This week I came across this article “For amputees, an unlikely painkiller: Mirrors” on HealthFetch.
The headline caught my attention since mirrors certainly aren’t the most popular form of painkillers on the market today. (I’d assume mainly because you can’t get refills
)
Anyway…
The article chronicles a case study on how placing a mirror between the legs (one full and one removed) of an amputee to reflect the good leg can actually cut back or eliminate the pain that he or she feels–normally called phantom limb syndrome.
Now this is intense research. Why?
Because it basically flaps its tongue at the face of normal scientific finding when it comes to pain… you know the whole neurons-spinal cord-brain firing deal.
(FYI: John Sarno has been saying that back pain is over 80-90% emotional for years.)
What this type of study and practice affirms is that our minds are much more powerful than our physical bodies.
Just putting a mirror between one amputated leg and the other to make the appearance that they both are there, can take pain away.
This type of science is applauded by all those who love “The Secret” (Yes, I’m one of them too!) because it affirms that if you can see something, it can ease your distress.
When the amputee sees where his or her leg should be (and it isn’t there) they have pain.
When they see a leg there, aided by the mirror, they experience less pain.
So what does this mean for you?
What do you see that’s causing you pain or struggle all the time?
Do you see yourself as overweight? Unable to keep up with your vegan or raw food diet? Tired and lazy? Confused about what diet is right because there’s so much information out there and so many opinions?
OR…
Do you see yourself easily accomplishing all your health goals and losing weight effortlessly? Do you see yourself getting all the right information that you need and applying it step-by-step with ease?
Which group of questions apply to you most?
Here’s the solution.
If you’re feeling any pain about your health, go get yourself a mirror. When you look into it, I want you to paint the most incredible picture of yourself in whatever state you want to be in.

Kevin….Thanks for sharing this article. Makes good sense, doesn’t it. I used to be a member of weight watchers and they had this skinny mirror. I loved that thing. It was the first thing I went to every week when I attended meetings. Clear vision is so important.
Happy Easter to you too! (I do miss deviled eggs.)

Hi Kevin;
Interesting observation but it makes sense..Yes, I do agree that 80-90% of our problems is emotional pain..when I was dealing with being in a wheelchair 10 years ago most of what I had was to do with emotional pain and when I worked on releasing my emotional pain my diseases cleared up as well as providing the right nutrition for my body..today I am pain free and can walk normally..last year I was only sick for 4 days out of the year all because of dealing with my emotional pain..thanks..Helen

Kevin, If you soaked eggs in fruit juice (a really red or dark juice) In the fridge for a few days I would think you could get a natural dye. Red berries gets pink eggs, black berries could give you a blue/purple egg, I bet wine would stain an egg also. Denise

Dude!

hi.
I understand the logic and the premise behind using a mirror for pain relief for amputees. But I’m having a tad difficulty stretching this technique to weight loss. For an amputee, the mirror reflects the good intact healthy leg… but for someone who is overweight or has other health problems… when they look in the mirror they haven’t got a part of them that is reflecting good, intact (ie ideal weight).
Just my thoughts!

Edward, is that “Dude!” a good or a bad?
Jeanne, good point. I think it can work both ways. For someone with these issues, I’d think that the mirror idea is more of an analogy. See past what your physical bodies suggest and create whatever you want.
Thanks for sharing, guys!

Here’s something tasty:
Grind up some sprouted/soaked garbonzos ~ ( I don’t do fermented soy, but the first time I had these it was mixed with tofu… Do what you feel is best for you…)
Add what you like to the ground up beans. I like celery, chives… do your own thing!
Then, when the stuff’s the way you want it, press it real hard into “egg shapes”.
Once they are shaped, slip them into serving bowls. Maybe 3 or 4 per bowl ~ I guess it totally depends upon the size of the “eggs” you make, doesn’t it?
Then, mince up some tomatoes, herbs and any goodies you want for the “sauce”…
This is BOMBASTIC!
I did it for a Mexican pal that was missing his deceased mom’s cooked garbonzo bean, boiled egg & cheese “eggs” in a red chili broth.
He LOVED my raw version!
As for dying the eggs:
Martha Stewart did a show once showing how you can boil up onion skins and dye eggs and other things with the water afterward…
Of course, BEETS & BLUEBERRIES work REALLY WELL ~ So does TUMERIC…
HAVE FUN!
