Cod Liver Oil Vs Krill Oil and How to Strengthen Your Wrists – The Renegade Health Show Episode #84

Lisa, an astute viewer of the show, asked an incredible question about yesterday’s post…

Here it is:

“I too have heard great things about cod liver oil. However, when I consulted my chiropractor on this he said that he would advise against it because the oil is obtained from the liver, a filter where the toxins are built up and concentrated and would definitely not be healthful. Is there an alternative and why would it be done that way? Any suggestions?”

I have an answer for this as well as a routine to strengthen your wrists. Many of the exercises that I recommend are very difficult if your wrists are weak.

Take a look… (There’s also a contest for this show’s question of the day, so watch the whole thing!)

Your question of the day: What do you think Mike Adams and I are releasing next week?

Your show is great –packed with lots of good stuff – plus you’re a good husband now that we know you helped Anne Marie clean out the water heater mess!

You and Mike Adams are coming to visit each one of us individually to further our health efforts! How about that for a good guess? No-? I have no idea what the launch product will be, but I’m confident it will be awesome.
    Good Health,

    Hi Kevin and Annemarie,

First, let me say how happy I am that you helped clean up the water from the water heater Kevin.
This is a recipe I invented today (at least I have never seen it any where else) and I thought I would send it along to help people chill out on a hot day. I am not an expert with a machiete (? spelling)or butchers knife so opening young coconuts is a chore for me. So I open two at a time and blend the milk and flesh in my blender. This is enough to fill one ice cube tray, and I freeze it. Usually I just pop them out of the ice cube tray once they freeze and store them in a bag in the freezer. This makes it very easy to just grab one or two cubes and toss them into the blender for smoothies.
Today I made ice cream with them.
    1 cup frozen berries (organic)
3 ice cubes of young coconut
1/2 cup or more liquid (I used nut milk, but you could use water or watery fruit.)
Blend with ice cream or ice crush option on a high power blender.
You could also add your favorite super food. I like to use Acai powder (it’s Raw) and makes every thing pink/purple.
Should be enough for 2 people. And with the coconut fat it is satisfying. Yum. Oh PS. This is low glycemic if you use blueberries, rasberries, or blackberries.

    Kevin and AnnMarie,

Hey there. Todays show was very helpful with the tips on cod liver oil as well as for krill oil, which I had never heard of before. Anyways, yeah I’m going to take a guess with what you and Mike Adams are doing… I think that it is some sort of an Artificial Intelligence program online for people to use to diagnose there health problems and propose natural solutions rather than conventional medicine solutions, sorta like WebMD, except for natural solutions.

Great Show! Wow is that 3 things in a row the car, dryer, water heater. I think the new product will be some kind of newsletter, podcast, or radio type show maybe?

Hi. I just started watching your show. I have read alot of interviews and reports that you have done on naturalnews.com. Your shows are really helpfull to me, being relatively new to the raw scene. My guess is that you are comming out with a nutrition/excersise guide for expecting mothers.

    Thanks for the great insight!

    Hi Kevin,

I have a feeling it has something to do with a project you started before your videos came out, where you collated all the best research topics and news sites into one website so we wouldn’t have to go searching ourselves to find all the latest information of the day. I know both you and Mike Adams know all the best sites and keep up with the daily news. We, your readers, on the other hand, don’t have that kind of expertise, so really don’t know who to trust or listen too. I imagine, because the 2 of you have been in this field for so long, you will lead us in the right direction. Maybe, you’ve changed the format a bit and are going to make it ‘live’. That would be great!!

Another great idea.. an interactive question and answer session on health, where we can go to have all our questions answered and listen to or read other people’s questions and answers too.

Thank you for the wrist exercises. I love them and they are completely doable. My wrist are pretty weak and prevent me from doing much with them. I also have weak shins. Would love to know how to prevent shin splints when I do any type of aerobic exercise. I already know about coming down on your whole foot, instead of on your toes.. but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And one last question.. the liver is the storehouse for ALL toxins because it is the detoxifying organ. You only mentioned heavy metals.. but aren’t there a lot more toxins in liver and isn’t it better to avoid cod liver oil completely in favor of krill?

PS.. Just went onto my favorites and looked up the website address for your collation project.. HealthFetch.org and a lightbulb went on in my head.. that whatever it is you and Mike Adams are launching, it is designed to be a huge educational program that is going to reach the masses. I love you guys.. we need more people out there like you 2.

Hmmmmmm, let me think. Is you new project an interactive web thingy where you get groups of folks together like you, Mike, David Wolfe, Gabriel Cousens, Brenda Cobb, Nomi Shannon, etc. etc. and we get to Skype you with questions? Just a thought…
Oh, and regarding the wrist strengthening exercises, when I was in great shape (getting there again!), I did wrist curls with 35# dumbbells palms up and 25# with palms down. Pat is short for Patricia… (Bet there are some guys out there that would get tired with the bar you were using in your video. (<: Pat

You mentioned in this mornings email that whatever you are working on will change the way we get our health information online. Since you are in the business of making personal health achievement webisodes, and Mike Adams has designed software for the sharing of such things, I’m guessing that the two of you are putting together a natural health focused YouTube like video community for all to access on the net… !?

Great episode by the way Kevin. Keep them coming! I watch daily ;]

    Hey Kevin,

With Krill oil aren’t you taking away Whale food, which are becoming endangered? Something to think about. Or, why don’t we get the Omega’s from the source Krill and other marine life get theirs from, algae!

Maybe you can post another video explaining this, especially for the raw foodies, vegetarians and vegans.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Kevin! Thanks for the info on the fish oil. I trust it, so I checked out the Sonne’s Fish Oil product you use.

But as someone who deals with mental fogginess, etc. quite frequently, I take somewhere near 2000 mg of EPA fish oil daily!!! Sounds like a lot right? — but from everything I’ve read and heard, fish oil for cognition must be at high doses.

So I wonder whether you can recommend any fish oils that are SAFE/HEALTHY but that come in LARGE “mega” doses, with tons of EPA. I currently take 6 capsules daily – which isn’t too bad – but I’m not totally sold on the quality of the brand. Any leads?

My guess is a website where everyone puts in what has worked for them to heal various health problems and others can access it to see what has worked in the past. As well as recommended practitioners.

    Another great episode Kevin!

I recently made the switch to Krill oil and am loving it. Years ago I was taking fish oils then switched to Udo’s oil blend, and now have settled down with Krill oil… Oh baby, the benefits that this healthy oil contains are awesome!

Good suggestions with the wrist exercises. I never imagined that your goofy 3rd recommendation would actually work. Well it certainly did.

In addition to improving wrist mobility and strengthening the wrist it’s also important to have proper wrist positioning when you do certain exercises. They have some cheap little handles to place on the ground and make push up’s easier as well.

Also if you are doing any dumbbell or barbell exercise you should have a firm grip. Really squeeze that bar. This will help protect your wrist and forearm.

Keep up the great work Kevin.

The Battle between Cod Liver oil and Krill oil is an interesting one. You really do need to be aware of the metal issues. I am involved in a distribution line for Krill Oil, K48 Omega 3, it is an awesome product that I feel has some amaizing value. Check out the link if you are interested.
