		<description>That&#039;s just it, my MIND.  I would not be here
now, at 66 years old, if I hadn&#039;t used my
Mind for the past 40 years.  I had health
challenges from my teens when my Mom, daughter of a &quot;conventional&quot; doctor, took me to have my throat radiated.   That was the fad then.  I had lumpy sore throats and wasn&#039;t able to heal them for long.   They put a lead collar around my neck, but I fear that
my thyroid probably was affected, and that was
the beginning of my life-long challenge of 
staying well.   
   I could write volumes, but to be as brief
as possible, I read Adele Davis, studied macrobiotics, astrology, metaphysics, and had
a very active church/spiritual life.   I healed my sinus infections, wheat allergy, my
kids&#039; ear infections, and my husband&#039;s debilitating migraines.  I was vegetarian, vegan, cooked and raw at different times. 
They all worked for me and I recommend them to
everyone, for a while.   But not forever.
   Life brings all kinds of changes - and we
must eat according to our life styles.  The most effective teachings concerning food and living surprisingly enough, were the truths
I learned in Macrobiotics.  The ultimate goal
for Macrobiotics is Spiritual Eating.   I learned there are 7 levels of eating, Spiritual being the most elevated.  2 others that I recall are Emotional and Idealistic
Eating.  One must advance spiritually to the point where one doesn&#039;t judge any thing.  
Snail pie and coffee for dessert?  Fine, if that&#039;s what&#039;s available and you&#039;re hungry.
Personally, I hope to have other options as well. :)

As for the analogy about youth &amp; savings: TOTALLY!
I&#039;ve become aware of a new interaction with others for me since being on this part of the journey for over a year (Since 7.06):  When I&#039;m standing there, at Starbucks for a monthly meeting, watching folks pile on the mocha-choca-dairy-processed grain institutionalized foods I find myself compelled to comment, &quot;That&#039;s what got me where I&#039;m coming back from...&quot;  Then, I order my iced unsweetened green tea (the best I can do there...)
Yesterday, I was in line at Subway, for my $5.00 Veggie Deligt on wheat (the only time I eat bread now and it&#039;s super rare...), there was a gal ordering the chicken (hot foods) with mayo and honey mustard and cheese...  I had to speak up!  &quot;You know, I used to look like you, when I was your age.  And, when I was your age, I ordered food like you are now.  Look where it got me.  Now, I am trying to get back to where I was by eating like this.  (I had just ordered the Veggie Delight ahead of her in the line.)  So far, I&#039;ve lost 99 pounds, but it&#039;s taken since July &#039;06 and I&#039;ve still got a ways to go.  Your future will be so much brighter if you just reconsider your order and maintain the way you look now by eating healthier options.  Think about it.&quot;

The most important aspects of longevity, to me, are proper diet and exercise.

A lot of people my age (21) don&#039;t think much about what they&#039;re eating and drinking. Many people don&#039;t associate some of the health problems they have with what they&#039;re consuming on a daily basis. Like Jonny said, people living very long have low fasting glucose and low triglycerides.

Exercise is another important factor. Our bodies need to stay active. Exercise helps us relieve stress, lose weight, circulate oxygen throughout our bodies. The little time it takes each day to exercise will pay dividends for our bodies in the future.

A large majority of the worlds leading killers (cancer, stroke, heart disease and diabetes to name a few) can be prevented, not by taking drugs, but through living a healthy lifestyle that includes proper diet and exercise.</description>
