When you travel it’s certainly more difficult to stay on the healthy track. If we stayed at home all the time, it would certainly be a lot easier to stick to your diet… but the world is out there to be explored… so it would be a shame to not enjoy it!
Here are some healthy travel tips that I use to ease the stress over “what to eat” when I’m not at home.
When you’re finished watching, please add your own by clicking here and scrolling down to the bottom of the page!
Here is a short list of what I do when I travel:
- Search online for local health food stores. WholeFoods is a good place to start. You can just search by zip code on their website: www.wholefoods.com.
- Make a list of healthy restaurants… (raw, vegan, etc.) I’m not a big fan of raw gourmet, so I’d actually rather eat a cooked vegan meal that is balanced better than a raw mish-mash of heavy nuts and seeds. This list is essential, particularly if you’re going to a place where there’s little to eat. This will save you from stress… I promise.
- Bring these key supplements: Green Powder, Senna (for constipation, Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract, Vitamin C, Sea Salt. (You can get the Green Powder at David Wolfe’s site www.Sunfood.com or if you like, you can use my affiliate link: click here
- Bring my Rubix cube… can’t solve it, but who cares
- IPod: loaded with Centerpointe relaxation tapes. That can be found at www.CenterPointe.com or (Click here – affiliate link)
- Readmate: This is a great tool for speed reading. My friend has a whole course, but you might be able to get one here: www.KwikLearning.com
- At least 4 books.
- Rechargeable batteries!
That’s it for healthy travel… Of course there are more things like dried fruits and nuts, but these are the staples for mind and body.

Kevin,
Hope you catch the sun in SF!!
When we travel (usually by car)I usually bring snacks: Lara Bars, raw trail mix, fruit, baby carrots, frozen green drink.
We recently traveled to see our son run in his regional meet in college and I just decided not to worry about food. He’s going to school in the Black Hills of South Dakota and there is not much in the way of rawness up there!! I had good intentions when we stopped at Arby’s for lunch in the middle of Wyo. and I ordered a salad. YUCK! Iceberg lettuce and not much else! Needless to say the rest of the trip was an eating disaster as far as health is concerned!! I came home feeling AWFUL!! and had the hardest time getting back on track with my eating.
I really do best when I bring what I can and fast when I have to!
Have a great trip,
Tracy

For long plane trips I take raw crackers which are made from a variety of nuts and seeds in my dehydrator. This is simple and satisfies my hunger .

Kevin,
I missed listening to your video about your traveling tips, which I was looking forward to watching because I will be flying next week. It, the e-mail, came in yesterday and I tried to get to it last night. The link didn’t want to cooperate, so I put it on the system tray, hoping to watch it this morning. Well, I got through this morning, but it is no longer available!!! Will your videos etc. always be so short? It seems that it wasn’t available for even 24 hours. What a shame? Could you let it be on longer so more could enjoy them?
Thanks anyway, and hope to hear from you.

I bring a little kit with things like bandaids or mole skin for feet, herbs for boosting the immune system, essential oils for disinfecting some things in hotel room. And lately I have been bringing along my Beemer 3000 to help me deal with parts of my body that get uncomfortable with walking and carrying luggage. (http://www.bemeramerica.com/hanson) If you have not seen this, you may find it interesting. Linda

We request that the hotel provide us with a room with no air fresheners. Some hotels will provide a “green room”. We also carry a Aireox portable air purifier for the room with an adaptor for the rental car. We also ask for a car without all of the air sprays and fresheners. We bring our own soap and shampoos – yes, there again the hotel provides only products with toxic ingredients. When arriving at a retaurant, we ask for wait staff with no fragrance. We love the show. Could you comment on juicers sometime?

I put all the ingredients for a salad in a blender, even the dressing, and puree it, then put it on a teflex sheet in my dehydrator until dry (I like it crunchy). Yum. And if I do find food, this will keep until I have a need for it.

Sorry, this is almost 1 year old—ahhh–
I usually make a ton of dehydrated crackers to bring in an airtight container and pack them in my suitcase and a small amount with me for the plane if it’s a plane trip. I also bring my travel blender–pack it in my suitcase. I happen to have an American model of the Tri-Best. We can get them here in Israel with the 220 as well. I also bring chlorella tabs and other food support, because I never know what I’ll find abroad. Here in Israel, it’s difficult to get the chlorella tabs, but they do sell a liquid version of it.
