so on.
It takes time, it costs money, and most people will not do it because of those prohibitive factors. It’s a shame, but that is a painful reality of it. Do I think it is the best way to go? Absolutely. People value their money more than they do their health. It’s not my choice. We spend a massive amount of money on good food. Statistically it’s our best insurance policy.
Back to the point at hand… instructing people to systematically address their health is the main reason I do this show. My goal is to give people some tools to take action on their own and jumpstart their own program. Not to give them a “magic pill” recommendation of 4000IU’s of Vitamin D and profess that this will end their pain. For some it may, but I recommend they figure it out with the help of a person who can work with them on an individual and personal level.
So with that said, I hardly think we’re in opposition and likely agree very much so. AND please do add your $60 recommendation for the standard American, would love to see it, maybe you can educate me
Martha, the transfer or medium chain to long chain omega 3s from flax is about 10-15 percent… that’s if they’re not already oxidized and destroyed in shipping, storing and dating.
The eating of animal products is charged and emotional. There are many questions that will remain unanswered for as long as we’re on this planet. Why does my cat kill birds? Why do chimpanzees eat ants? Why does a plant react to the thought of being burned? What is the optimal diet?
I don’t pretend to know the answers to these… I like to rely on instinct and the ability to discern good science from junk. The populations who have lived in good health for long periods of time (which have been studied) have all consumed even a minuscule portion of their diets as animal products. It’s been said that this was in fact their main source of omega 3 oil. Yes, you can get it from other sources, but not in the same abundance.
So it’s entirely up to the individual which route they would like to choose.
I think we do go astray when we pass judgement on someone for doing something that we would not do. I do not dislike or criticize people for eating the standard American diet. It is not my right to judge. Nor do I pass judgement on your view point either. Thanks for sharing!
Live Awesome!

Top of the list:
1)Vega by Sequel Naturals.
This is the highest quality Protein/Meal I’ve found. Formulated by a Vegan Triathlete, it is packed with high quality ingredients and tastes great.
2)Ultima
This is like a health food gatorade. No sugar, Vegan friendly, great mineral replenisher for active people or anyone that needs the support.
3) Any supplements from Paradise Herbs or Paradise Essentials. Super high quality, best sourcing of ingredients. Exceptional CoQ10 formula. They also have an exceptional green product called Orac Energy Greens. The best tasting green product out there. Also has pigments like the blueberries etc.
4) UMAC Marine Phytoplankton. New technology, new ingredient, ancient food. This is farmed but it is done so in a natural environment not in bioreactors so it is in a state that is found in nature. Also, not taken out of the environment like krill.
5) Green Vibrance. I don’t have a problem with the bee pollen. A little goes a long way with this product.

Thanks for the list. I made a few notes and am off to my local health food store. I want to know about your shirt though. It looks interesting but I couldn’t read it. Is it humorous? Tongue in cheek?
Thanks,
Kirsten

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for all the amazing info you and Annmarie provide. My question relates to B12. I drink Rejuvelac every day (I make it the old school method a la Ann Wigmore). I was always told there is lots of B12 in it (and in other fermented foods). Do you think I still need a B12 supplement?
Thanks,
Emily

Hey Kevin..
I was washing my hair this morning and the thought came to me… I would love to see a top 10 show on natural grooming products like shampoo, toothpaste, soap, skin care, etc… Do you think you could fit that onto your top 10 list?

Hi Kevin, point taken – shining a light too harshly can appear
judgmental. My apologies.
Your cat, the chimps are not us – not human beings.
Not comparable. We are the stewards of this earth even though we
are not doing a good job…that is our role. To live here and take care
of the earth/its creatures. To decide the krill should die/have it’s life
be taken away and then to decide that a house cat can continue to live because it is “my” house cat – to me that is where real strong judgement comes
into play. Yes these are individual decisions, individual judgements.
If someone was going to decide if you were to live or die accordiing to their nutritional needs wouldn’t you think of them as a judge?
I feel anyone who speaks up for animal rights is seen as a judge
and criticized for that. I can deal with that. I will continue to be
a strong voice for the animals and not feel that I am going astray.
Gatherers..not hunters…mother earth has tethered many things to her that will nourish us. We don’t need to hunt down other beings
and say humans’ health trumps other beings lives. A healthy life
can be lived without taking another beings life to eat, ingest. Is
this judgment? I don’t think so – it is indicative of a reverence for
life that raw/living food brings me. A positive emotional charge.

i never ever buy the same bottle in a row. we always try something new, exhaust all our options and then start all over again. i develop allergies at the drop of a hat so I really like to make sure i’m always switching it up a bit. however, we do try to always take a probiotic several times a day. we’ll also always have enzymes on hand for when we cheat and eat some cooked food. and i like to take some kind of herb. gaia herbs and planetary herbals are my faves. so sometimes we take joint herbs and sometimes anti-inflammatory herbs. right now we’re taking an anti-oxidant blend from gaia herbs. you guys rock!

Is there a difference between taking pills or powders? I take pure MSM – 1tbls. a day. I prefer raw garlic rather than garlic pills. I just add several cloves to my green drink and all that chlorophyl seems to take care of the odor. I recently began taking Oceans 3 – Beyond Omega-3 Cod Liver Oil with omegaXanthin, EPA, DHA, astaxanthin & fucoxanthin. I also take Synergy, bee pollen granules, hemp protien, B12, Blue Green Algae & Spirulina. Wow! I take alot but I feel terrific! I juice tons of greens, carrots, beets, cucumber, cabbage, celery, ginger, etc. Used to be I would lie awake in bed for 3 to 4 hours before falling asleep. Since going on a raw food diet, I fall asleep within the first fifteen minutes of hitting the pillow; although I don’t sleep with my head on a pillow! Thanks for all your good work! Blessings!

Organic refers to a food that is grown without using any synthetic pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers or other substances that are toxic. Organic skin care is created from herbs, fruits, and the buds of flowers. These skin care products can benefit your body and skin and help it stay healthy or help to make it healthy.

i just want too let everyone know that over 80% of the vitamins and or supplements on the market are no good and the fillers are no good for you. example MSM theres only one factory that makes organic sulfur(msm) and the factory is in japan and the only one i know that sells it is karl loren he spent 2 years over there and study it and buys it direct from the factory.and he is out to tell people about there health.open a capsal into a glass of water and if none of it sinks its no good, real msm will sink to the bottom the rest is fillers.so just make sure you know where your getting your vitamins and supplements.

I just discovered your web site and I’m delighted. Lucky the person(s) who get to spend time with you.
Unless one’s immune system is compromised, I wondered why you recommend taking anti-microbal, anti-viral supplements. These can interfere with the normal immune process.
I myself am a 52 y.o male who and have a cholesterol problem (dangerously low HDL or good cholesterol) and heart disease, so here is my regime:
1. 1-2 gram Niacin
2. Plant sterols
3. 1/2 to 1 aspirin (with Tums, a calcium antacid)
4. 500 mg. Vit. E
5. 1-2 gr Magnesium
6. 1-2 gr Lysine
7. 1-2 gr B-12
8. 1-2 gr Ginko Biloba (for memory)
9. 1/4 tsp of Vit. C crystals in each cup of tea or juice
10. 3-4 gr Fish Oil
11. 1-2 gr Lechitin
12. 1, 1.5 gr. Glucosamine/Chondroitin
13. 1 gr L-Arginine
14. 500 mg. Vitamin D if I do not plan to spend 10 minutes in the sun.
I take these in small doses throughout the day, for example, I take 250 mg. of Niacin 3-4 times a day.
I think that’s everything!
Let me know if you still need volunteers.
